The Small Mythosaurs of Coruscant
- In the deep there dwell the giants
- Tho smaller than their mountainous kin:
- Bones of beskar, skins thus armored,
- Now forgotten but for tales no longer told.
- Roaming unhindered in the darkness,
- That ancient undercity darkness,
- Sky now starless, concealed by steel
- That in eons past stole in and remained.
- So long the siege! Yet see:
- They persevere, blood and bone
- Still run bright with the Manda,
- Still run strong with the Manda,
- For they indeed have not forgotten,
- For they indeed do not forget the songs
- Long sung to stars no longer seen.
- The Mythosaurs, the ancient Mythosaurs,
- Still endure in Coruscant where once
- The ancestors, the Taungs of yore,
- In eons past had made their home.
- And still their home! For lo,
- ‘Til the Stars are ash, ‘til the planet ends,
- Still the Mythosaurs live on!
Translator's Notes
- In [low-dark] live [big-individuals]
- [If-still/yet] [small-than] their [mountain(abbreviated) + adj. suffix]* bloodline:
- *An example of contraction to fit poetic meter, in this case contracting “cerar’la” into “cer’la”.
- Bones of beskar, skins so armored,
- Now [forget + adj. suffix] [but-for] stories no longer told.
- [distance/range-go] [neg. prefix + trap/catch + adj. suffix] in darkness,
- (Which/what/that) [very-old] [under-city] darkness,
- Night sky now [without/lacking-stars], [hide/conceal + adj. suffix] by [strong-metal]*
- *An older term for durasteel.
- (Which/what/that) in [past prefix + eons] stole in and (stagnated/remained the same).
- So long besieged! [still/yet-now] see:
- They endure, blood and bone
- (Still/yet) run (bright/powerful) with Manda,
- (Still/yet) run strong with Manda,
- Because they (indeed/definitely) [neg. prefix + past prefix + forget],
- Because they (indeed/definitely) [neg. prefix + forget] songs
- Long [past prefix + sing] to Stars no longer seen.
- The Mythosaurs, [very-old] Mythosaurs,
- (Still/yet) endure in Coruscant where [past prefix + time]
- [Original/first children of the Manda], Taungs of [eon + adj. suffix] time,
- In [past prefix + eons] [past prefix + make/create] their home.
- And [still/yet-now] their home! For [general exclamation],
- ‘Til Ka’ra [are-ash], ‘til planet [end + verb suffix]*
- *Kyrir, to end, is no longer as common a word as it once was. In this context it means “to end with total completion”; i.e., the complete destruction of the planet.
- [Still/yet-now] the Mythosaurs [future prefix + live]!*
- *This translator cannot speak as to the truth of whether there remain living populations of mythosaurs on Coruscant to this day, but if one wishes to attempt to find them, this translator also will not stop you from trying.
