Summary:

“How was your Christmas and New Year's?”

Lonely.

“It was fine, Yoongi-ssi, yours?” Namjoon diverts instead. Yoongi just looks at him for a few seconds before he is answered.

“Was good. A few of us celebrated Taehyung’s birthday together, it was on the 30th so it was really a stream of mini celebrations.” Namjoon’s heart squeezes. He thinks about Taehyung’s box smile and shiny eyes, the people around him, Yoongi, Jimin, Seokjin, maybe the boy from the other day, family, other friends, a cake, presents, and everything warm.

God, Namjoon longs for something like that. He didn't even want to be celebrated, maybe be a part of it, even if he was just there to stand and witness it from the corner of a room, it would leave him warm for days. It would be enough, more than enough.

Chapter Text

I hope it rains all-day

종일 비가 왔음 좋겠어

Then people wouldn't look at me yeah

그럼 사람들이 날 쳐다보질 않아서 yeah

Because an umbrella covers a sad face

우산이 슬픈 얼굴 가려주니까

------------

Seoul’s so fucking cold and Namjoon only feels lonelier. The sun is barely there, with grey and white clouds for days on end and it's getting so heavy. Couples and young families decorate the entire country alongside the Christmas ornaments that were put up weeks ago.

Namjoon liked Christmas, sure it was nice when there was someone else to make hot cocoa for or share dinner with. But this year, like the one before that and the one before that, Namjoon is spending it in Seoul, alone.

He could have gone home, his parents insisted but Namjoon was tired of the upcoming facade he would have to put on spending Christmas with them and his sister. So he declines.

The sound of snow crunching below his feet is rhythmic as he trots up the sidewalk along an array of restaurants, cafes and tiny shops in this quieter side of Seoul. When he sees a warmly lit cafe that tugs him, he decides he has hours to kill and would rather spend it on an expensive coffee than be in his quiet apartment alone.

He stops right in front of it, seeing the small signboard.

Min’s Brew.

Namjoon’s lips curve up at the personal name. He walks in and wooden floors greet him, an umbrella stand half empty and the smell of coffee.

A dozen people are seated, sipping on their drinks, cheeks and lips pink from the cold, a child babbling softly and it sends a soft pinch to Namjoon’s heart.

He averts his eyes and walks up to the counter, eyes glancing over the menu written out in chalk, neatly and cursive. Names and their descriptions in a smaller font.

A few of the names bring a smile to his eyes; Jinger Tea, Tae’s Honey Tea, Brown Suga Kooffee, Sunshine Shot, Seok’s Croffle, Min Mochi Duo, and a couple more that reuse the names that were mentioned and Namjoon wonders about the meaning behind them. Who were they? Just a play on words?

The person in front of Namjoon steps away after giving their order and Namjoon is called forward.

Min. It says on the name tag.

The owner?

“Hello, what can I get you?” The man, pale with pink lips and a rather deep but soothing voice, greets Namjoon.

“Hi, uh,” Namjoon’s eyes go back to the chalkboard with an overwhelming amount of words and then back to the cashier, “I’m sorry, it's my first time here, I’ll just go for something resembling an expresso?” Namjoon tries, a shy smile on his face.

The man smiles a kind smile, eyes bunching up softly, almost feline-like and Namjoon finds it enticing.

“Sure, the Sunshine Shot, is a shot of expresso, do you want just that or we could make it a macchiato?” That sounds so good so Namjoon nods.

“Thank you, a macchiato would be great.” The man hums and keys it into the cash register.

“Something to eat? A muffin or cookie? It’s all homemade.” Namjoon’s eyes follow the man’s hand, gesturing to the side and in the display sit a bunch of pastries and they all call out to him. He notes the choice of names for them as well and it gets him asking.

“What do they mean, the names?”

“Ah, the million dollar question that a few of our customers ask,” a gummy smile greets Namjoon and he looks away, his heart beating louder at the sight of it. “People who mean a lot to me. They come up with a lot of the recipes and I had a few of their favourites incorporated into the menu.”

Fond, raw uncontrollable fond seeps out from the man’s words. He continues.

“I wouldn’t have opened this if it wasn’t for them.” Namjoon meets the man’s eyes now.

“That’s really nice, this place is lovely.”

“Thank you,” he gets another smile, “so, what would be?”

“The croffle I think, and hmm, a strawbearry cupcake.” They both chuckle a little at that and it warms Namjoon.

