(Day 1)
The ceiling looked the same as it always did whenever she used the bathroom. It was painted a light gray color and the light above was dim since Kirari never believed in obnoxiously bright lights.
Sayaka never thought she'd be here.
Here? As in; married to Kirari Momobami, having a well-paying job alongside said wife, a huge house and?
Pregnant.
Her nervous dark eyes stared down at the stick as she sat on the closed toilet lid, deep in thought.
Sayaka was pregnant.
Of course, it made sense. They'd been trying for a while now-- having been to the sperm bank months ago and after what felt like mountains of paperwork and legal crap, they were able to start the process weeks ago.
And here was the result.
Two bold pink lines.
Sayaka let it sink in, she'd found out minutes ago but it didn't feel real just yet. She was still processing it.
"Holy shit.." She mumbled, examining the test a little further to see if it what she was seeing was correct.
Perhaps it was just a trick of the light?
After a few more seconds of close inspection, she'd reached her conclusion; she was definitely pregnant.
It was nearing late afternoon on a Saturday-- she and her wife were off work for the day-- but Kirari had gone to the store half an hour ago and Sayaka had decided to use her time alone to take the test.
Before taking it, she'd had her doubts.
But now?
She sighed deeply, clutching the test in a firm grasp and holding it to her chest, thoughts still running rapid.
The sound of the front door opening from downstairs suddenly caught her attention.
Fuck.
Her wife was home.
Granted, Sayaka was truly happy to tell Kirari the news but she was also nervous.. What if this felt too sudden? How would Kirari react? Sayaka had always been an overthinker and that hadn't changed much.
"Sayaka, I'm home!"
Kirari's distant shout filled her mind-- erasing all the doubt she had in a single phrase.
The look of thought-process and fear was wiped off and replaced with a small smile. She was pregnant and was about to tell her wife the good news! She should be happy about it, right? Ready to celebrate?
Not wanting to cause concern, Sayaka got up quickly and shut the light off, closing the door a little louder than normal to let Kirari now she was coming down.
Their house wasn't a mansion as some would expect but it certainly wasn't small either. The couple lived in a nice, quiet neighborhood in the south of Japan.
Sure, they could've afforded a mansion easily but Kirari insisted on having a quiet life with her wife instead and Sayaka had absolutely no complaints about it.
Kirari had severed ties with the Momobami clan. The only blood family member she stayed in contact with was her dear twin, Ririka, of course.
Sayaka couldn't have been prouder.
Making her way down the stairs, she took a second to admire her wife as she was bent over, putting groceries away-- having just been to the grocery store, it seems.
"Are you enjoying the view?" Kirari hummed without even looking back at Sayaka.
Damnit, how'd she know?
Sayaka blushed lightly, leaning against the island in the kitchen and offering little help by tossing out the plastic shopping bags in the nearby trash bin.
"Who said I was looking?"
Kirari smirked, finally standing up and taking a break to greet the woman she loved with a nice kiss.
"You didn't deny it, darling."
Sayaka rolled her eyes, gently grabbing Kirari by the waist as she stepped closer to her-- their lips met in a soft, loving kiss and she felt her wife's hand brush up against her cheek during it. She loved the soft touch.
"Hello to you too."
Kirari let herself laugh at Sayaka's light sarcasm as they pulled away. She took a second just to admire her. Her former-secretary was still as beautiful as ever.
Even in their late-twenties neither woman looked a day past their time at the Academy, it was truly fascinating.
Sayaka realized in this moment she probably should've planned out how she was going to tell her wife. What she was going to say or do.. But? She hadn't prepared and now she stood there staring.. Like an idiot.
A pregnant idiot.
"You're making that face again, Sayaka."
Kirari seemed amused as always, waking past her and going to sit comfortably on the couch that was a few feet away in the living room next to the kitchen- motioning with a hand for her to follow and come sit with her. Those blue nails would be the death of her.
Sayaka obeyed like always, following.
She internally cursed the way her wife always new something was on her mind. How was that even possible?
"What face, honey?"
She sat down next to the older woman-- the test was in her gray sweatpants pocket-- and eyed her.
Kirari leaned forward and booped her nose, smiling.
"This face." She answered as she booped her.
The former-president had always had a secret soft side.
Sayaka tried not to but couldn't help the smile that spread across her features. Kirari was cute sometimes.
"I.. Okay, I admit.." She sighed, "I have news.. Big news."
Kirari became visibly more attentive upon hearing the confession-- she sat up a little too, showing Sayaka she was listening attentively and observantly.
She wanted to say it outright.
But the words wouldn't come out. They stayed locked in the back of her throat for the longest time.
