Chapter Text

Jungkook had been at Diadem’s College for Advance Magical Arts for all of one day before he ran into his nemesis from his last college, Park Jimin.

“Following me Park?” Jungkook sneered, crossing his arms over his black robes and glaring over his glasses at the blond high elf.

“You wish Jeon,” Jimin snarked back, flipping his head and smoothing his hair back behind his pointed ears, “I am surprised they let you in here with your GPA.”

“They admit anyone these days,” Seokjin muttered, another High Elf who had been in Jimin’s close circle at the last college too.

“Please, spare me the drama. You’re both full of shit, you know you are happy to see me,” Taehyung piped up, the Drow was Jungkook’s best friend and they had happily conspired to come to this graduate institution together.

The four of them had come across each other in the library, and despite the fact you were supposed to be quiet, none of them seemed particularly concerned about the rules. Or about the fact they were drawing attention to themselves.

“We are in neutral territory,” Jungkook reminded them with a smile, “We should at least pretend to get along. We can let out all of our aggression when we have the House Games.”

Jimin rolled his eyes.

“I don’t have time for such things. You are too competitive for your own good Jeon, someone is going to clip your wings one day,” Jimin warned him.

Jungkook took a step forward as did Jimin.

“See, you are competitive too,” Jungkook teased him, “You know you hate to let me have the last word.”

“They really spent four years fighting and intend to do it again for another two?” Seokjin muttered, “I am over it already. I am going back to my table, Jimin.”

“Are you still studying dreamancy?” Taehyung asked Seokjin.

Seokjin stopped mid-step and gave him a cutting look and after a moment, a brief nod.

“I am as well, prepare to be number two to me again,” Taehyung told him primly before turning to his friend, “Jungkook I am going to map out the rest of the campus.”

“You just want to see if Hoseok came with us,” Seokjin accused him, “Don’t even think about it. He’s a teacher’s aide and doesn’t need you bothering him.”

Taehyung just smiled broadly and winked.

Incensed, Seokjin abandoned his plans to go back to the table and snatched up his bag following behind Taehyung.

Jimin rolled his eyes and walked down into the restricted section where all the books were locked up and bespelled.

Jungkook immediately went behind him.

As soon as they were in a private corner, Jimin grabbed him and pushed him up against the wall.

“You really didn’t think you would get away from me did you?” Jimin whispered.

“You were supposed to go to Sea Grims,” Jungkook whispered.

“My parents had that plan, I never did,” Jimin whispered back.

They stared at each other.

“You still irritate me,” Jimin announced, “Your face is always smug.”

“Why wouldn't it be when I have the baddest bitch in the wizarding world spinning circles on my cock?” Jungkook asked him and Jimin hissed at him in rage.

“This is why when I meet you on the dueling grounds I will always flatten you!” Jimin told him angrily.

Jungkook just caressed his face with his darker hand and marveled at the beauty of the ‘forbidden’ fruit. They were not supposed to be together…

The High Elf and Dark Elves nations had only just brokered peace and the two of them being together would cause enough tension that a war might just break out again.

Both of them from high born families, warrior families at that. Goddess only knew how many Parks his ancestors had killed and vice versa.

“Shut up and kiss me,” Jungkook commanded him and Jimin narrowed his pretty silver eyes and for a split second Jungkook thought he would refuse.

Instead, Jimin kissed him; there was the sizzle of their magic meeting and then bliss. They kissed for five minutes straight before coming up for air. Their magic was sparkling slightly, Jimin was flushed and even prettier.

Jungkook held him gently around the waist and pressed a gentler kiss to his Jimin’s forehead, calming the torrent of magic there.

“Why is it always so good?” Jungkook wondered out loud. He would never find a match like this ever again in life and that was why he was determined to hold on to Jimin.

“It is because our magic is compatible,” Jimin said quietly.

“We are too,” Jungkook commented, “Despite what society has to say about it.”

Jimin inclined his head slightly to show he agreed.

Jungkook’s keen hearing picked up someone approaching and he broke away. Jimin looked hurt for a moment before he heard the intruder as well then an icy mask came over his face.

Without another word the High Elf left, taking Jungkook's heart and whole world with him.

Jimin was living in one of the most expensive dorms in the Western Housing district. It was at the top of the tower. He was out on the balcony overlooking the forest that flanked the college on all sides.

His fox familiar Hyorin, currently in her animal form was lounging on his lap and listening to Jimin update her on how the first meeting with Jungkook had gone.

“He’s as aggravating as ever Rinnie, and honestly I don’t know why I put up with him.”

She yipped sarcastically and Jimin blushed.

“OK, yes I am in love with him but still, he says the most crass things!” Jimin complained hotly, “Not to mention he constantly makes trouble that I can’t even defend him from.”

She yawned.

Jimin scratched her ears.

“I don’t know how to live without him anymore, but what future do we have? We are both members of the King’s Courts on both sides. What the hell are we going to do when these two years are up?”