“Good choice. I’ll bring it for you once it's ready.” Namjoon murmurs a thank you and pays for it. He then walks and finds himself a table at the very corner of the shop, right by a window, a small cactus sitting at the centre of it which Namjoon takes a picture of.

The next person that Namjoon notes walking into the shop is a boy with tattoos on his knuckles decked in black attire, a hat and a mask, dusting off the snow before he’s jogging up to the counter.

Namjoon watches as the boy goes behind the counter, back hugging the man, Min, from the counter earlier.

Oh.

The boy’s mask is removed and a bunny-like innocent smile and wide bambi eyes are seen. They’re nuzzling into one another, the boy receives a poke from the man and there’s light giggling. They’re talking and the man packs a few pastries for the boy and there’s a drink ready in a to-go cup for him too.

All of it endearing Namjoon. This boy must be one of the people the man mentioned earlier.

The boy takes it, he’s kissed on the forehead by the man and with a last squeeze, he’s off.

Namjoon sees the smile that stays on the man for the next few minutes as he’s working the machines and how slowly it creeps away, but the fond stays.

Namjoon longs for it.

When the man walks up to Namjoon’s table, with a tray of what he orders, Namjoon sits up straight, greeting him with a smile.

“Here you go, did you want any sugar with your drink?” The man places all of it down and Namjoon shakes his head.

“No, this is good, thank you.” Their eyes meet and Namjoon braves himself for the question he wants to ask. “Min, is that your name?”

The man grins. “Yes, Min Yoongi.”

“I’m Namjoon, Kim Namjoon.”

“Nice to meet you, Namjoon-ssi. Do let me know if you liked them or if you know… if they’re too sweet? Some of the customers make it a note to tell me that they are, so I’d like to hear your opinion too.” Yoongi says, voice lacing humour.

“Oh,” it gets Namjoon flushing for absolutely no reason, his hand moving to the nape of his neck, “I’ve got a sweet tooth, so I don’t think that’s going to be an issue Yoongi-ssi, but I will.”

“Enjoy.” Yoongi bows a little, throwing him another smile and walks off.

Everything is amazing. Namjoon almost drools at how the croffle looks, drizzled with honey and with crispy bacon that just ties everything together. It's got to be the best thing he’s ever eaten.

The strawbearry muffin bites into Namjoon’s sweet tooth. The light buttercream and jam-filled centre made him groan a little. It's been so long since he got something that felt so good, that made him feel a little alive.

It’s all so warm and Namjoon feels a small flame grow in him at everything he has on his table and around him. He finishes both pretty slowly, savouring each taste, along with sipping his macchiato, eyes darting between newcomers, those leaving and what's happening out in the street.

There's a humming silence in his mind and heart, giving him a little hope that he would be better this winter. Maybe if he could find other things that feel warm.

When he decides to finally leave, it's a couple of hours later. His book was finally done, only a couple of crumbs left on his plate and the drink long gone. It's dark outside and he knows it's only getting colder and so he opts to start walking home.

He tries to wait to tell Yoongi about how he enjoyed everything but there were a lot of customers and Namjoon sees Yoongi and the few other waiters running back and forth, unable to flag him down or walk up to him. So, Namjoon chooses to leave a note instead. Using the napkin and a pen he has, he writes.

Yoongi-ssi, these have got to be the warmest thing I’ve had in this cold winter. It's all insanely good and I will definitely return for more. Thank you!

Namjoon leaves it neatly and slowly exits the cafe. The little happiness and warmth stayed with him the rest of the week.

Until it's the next.

Receiving pictures from his family filled him with light that dimmed quickly and he doesn’t understand it. He’s started to stay in more, laze around in the same attire and spend hours on end watching rubbish on the television or engrossed in a thriller that did not bring an ounce of emotion to him.

Is this what it is? Is he finally getting depressed again?

It's what forms in his head when there are dirty clothes in a pile on the floor, dishes in the sink, and takeaway containers discarded loosely. It’s all a mess, reflecting what Namjoon feels on the inside.

He notices the stack of papers on his desk, the waste paper basket full as well, his jackets thrown carelessly and it's all so much. He has work to do, papers to grade and lessons to plan for next year. He feels like exploding.

Namjoon leaves his apartment. He’s out walking in the snow, huddled in a thick coat and mask, earbuds and music in his ears. He follows a path aimlessly, focused on the music and the thoughts in his head, just feeling the need to walk it off, hoping it’ll work.

