The lack of sleep took a toll on all of them, but they couldn't sleep. No, not when one little nap could be the difference between living and dying.
Joey and Will had been able to make the shifts system so they could at least get rest, but not everyone was so lucky to figure that out, so they just went without sleep. In all fairness, it wasn't like they were using up a ton of energy anyways since there wasn't much to do in the mental hospital, but they still were all far more exhausted than they would be if they could just rest. Hell, most of them probably wouldn't be there if it weren't for the nightmares anyway.
Once Kristen arrived, they put her in the same room as Taryn, and the two quickly hit it off. Something about Taryn's timid, IDGAF way she carried herself just eased Kristen's mind, if only a little bit, and the same thing happened for Taryn as well. The blonde's drive to take down Freddy gave her hope for the first time in a very long while. It was nice.
"I'm tired, Taryn" Kristen muttered one evening as the pair got ready for bed. They would never actually sleep during this time, but they had to at least look like they were getting some form of rest so they didn't get in trouble. This was always the hardest part- Lying down in bed, wearing warm pajamas, and snuggling under the covers but not being able to just fall asleep.
"I know, Kris" Taryn muttered from her bed. "Me too"
"Can you come here?"
"Yeah, sure thing" the brunette agreed, making sure no doctors were peaking in before crawling out of her bed and into Kristen's. She curled up next to the other girl, letting out a small string of apologies as her neck jerked against her will, afraid of disturbing the other girl. Kristen didn't mind, though. She never did.
"Thanks" Kristen said quietly as she leaned into the other girl, who occasionally still twitched but much less so now that she was so close to the blonde. Kristen calmed her, and so her tics came out less when they were close like this. "Make sure I don't fall asleep, yeah?"
"Of course" Taryn promised. "And I trust you'll do the same for me, right?"
"Always"
