Chapter Text
Cursed Ghosts with Elemental abilities are different from their non-Elemental Counterparts. While Regular cursed Ghosts do have the ability to rewrite souls, it’s harder to do with the two souls fighting.
Which soul wins depends completely on the person and their will to live.
But This is thrown almost completely out the window with those who possess elemental abilities. If the ghost has the elemental ability, the ghost will win and vice-versa with the possessed Person.
Though Ghosts with Elemental Abilities are so rare. I have… resorted to certain things for my experiments.
But, in all my years, I have never been able to study what would happen if both parties were elemental masters.
I do not dream of that ideal anymore. I hope for two things now. My quick death, befitting my magic and that my daughter does not dream of death like her mother ever did.
-Excerpt from unknown Elemental Master’s books about Ghosts from the Cursed Realm
Morro did not have to sleep. But Lloyd’s Body did. But He did not really care for what Lloyd’s body needed, other than the bare Basics. Water is drunk very cautiously, and Food is even rarer.
But tonight, of all nights, The Same as the one where he’d tried to get into that darned Samurai X base – The World seemed to lay on His Shoulders and his eyelids were heavy.
He had made a statement about it earlier and Soul Archer seemed to smirk.
“Why don’t you go take a Nap?” He had said, damned smirk still planted on His face. “You are in a Living Vessel after all!”
There was something more to the statement – Something ever so similar to deceit.
“I Have better things to do.” Morro Declared.
“C’mon! Aren’t you tired? That Vessel is alive and breathing! If you’re feeling tired you should know what that means!” He laughs. “Take a Nap. Everything will be fine! we’re far ahead of the ninja at this point.”
Morro Thought for a second. Soul Archer was being much to smug about him “taking a nap”. A conversation with another ghost passes through his thoughts – An old historian who supposedly killed an Elemental Master.
“She wanted death, craved it really. but I did not kill her for mercy. She did a lot of fucked up shit, learning about ghosts. She’s probably here, actually. I’ve done my best to avoid anyone who even slightly looked like her.” The ghost had told him. Morro himself had been dead five years now, wounds still open and festering.
“What does this have to do with me?” He had hissed.
“She did teach me a lot about Ghosts before I became one. She told me all about how the soul can be split and broken apart. How it can be bartered for personality and the feeling of wholeness. Do you know how rare it is for a Ghost to keep their elemental abilities after death? She only did it successfully once. That ghost did anything in its power to die. If you ever get out of here, Morro. You should be wary of what Cursed ghosts like us can do.”
Morro had always thought the other ghost a weirdo, despite that being their only proper conversation.
Sleep was still calling for him, Leaping and clawing at him to get him to fall deeper into its abyss.
“Fine.” He Hissed. He Tried his best to close his eyes and sleep.
Sleep quickly grabbed him and pulled him into its ever-hating gaze.
Morro Did not Dream. He could not, as a ghost.
Before that, he did not usually dream either. But here he was, Dreaming.
He was in an Art Gallery, Claustrophobic walls covered in paintings of what looked to be memories.
Not his, but Lloyd’s.
There were inscriptions underneath – Stating the date, what was happening and Lloyd’s current thoughts about the memory.
He Turned around to see if there was an exit, but there was just a Blank wall.
So, he started to walk.
The memories seem to change as it appeared Lloyd got older and older.
One memory caught his eye.
This… This must’ve been when Lloyd was chosen as the green ninja. The role Morro so rightfully deserved.
The words underneath are surprising.
“Looking back at it, today was the worst day of my life.”
Who wouldn’t want to become the Green Ninja? (It Might be the title that was rightfully his, but everybody in this day and age wanted to be the green ninja, didn’t they?)
He Stares at the Memory and or Painting for much too Long. The Silence is almost deafening.
“If I had a choice, I would give up being the green ninja and hand it to you.” Lloyd’s voice strikes through the Silence. Its different from when he’s heard the other boy’s voice before. Its almost Cloudy in a way.
Morro Almost Jumps out of his (Non-existent) skin at the suddenness of it.
“Why?” The question comes from his throat unexpectantly.
“I wanted to have friends and a Family who loved me. Not the weight of the world on my shoulders. I’m just a Kid.”
Morro’s Gaze Turns Back to the Painting and or Memory. The Deafening silence returns again, spilling from cracks in the walls.
“Can I ask you a question?”
Instead of an answer, He nods.
“I think I’m dying. Not in a physical way, in a… I won’t be me anymore way. But it’s Slow and I think I can feel it happening to you too. What is it?” Lloyd sounds oddly Calm at the prospect of his own Almost-death. Is it because he’s bringing Morro down with him?
“That’s the Rewriting. Cursed Ghosts have the ability to rewrite people. Elemental Ghosts will always overpower a regular person and vice-versa. Do they not teach you anything?” He Recalls, thinking back to a conversation he had with a fellow dead man.
“You Possessed me before I could figure out anything about ghosts! I don’t know anything. Your Own memories are Sadder to look at, so I try to tune your voice out most of the time.” Lloyd said distantly.
“Fair.” Morro Paused for a moment to think. There’s a lot to think about, just like when he was in that cave, dying for the first time. Will he die again? Trapped in this never-ending corridor. He is Apathetic in a way to the idea of his second death, the one that will truly erase him.
So he thinks about a conversation with a Long Dead Historian who killed an old woman in her sleep. He Turns to Lloyd, who has a Vacant Look in his hollow eyes and Asks a Question.
“Do you want to make a Deal?”