It doesn't. He knows it's been over an hour.

But he doesn’t stop, he’s at the park now, dimly lit streets greeting him, the snow still extremely cold and bothering him, but he doesn’t stop until he’s stopped.

A hand on his arm, holding him almost. He stops walking and takes a deep breath in.

He turns and sees…Yoongi. Min Yoongi. From the cafe?

Yoongi is speaking to him and he can’t hear it, the music in his ears goes fuzzy as well until Yoongi points to it, eyebrows furrowed and worried. Only then he tugs them out.

“Namjoon-ssi?”

Namjoon blinks and Yoongi moves closer to him.

“Are you alright?” He’s asked.

“Yes, uh- sorry, Yoongi-ssi, I couldn- didn’t hear you.”

“It's fine, it's okay. Are you going home?” Namjoon takes a look around and nods.

“Yeah, I’m heading back soon. You? Did you just close?” Namjoon feels he can see Yoongi smile under the mask.

“I’m off today, just went to pick up some dinner.” Yoongi raises a bag of something. Namjoon nods, thinking about if he’s eaten today.

“That’s good, yeah.”

“I just wanted to thank you for the note, it was very kind of you to say that,” Yoongi says, it's soft but grateful and it again builds a small fire in Namjoon.

“You’re welcome,” he clears his throat, “It was really good. I’m glad I walked in when I did.” Yoongi’s eyes turn to crescents and Namjoon mirrors it, unable to control himself.

“Come over again and I’ll get you to try something else?” It's a suggestion and Namjoon pinks. He nods.

“Sure, yeah, I’ll come again.” Yoongi looks a little bashful at the exchange.

“Any plans for dinner?” Yoongi asks.

Namjoon nods. “Uh, maybe ramen...in the mood for something spicy,” Namjoon says, a small chuckle at the end of it.

“Ah, I’m having that too.” They share a grin. “You should get out of the cold soon hmm, it’s getting late?” Namjoon nods, eyes averting, chest warming again. Something about Yoongi who’s so much smaller than him, looking at him with eyes that say so much gets to Namjoon.

“Yeah, you too, Yoongi-ssi.” Namjoon smiles. “Goodnight.” Yoongi nods, waves and he returns it.

He watches Yoongi walk into the night before walking the other way, back to his apartment. All he thinks about, music and thoughts silent, are Yoongi’s eyes.

------------

It's a week later and Namjoon is standing in front of Yoongi’s little cafe, eyes peering in and he sees new people around Yoongi. Bright smiles and pink lips, giggling with one another, all of them in matching aprons and there it is, Yoongi’s fondness.

Namjoon feels pulled to it and he walks in. The bell dings softly and he meets Yoongi’s eyes, the owner’s smile growing, waving at him a little. Namjoon returns it, removing his mask and raking his fingers through his hair.

The other three around Yoongi turn to him as well and he feels a little intimidated by the attention but tries to ignore it as they were all kind eyes, resembling Yoongi’s.

“Namjoon-ssi, you’re back.” Yoongi greets him. Namjoon laughs a little, nodding.

“I guess I am,” Namjoon is finally able to read the name tags on the others. Jimin, Taehyung and Seokjin. And they were...well, Namjoon wasn’t blind nor was he straight, but fuck, seeing all four of them like that, under the warm lights, reminded him of how he had an affinity for pretty people.

Then the names hit him. Jin. Tae. Min. From the menu items.

Maybe Yoongi sees it on his face, asking if they were the people.

“Yeah, uh.....these are a few of them.”

“Aww, Yoongi-yah, you told your customer about us?” The one named Seokjin spoke, leaning on the counter, eyes bright on Namjoon. Both Yoongi and Namjoon flushed at Seokjin’s words, but Yoongi rolled his eyes as well.

“Briefly,” Yoongi mutters and Namjoon sees something familiar in Seokjin’s eyes towards Yoongi.

Fond.

“Hmm, did you like it Namjoon-ssi? What did you get?” Jimin spoke up this time, eyes big and bright, expecting an answer.

“The croffle and the strawbearry cupcake, it was- “

“Yes!” Taehyung says, turning towards Jimin. “Hah, was it good Namjoon-ssi?” Namjoon grins at that, nodding. Jimin obviously pouting and Namjoon thinks they’ve got a bet or something going on if the customers get a specific item related to each of them.

