First Impressions are Very Important, So Don’t Fuck Them Up.

Summary:

Danny is tired. Tired from ghost fights and studying and being summoned willy nilly by random cultists across the states. He’s also tired of having to fly his way home over thousands of miles because they don’t have the decency to provide him with a returning charm or spell. So Danny makes up his mind. The next time he’s summoned he’ll teach those cultists to try to summon the ghost king.

Nothing bad could possibly happen with this train of thought. Right?

Work Text:

Danny was done. He was so damn done. Finals were at the end of the month. He had a shit load of homework to catch up on. With more studying on top of that and to top it off cultists had been summoning him all week long. Some of the summoning circles had return charms built in but most did not. Therefore if he was at home then summoned to bumfuck, New Mexico he would have to fly all the way home.

He was flying back from one of said summonings. This time he had gotten to see a lovely ocean sunset. Sadly the California view had been ruined by the fact that, even at his top speed, Danny still had a three hour flight back home. So by the time he had arrived back home, settled somewhat into his desk chair, and pulled out his homework to try and attempt to finish, or even START, a single page, he was completely spent.

Luckily his parents had already turned in for the night. So he didn’t have to deal with them. Jazz had come in earlier when he had first come home, but was now making him a sort of midnight snack. Danny stared down at his math homework. The longer he stared the paper more blurred the equations got.

There was a knock at his door. Danny blearily looks at his sister. Or at least who he thinks is his sister. She’s kinda just a vague person shape with bright colors. He blinks to try and focus his vision. It doesn’t work.

“Gall Danny. I’m sorry to say, but you look terrible.” Jazz says as she sets the plate of food on his desk. He snorts a bit at the statement. “Eat something and then go to bed. You’re not going to be able to get anything done tonight.”

Danny made some kind of affirming noise as he munched on apple slices with peanut butter and lunch meat on crackers. He sleepily shoves more food into his mouth as Jazz picks up his homework and neatly tucks it away into his backpack for the next morning. She flits around the room, getting things ready for Danny in the morning. Danny on the other hand had finished his snack and was now sipping on a juice pouch.

Just as he got up out of his chair to get ready for bed, a summoning portal appears over head. Danny glares up at it defiantly. “Are you fu—.” Was all he could get out before being swallowed up by the swirling green portal.

Danny had already decided during his flight back home that the next time he was summoned he was going full cryptid. Pulling out all the stops and letting every. Single. OUNCE. Of eldritch out. No holding back. If the mortals couldn’t take it and he ended up melting a few brains then that was on them and not him.

So he let his body stretch and elongate to impossible proportions. Skin growing taunt over his body, highlighting every single bone in a grotesque showcase. Huge horns spiraled out from his temples, his crown resting atop of them, alight in unearthly green flames. His hair grew longer and longer until it reached his mid back. Though the length of his hair did nothing to hide the fact that his eyes were now replaced by endless pools of void. Starry tar leaked down his face from his pit-void-eyes in a mockery of tears. His teeth sharpened and elongated to the point of where his mouth was now full of needle like teeth. An uncannily wide smile framing them perfectly. Incredibly sharp claws tipped his inhumanly long and spindly fingers. A thick icy coating spread from the ends of the claws, thinning as it ran down his fingers, frost dusting the backs of his hands and palms.

Danny reaches forward to slowly rip open the exiting portal. A heavy, icy cold fog rolled from his slightly opened jaws and quickly engulfed the room. He silently exits the portal and hovers a few feet off the ground. He lets out a bone rattling snarl before speaking to the partially hidden figures in the fog he had created.

“WHOMST HAS SUMMONED THE HIGH KING OF THE INFINITE REALMS.” Danny layers his voice in a million echoes, using just the barest amount of ghost speak to give his words and uncanny sound. “YOU HAVE MA—.”

The fog has somewhat lifted and the cloudy figures are now much more recognizable. There in front of him were four members of the Justice League and a mage. They all looked up at him, frozen in terror, with fear in their eyes.

Wonder Woman was the only one who had drawn her weapons. Batman was staring at him with a narrowed gaze, hand on his utility belt. Superman was frozen in place, the only thing even mildly defensive were his curled fists loosely held in a somewhat defensive manner. Flash on the other hand was full on cowering behind Batman. The mage had a half smoked cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth. Hands still raised from the summoning with glowing runes wrapping themselves around his forearms.

In an instant Danny essentially collapses in on himself. Pulling himself back into his original shape and locking away the majority of the eldritchness he had let out. But once he lets go of his control like that it’s quite difficult to reign it back in completely. His horns stayed but shrunk into smaller stubs. Letting his crown float freely above his head. Danny’s hands were still black, skeletal, and icy clawed. His eyes were void pits with starry tar but now had toxic green irises floating in them. Other than that he looked like his normal Phantom self.

Danny nervously glances around and curls in on himself before giving the heroes a timid wave and smile. “Um, hi?” Oh this was not the first impression he had wanted to give.
