It was a quiet morning, and Cheyenne Tribal Police Chief Mathias Clark just finished drinking coffee when his 1½ year old daughter Kaia woke up to start her day.
"Good Morning Kaia." Mathias said.
"Daddy!" Kaia said.
Mathias picked her up, and held her. He's already in his police uniform, and is ready to take her to Cady Longmire's office on the Res. Mathias packed her a lunch, and had her eat her breakfast, before getting her into his SUV, and heading to Cady's office.
"Baby." Mathias said. "Daddy wants you to be on your best behavior for Ms. Cady."
"Otay daddy!" Kaia said. "I will be on my best behavior, daddy."
"We're here!" Mathias said.
Mathias got out, and unstrapped Kaia out of her car seat, amd grabbed her bag and lunchbox, and walked into the office.
"Hi Kaia!" Cady said.
"Hi Ms. Cady!" Kaia said.
"Here's her lunch." Mathias said. "She's usually down for a nap at 12. But there is a chance she might refuse. Also she got some books for you to read."
"Ok." Cady said. "Is she ok to paint on paper?"
"Yes." Mathias said. "Just watch her. She has a habit of drawing on the wall."
"Ok." Cady said.
"Well, daddy's gonna go." Mathias said. "I love you, munchkin. Behave yourself. Call me if there's any problems."
"Bye daddy!" Kaia said.
"Bye baby girl." Mathias said. "See you later, Cady."
"See you later." Cady said. "Why don't I put your lunch in the fridge, and we can start painting on the papers? "
Kaia nodded excitedly, and Cady put her lunch in the fridge, and got paint and tons of paper out. Kaia started to pick a color, and started painting. Her little tongue is out and it's adorable to Cady watching Kaia concentrate on her painting.
Walt knocked, and came in, and Kaia finished painting.
"Hey punk. Who's kid is that?" Walt Longmire said.
"Kaia." Cady said. "You know Mathias right?"
"I do why?" Walt said.
"Kaia is his daughter." Cady said.
"Oh uh ok." Walt said.
"Ms. Cady I done." Kaia said.
Kaia is washed up, and Cady put the papers on the counter to dry.
"I came to warn you about a weird creature." Walt said. "Sasquatch."
"Ok thanks for the heads up dad." Cady said.
Walt soon had to leave, and Kaia was sleepy, so Cady put her down for a nap. Cady was doing some work, when she heard a rock hit the wall. She went out, and it was size of a boulder. She decided to lock all of her doors, when she suddenly sees a face as big as the window looking through. She grabbed Kaia and his in the closet. Kaia was whimpering.
"Hello?" Mathias said.
"Do you believe in the Sasquatch?" Cady said.
"I do." Mathias said.
"There's one here on property and I am hiding in the closet with Kaia." Cady said.
"Ok! Stay put!" Mathias said. "I'm on my way."
Within minutes, Mathias arrived, and ran in, as soon as Cady unlocked the door. Kaia was scared and Mathias held her.
"Daddy's here." Mathias said. "Thank you for keeping her safe."
Kaia was calming down.
"Everyone has to be vigilant about what's happening and that this creature is back." Mathias said.
"I will inform the Res." Deputy Fox said.
"I will follow you to your Jeep." Mathias said. "It's nest if you stay home for the time being. I understand that you have clients, but your and everyone's safety is our main priority."
Kaia is placed in the car seat. Cady drove off, and Mathias followed behind. This nightmare they'll all be living in is only the beginning.