The fox sighed and morphed into a young woman with white hair and a bored but fond expression. She was shimmering with energy that looked like snowflakes.

“Jimin.”

She spoke into his mind, often out of laziness and also to be sure that no one found out there was more to her than being a cute fennec fox. Ninetails spirits such as her were often captured and forced into slavery.

“Mmm?” Jimin murmured.

“You have two years to figure it out. Focus on now and improve your magic. The stronger you are the more you can get away with. Encourage your man to do the same,” Hyorin told him and she held eye contact with him to show she was being serious.

“I will heed your advice,” Jimin promised and she nodded and snuggled into his side.

Jimin picked up his cellphone and checked to see what messages were floating around. He found one from an unknown number and his heart sped up.

###: Meet me in the maze at 9. You know what I want.

Jimin’s libido kicked into gear instantly and a familiar heat bloomed in his body. They had been apart for two months during which they returned to their respective homes and couldn’t contact each other freely.

Messages from area codes all over the world or emails in his inbox that would be flagged as spam was the only way the two of them had communicated.

Jimin didn’t send a reply because even if he tried to respond, the message would not be sent. Jungkook moved like the assassin he was, constantly changing his numbers and using burners.

The man didn’t have social media or an online presence and in the wizarding world, although he had the very recognizable Jeon name, he had gone out of his way to not stand out.

Jimin had quickly realized that Jungkook suppressed his GPA on purpose while in truth there was absolutely nothing in his chosen subject matter that he didn’t excel at.

His trip to the library today had not been for show. By the time they had finished their time here, there would not be a book on enchantment, apothecary or shadow magic that Jungkook had not thoroughly read and made copious, meticulous notes on.

The young mage was inspiring and Jimin had found his match in more ways than one. In his opinion, one of the best things about being around Jungkook, beyond the obvious carnal benefits, was that they pushed each other to their maximum potential.

Jimin had always been an A student, but now he was an S class student who regularly took on extra courses to enhance his understanding.

“He makes me a better man,” Jimin sighed.

He makes you happier… You need to bear this in mind for when things are hard.

Jimin nodded.

Having sent Jimin the message to meet up, Jungkook closed down the computer and picked up Bam’s leash. His hellhound was his baby and he took care of him carefully.

Despite being one of the most dangerous creatures in the world because of his ability to channel shadow and fire magic, Bam was just the sweetest puppy in the world.

“Let’s go Bammie,” Jungkook said.

The hound levitated himself from his bed and then landed neatly.

“Show off,” Jungkook teased him and Bam yipped excitedly. His control of his shadow aura was getting better every-day.

Jungkook used the leash only as a precaution for other people. Bam was perfectly trained.

He took him on a circuit around the entire college and he was on his way back when he ran into Hoseok. The High Elf was not as snooty as most, but Jungkook felt that had a lot to do with the fact that he was irreparably in love with Taehyung, who was a Drow.

It was much like what was going on between him and Jimin but worse because Drow had an even worse reputation in the Courts than Dark Elves did.

“Hail Jungkook,” Hoseok said merrily, “Hello Bammie.”

Bammie barked softly in greeting. He remembered Hoseok from their last college.

“Hi there, teacher’s aide, I hope they are paying you well.”

Hoseok grinned, “They pay me well enough. I should thank you.”

“Why?” Jungkook asked warily. He had no inkling of why Hoseok would be grateful to him.

The High Elf cast a silencing charm so that his words would not be overheard by anyone.

“If you know who wasn’t following you like a tail, I wouldn’t have seen the job listing.”

Jungkook smirked.

“Well, I am grateful for small mercies,” Jungkook said, “But I wasted two months learning how to break into Sea Grims for nothing.”

Hoseok’s eyes widened and then he laughed.

“You are still hilarious I see! You are good for us I think. I am going now,” Hoseok said and he left, waving at them.

Jungkook watched him go with a grim look on his face. The man obviously thought Jungkook had been joking…

He hadn’t been. There was no universe under which he was going to spend two years without making love to Jimin and checking up on him. He had already broken into the school about half a dozen times over the long break making a mockery of all of their defenses.

Ah well. He wasn’t mad though, it was good pratice and it kept him from attempting the more stupid task of trying to get into the Verillium the High Elf Keep where Jimin resided.

Hungry.

Jungkook started at Bam’s voice in his mind.

“Sorry baby,” Jungkook said aloud, “Let’s go get you fed.”

Jungkook started to jog back to the dorm, putting other thoughts out of his mind. He was looking forward to tonight with every fiber of his being.

It had been far too long since he heard Jimin’s moans live and not recorded. Not to mention that getting the High Elf to agree to the voice note of him climaxing had been perhaps his most difficult mission ever.

Jungkook counted it among his prized possession and protected it with a high level jinx. Hopefully he would be able to add another one to it at some point.

He had two years to try.