“It was really good, Taehyung-ssi, I loved it. Yoongi-ssi mentioned that some of them come from those with the names, that was yours?”

Namjoon wasn't ready when he meets Taehyung’s shy eyes as he bashfully nods. Namjoon's heart falters a little at the sight of it.

“Yeah, the strawbearry cupcake. Jin hyung and I experimented on it.” It's a shy, soft mumble that tugs Namjoon on the inside.

“It was all Taehyung actually, I was just there to stop it from burning.” Seokjin slides in, eyes fond, fond, fond, towards Taehyung now and Namjoon sees it in all of them. Jimin too.

“Aish hyung...” Taehyung whines, pushing his fringe away and distracting his obviously flamed face. Namjoon couldn’t help the small smile that expands at the sight of it.

Taehyung meets Namjoon's eyes again. “Thank you.”

“Of course.” Namjoon pulls away from Taehyung’s eyes feeling he’s stared too long and looks up at the chalkboard and back to Yoongi, “suggestions for today?” Focusing on why he was actually back. To try something else Yoongi wanted to suggest.

Yoongi grins, nodding. “Come this way.” Namjoon is directed to the front of the pastry display, Seokjin, Taehyung and Jimin following, eyes wide and a giggle builds in Namjoon’s chest.

“We’ve got these for today.”

Janberry pie. Namjoon grins at that, biting his lips and Yoongi follows. “A twist of Jin,” Yoongi answers to which Seokjin groans, shaking his head.

“They just like to embarrass me.” Namjoon smiles even deeper at that. A sudden, random thought pops into his mind; cute.

And he stills. All of them? Their interactions? Namjoon doesn’t decide.

“Mochi? Do you like mochi, Namjoon-ssi?” Jimin questions, a small pout on his lips, leaning forward. Namjoon takes a slight breath at that, nodding.

“I do, I’ve got a sweet tooth, Jimin-ssi, I would love anything sweet really,” Namjoon says, kindly and it's rewarded with Jimin’s eyes that light up.

“Yeah? How bout the mochi bowl? There’s some fruit and yoghurt and-”

“Chocolate,” Yoongi adds.

“Oh yeah, chocolate, some nuts and mochi, a few different flavours!” Jimin says this all excited and kid-like it warms Namjoon so he nods.

“Sure, I’ll take that and the pie.” Jimin and Seokjin high-five each other and Namjoon chuckles at that. Yoongi only shakes his head a little, a small smile on his face nonetheless.

“I’ll bring it up to you, Namjoon-ssi.”

“Thank you.” Namjoon pays for it and like clockwork, they all start moving. Namjoon has his eyes on them the entire time. Seokjin and Jimin’s laughter is louder than Taehyung’s and Yoongi’s but they’re having fun and Namjoon thinks about when was the last he's had fun like that with people. He can’t remember. The last few years were hectic.

There’s care too. The way Seokjin helps Taehyung with things that are too hot, Yoongi helps Jimin with putting things on his tray, hand below it to hold if Jimin were to drop it. They work so well together.

Friends…were they friends? Family?

Yoongi walks over with a tray a couple of minutes later, a soft grin on his face as he puts it down in front of Namjoon. He sighs in awe a little at how it all looks, warm and presented in front of him.

Glorious.

“I’m going to get addicted, Yoongi-ssi, they look so good,” Namjoon says and Yoongi chuckles.

“Ah, is that a problem, Namjoon-ssi?” Yoongi replies, amused, putting down the cutlery. Namjoon grins a pink smile.

“What happens if I’ve tried everything?” Namjoon speaks it before he thinks and almost wants to take it back.

Yoongi looks surprised at his words, lips pursing shyly. “I’m sure we could come up with something else.” Namjoon lets out a sound, he’s not sure what it is, but Yoongi’s words get him feeling all sorts. Yoongi continues.

“No coffee for today though?” Oh.

“Shit, yeah- sorry, I was going to order one but completely forgot.” Yoongi hums softly, waving his hand, dismissing Namjoon’s words kindly.

“It's okay. Do you want the macchiato or something else? I could get you a menu.” Namjoon shakes his head.

“The macchiato is good, thank you, Yoongi-ssi.” Their eyes meet and Namjoon finds Yoongi’s pretty.

“Sure, I’ll bring it over, enjoy.” A smile is shared and Yoongi walks off.

Namjoon enjoys the pie and the mochi dessert with his eyes on them again, finding Seokjin who’s making his drink, Jimin standing beside him, waiting for it. Yoongi at the cashier, tending to customers and Taehyung clearing a table.

