Work Text:
Vi slowly came to consciousness early in the morning, the loud tweets of birds outside of his and Caitlyns bedroom window not allowing him to slip back into his once peaceful sleep. He groaned and buried his face into his pillow to hide from the bright sun shining in through the cracks of the window curtains. That didn’t help much.
Vi knew he had to get up, because a certain gremlin would be demanding attention very soon, but he was tired from his shift the night before. He just wanted a little bit more sleep…
A shrill wail pierced the quietness of the house and Caitlyn jolted awake beside the man.
She groaned and ran her hands down her face, rolling onto her side to push on Vi’s shoulder. “Levi, go get Matilda.”
Vi didn’t respond, teetering on the edge of dreamland. He was so close to falling back asleep when he was suddenly pushed off the bed, face planting onto the cold carpet floor. “Ow.” He said.
Caitlyn sat up and peered over the bed, looking at Vi as he got up with a small sleepy grin. He sighed and rubbed his face while making his way out of the room, glaring playfully at his wife momentarily before heading down the hall, and into Matilda's room.
“Good morning, Muffin!” Vi said, grinning at Matilda with some fake sense of awakeness. She instantly stopped crying as soon as he walked into the room, lifting her arms and making grabbing motions to him.
“Daddy!” She practically yelled. “Daddy, I wan’ up! I wan’ go potty.”
Vi chuckled at the small girl and picked her up out of her playpen turned bed. If they didn’t do this, she’d tear the house apart while they slept with the freedom an actual bed gave her. Matilda latched onto him, holding his bare shoulders while he carried her to the bathroom. He walked in and found Caitlyn on the toilet half asleep, head in her hands with her eyes drooped.
“Cupcake, I don’t think it’s a good idea falling asleep on the toilet.” He said. Caitlyn opened her eyes at the sound of his voice, blinking away her drowsiness when she noticed who he had with him.
“I wasn’t asleep…” She mumbled, pulling at the roll of toilet paper. She carried on with her business while Vi helped Matilda with her potty, getting her situated on it so that she wouldn’t have another accident on the floor again.
As she went, Vi began brushing his teeth alongside Caitlyn, washing his face afterward for good measure. Caitlyn did her extremely complex morning routine as Vi waited for Matilda to finish. Once the little one was done, she stood up, wadling over to Vi who was seated on the floor in front of her.
“Daddy, wipe!” She said,
Vi hummed, nodding, “Wipe,” then grabbed the little packet of wet wipes off the counter. Caitlyn was just finishing up her routine by the time Vi had Matilda on the couch watching Powerpuff Girls. She came down the steps and was greeted with the familiar sight, a smile coming to her face.
Vi looked up at her when he spotted her slipping into the kitchen, getting up to meet her there. Matilda stayed put because once she was sat on the couch and Powerpuff Girls was on, she was sucked in. Vi took this freedom and used it wisely. He stepped up behind Caitlyn and wrapped his arms around her waist, placing a gentle kiss to her neck. Caitlyn hummed.
“It’s nearly eight, darling. I think you should go up and do your rub-ins.” She said, turning around to kiss him on the lips. “Breakfast will be done by the time you come back.”
“Alright.” Vi said, kissing Caitlyn one more time before walking upstairs. Vi began to hum a tune to a song he heard a few days ago while he got everything set up in the bathroom. Pulling his wife-beater off, he grabbed his bio-oil. He put some on his fingers and started to rub it into the scar on the right side of his chest. In slow circular motions, he massaged the pale skin. After about a minute of that, he switched to the other side.
When done, he washed his hands. Drying them on the rag hanging on the towel rack, he opened the mirror to find his testosterone gel. It wasn’t where he left it, but most of his things never are.
Vi stuck his head out of the bathroom and called for Caitlyn.
“Yes?” She shouted back.
“Where’d you put my gel?”
There was a moment of silence from Caitlyn and Vi heard her telling Matilda something. “It’s in the drawer below the sink, I put it there so Matilda would stop trying to mess with it.”
Vi grinned at the thought of Matilda accidentally getting some of the gel on her and growing a huge mustache, but he quickly replied to Caitlyn with a thanks, finding the gel a few seconds later. He put it onto the counter and took the hand soap they had next to the sink, putting some on his left shoulder. Vi wet his hand with some water and rubbed the soap around the area he was going to apply it to. After he was done with that, he leaned his arm over the sink and poured warm water from the cup he recently put in there. When his shoulder was clean, dry and ready, he put some of the gel on his hand, beginning his daily dose of his man juice.
True to Caitlyn’s word, by the time he came down his breakfast was waiting on the kitchen island. Caitlyn and Matilda were sitting next to each other eating, Caitlyn explaining the unnecessarily complicated actions her job entails. Then what a job even is. Vi takes his seat.
Before he’s even able to pick his fork up, Matilda taps the table a few times, calling him. “Daddy, why do you have hair on your face?”
Vi raises his brow at the girl, then turns to Caitlyn. “Weren’t you just asking about mommy’s job, Muffin?”
Caitlyn laughs between them and Matilda’s own eyebrows raise in a mocking way. “M’ daddy and I sound like Mojo Jojo.” She said in a voice that was supposed to mimic Vi’s. Vi pulled back from his chair, offended, and looked to Caitlyn for help.
“What did I do to deserve that?” He said, being ignored. Matilda continued mocking him. “C’mon, I didn’t spend years suffering for this voice just for my own child to ruin it!” He said, watching Caitlyn nearly die suppressing her laughter.
Matilda stared at Vi innocently with a smile on her face. “Daddy do the Mojo voice!”
Vi shook his head. Pure and utter disbelief. Caitlyn laughed. The sound didn’t ring it’s usual pleasant song, just mocking and emasculating. She buried her face into her palms and tried to get herself under control to no avail. Matilda, so sweet, and cruel , laughed with Caitlyn.
Vi sighed and quickly ate his breakfast. He shoved his eggs and sausages down fast before getting started on his perfectly made beans and toast. Vi still honestly didn’t know how Cait made the beans so fast and so good even after almost ten years of being together.. He never questioned it. Maybe it was a British thing.
Vi chewed sadly on his bean covered toast and side eyed his backstabbing family. Caitlyn caught his gaze and sucked in a large breath. She exhaled slowly and her laughter ceased. She turned over to Matilda, who was now distracted with her plate of food. “Matilda, that wasn’t very nice. We shouldn’t bully your father.” She says, sending a small smile to Vi.
He huffed and focused back on his plate.
“He’s very sensitive.”
Vi choked, along with his masculinity.
There.
She did it.
Emasculated him, and for what? A pain in the stomach from laughing too hard?
Some loyalty…
He loved it.