It only takes a couple of seconds for the drink to be ready in Jimin’s hands and then he’s walking over to Namjoon, a bright smile on his lips staying on the entire time.

“Your macchiato, Namjoon-ssi.” Jimin says, putting it down and bowing a little. The glowing innocence from Jimin makes Namjoon feels alive for an unexplainable reason.

“Thank you, Jimin-ssi, should I pay for this now or later?” Jimin shakes his head.

“Hyung said it's on the house, so don’t worry.” Namjoon freezes in shock, eyes darting from the drink to Jimin and then to Yoongi. Free?

“No, Jimin-ssi, it’s really okay, I want to pay for it.” Jimin just shrugs, eyes mischievous.

“What hyung says goes, Namjoon-ssi, you don’t want to say no to Yoongi hyung, he can be quite stubborn,” Jimin murmurs laced with amusement like it's a secret and Namjoon’s lips lift up into a smile. His eyes fall on Yoongi.

“Yeah? I’ll talk to him then. Thank you, Jimin-ssi.” Jimin giggles a little, nodding, sounding light and airy and leaves Namjoon.

Jimin walks up to Yoongi, muttering something, their eyes find his and Yoongi is shaking his head, lips pursed. Jimin skips off and Yoongi is back with a customer.

Yoongi doesn’t let him pay for it and Namjoon promises to come back. He walks home that night, recalling Taehyung, Jimin, Seokjin and Yoongi.

--------

Christmas and New Year's pass. Namjoon had spent it both alone, with just mediocre pizza and sushi, a bottle of fruity champagne and a K-drama that kept his mind occupied.

There were instances where he tried working and he did, a little bit, at least it's something. He had managed to mark a class's worth of papers and cleaned his apartment. It goes fine almost, monotonous and still cold, but Namjoon thinks he can get through January like this. His classes were going to start in February and then it was going to be a mundane routine where he didn’t have to keep himself occupied.

His parents come over a week into January. His mom leaves him with some extra home-cooked food and Namjoon spent an hour with his head on his mother’s lap while they watched a movie together. The sense of warmth stayed with Namjoon for a while until they leave.

It all gets bad again and he tries, god, he tries so hard to pull himself out of the cave he’s going further into, but it's so dark.

Namjoon sees pictures from his other family and friends all over Instagram with their big groups and warm families, food and presents and drinks, all of it reminding him of how lonely he actually is. He had friends, a few of them from when he was in grad school, and then everyone went their separate ways and so did Namjoon. And that was okay until it wasn’t.

It's the third week of January when he decides to get his bicycle out, heading over to Han River. He’s got no plans of which direction to go or how far, only wanting to be free from volatile thoughts. He thinks about what’s really bothering him and makes a list in his head.

  1. Staying in Seoul alone is taking a toll on him.

  2. He loves his job but where has the motivation gone?

  3. He misses his family but seeing them and being around them was only going to drain him even more and what if they notice him under the cracks? He couldn’t worry them.

  4. Being unable to cook a decent meal and not having his driving license at this age makes him feel inadequate. He never had time to learn or practise either over the years, always just wanting to rest after hours of work and research in university.

  5. He misses the joys that come with the little things in life, a good coffee, art museums and cycling.

Conclusion; he’s lonely and hence, depressed. Namjoon sighs. Nothing can be changed overnight really.

As he’s riding slowly against the river bank, he wonders when he had started to love everything a little less.

Namjoon finally notices how the river was almost completely frozen, a good half an hour into his ride and he stops his bike. Finding a tree to lean it against, he stands and watches the scenery as the sun goes down, taking deep breaths of fresh air.

He needed to change, he tells himself, he has to.

“Hey, you.” Namjoon jolts, glancing to the right.

Yoongi.

“Yoongi-ssi…you’re here?” Namjoon asks in surprise. Yoongi nods, chuckling, eyes wide and bright and…beautiful.

“I swear I’m not stalking you, we just seem to be at the same place once again.” Namjoon notices a bike beside Yoongi.

“I didn’t see you…I- were you already here?” Namjoon queries, had he not been paying attention? Yoongi shakes his head.

“No. I saw you back there…” Yoongi points to the left where they came from, “and tried to wave you down but you were distracted? You seem to be in your head a lot, Namjoon-ssi. Is everything okay?” Namjoon looks away at being called out.

“Sorry, it's just…work is a lot.” He lies, so smoothly that he almost flinches. Yoongi hums, eyes towards the frozen Han as well.

“Can I ask what you do?”

Namjoon swallows. “I teach at Yonsei.” He even feels embarrassed for saying it and he doesn’t know why.

“You’re a professor? Shit- “ Yoongi curses making Namjoon turn to him. “No, I mean, damn. That’s pretty brilliant, Namjoon-ssi.” Yoongi says this in full honesty and admiration and it gets Namjoons smiling just a little.

“Thank you, Yoongi-ssi, but it's just alright, nothing special.” He mutters, voice going sullen, looking forward again.

“It is,” Yoongi touches his arm, just lightly, “hey, it is.” Namjoon grimaces, nodding. Yoongi’s hand drops.

“That sounds really nice. Wish him a belated birthday from me?” Namjoon sends an honest smile now and Yoongi nods.

“Have you had dinner?” Yoongi asks, changing the topic. Namjoon shakes his head. He wasn’t even planning to have anything.

“Join us?” Their eyes meet and Namjoon blanches. “Me and the three from that day, and a couple more, at a bbq place, join us?” He shakes his head, declining immediately.

“No, Yoongi-ssi, it's fine, I don’t want to be a bother. I- I should go home... it's getting late.” Yoongi frowns, eyebrows furrowing then he speaks.

“We could drop you off if the snow gets too much. It’s really okay.” Breathing feels a little harder for Namjoon suddenly and there's this anxiety about meeting them again and possibly new people. He wasn’t ready.

Not to mention how he didn’t look good enough right now to meet anyone.

“No, really- thanks Yoongi-ssi.“

“Will it be weird for you? Is it weird?” Yoongi asks and Namjoon feels Yoongi trying to convince him. “We’re all nice, hospitable,” Yoongi sends a soft smile and Namjoon almost wants to agree, “and you’ve met Jin hyung, Taehyung and Jimin that day...we’re not going to make you uncomfortable or you know, dive into who you are, it could just be chill, friends eating together kind of chill.”

Friends.

Namjoon doesn’t answer, eyes averting, cast downwards, the two parts of him in different directions, wanting to say yes and no.

“It's okay,” Yoongi breathes out after a while, it is gentle and kind and it doesn't make Namjoon feel bad for not saying anything. “You don’t have to if you don't want to. I understand. Friends and people can be hard on some days.” Namjoon meets Yoongi’s eyes at that and recognizes something he’s feeling inside. Has Yoongi ever felt that way?

“Thank you, Yoongi-ssi.” He mutters softly. Yoongi sends him another soft, kind smile.

“Is it too much to ask you to come back to the cafe at least?” Namjoon grins at that, dimples showing and he shakes his head. Just like that, he feels a little better.

“No, I’ll come.” Yoongi nods, happy with his answer and Namjoon likes the feeling of Yoongi wanting him to come back and wanting to spend time with him.

“Jin hyung and I got a new Madeline and scone recipe we want to put out, you should come and try that out.” Yoongi’s smile is reflective. Namjoon hums, nodding.

“Okay, I’ll be there.” Yoongi huffs a chuckle. Namjoon watches as Yoongi pulls out his phone, unlocks it and passes it to him.

“Could I text you?” Oh. “To let you know what day exactly we’re planning to put it out, don’t want you to miss it.” Namjoon nods and Yoongi continues. “I look forward to your review, Professor.” Namjoon flushes at the look in Yoongi’s eyes so he reaches for Yoongi’s phone, keying in his number, his heart thumping.

“Thank you.” Yoongi murmurs, soft now.

“Thank you, Yoongi-ssi. Do let me know.” Namjoon mumbles, shy but smiling. Yoongi pockets his phone and their conversation ends there.

“See you soon then, Namjoon-ssi, get home safe.” Yoongi waves him off and Namjoon mirrors it.

On the ride back, Namjoon thinks about Yoongi and the dinner if he had said yes. Would he have them to call friends now?

----------

When Namjoon receives the text from Yoongi, it's exactly a week later. He had just showered and was in bed, getting ready to sleep.

Hi, Namjoon-ssi. It's Min Yoongi. We’re planning to put out the new recipes on Friday. Hope to see you then :)

Two days from now. Namjoon grins immediately. Hastily he replies.

Looking forward to it, Yoongi-ssi :)

Namjoon falls asleep a little better that night.