"Whatever it is, I assure you, you can tell me, love."
Kirari's tone was always so gentle with her.
Sayaka appreiacted it but she still felt herself at loss on how to word her announcement. So, she opted to pull the test of out her pocket and hand it to Kirari instead.
She was a smart girl. She'd figure it out, surely.
A paler hand accepted the item placed in her hand without hesitation and looked down at it.
It was.. A pregnancy test?
Confused blue eyes looked up at Sayaka immediately and then back down at the test instantly..
No, no way.
"You.. You're..?" She searched for the word.
"Pregnant." Sayaka confirmed.
Kirari's eyes widended for just a split second and then proceeded to soften like they'd never softened before. She looked at her wife with the warmest expression she'd ever given anyone before all her life.
"Really, Sayaka?" She asked, hopefully.
Sayaka returned the smile, scooting closer on the couch and letting Kirari move to hold her close.
She laid her head on Kirari's chest, snuggling into the oversized shirt her lover was wearing that smelt like her.
"Really, my love."
Kirari leaned down and planted a kiss to Sayaka's temple and nuzzled into her, sighing contently.
"How wonderful.."
---
(6 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵)
Wonderful? Huh
That didn't last very long.
Sayaka was happy to be pregnant but as she expelled the contents of her stomach into the bathroom toilet of her work building, she was seriously ready to rethink some of her latest life choices.
So, what had the infamous Kirari and Sayaka Momobami get up to after both graduating the Academy with high marks? What did they do for work?
They ran a casino together.
Kirari had come up with the idea on a whim and they'd went with it. Well-- Sayaka went with it because she loved her wife dearly and would follow her anywhere.
The former-president really just wanted an excuse to create and design extravagant and excessively large aquariums to place throughout the building.
Which, she did.
The Momobami casino was the busiest and most successful casino in all of Japan, possibly the world.
It was constantly busy.
The building consisted of a huge gambling floor. The usual slot-machines and games of poker being played. There was a bustling bar that served the finest drinks next to the main floor. Then, various gambling dens spread out on the next few floors. Finally, the top floor was for business and where most of their employees resided in. Kirari and Sayaka spent most time up there handling the legal protocols as owners.
Sometimes-- most times, actually-- Kirari would enter the gambling floor herself just to stir the pot.
Durning those times, Sayaka worked as a waitress for the bar just so she could keep an eye on her wife.
Yes, she still kept a taser on her at all times.
But back to the matter at hand.
Sayaka groaned quitely, leaning against her forearm on toilet seat-- she could feel herself sweating.
She felt gross.
This had to be the fifth time she'd had to excuse herself to throw up that day! Morning sickness? Ha! More like all day sickness for her case, unforntetly.
"Shh.."
The cooing sound came with a gentle hand on her back. Her wife, no doubt. She must've finally gotten concerned enough to follow after her this time.
Kirari would've followed the first time but the first four times of Sayaka leaving she'd insisted she was fine. The last time though, Kirari decided to just follow anyway.
"I've brought you some water.."
Sayaka picked her sweaty head from her forearm and forced a weak smile, reaching over and taking the plastic cup Kirari had filled with water from the jug out in the hall before she'd come in-- a funny mental image was that. Kirari quickly filling up a cup of water before following after her wife who was puking her guts out?
"T-thank you, darling."
A dainty pale hand rubbed comforting circles into Sayaka's back, humming to her as she drank her water.
"You know? You are your own boss. You could always go home if you're not feeling--"
"No." Sayaka insisted, catching her breath. "I'm okay.."
Kirari's blue lips tugged up in a sly grin.
"You said that the last four times.."
Sayaka was damn stubbon.
"And I'll say it again."
Kirari chuckled, shaking her head-- braids swaying just a little due to the motion, "Are you going to be this obstinate throughout your entire pregnancy, Sayaka? I hope you're aware I won't allow my pregnant wife to work herself into the ground." She said a little firmly.
Sayaka didn't get a chance to reply-- the urge to vomit over took her body and she surged forward, puking the remaining contents of her stomach once again.
Her wife forwned just a little.
"There you go.. Let it out, that's it."
Her mindless praises were always appreiacted.
Kirari was such a sweetheart to the woman she loved but she was in for it. Sayaka would be exceedingly headstrong over the next few months-- infinitly so.

Finally, the day of their first ultrasound came around.
Sayaka has been nervous, unsurprisingly.
The "morning" sickness had gotten progressively worse, as expected. All the online articles depicted that week nine and ten were the worst of it and for most, it subsided after that. They'd just have to wait and see.
It was far too early to be awake on a Sunday-- another one of their days off-- but neither woman complained.
Throughout the last two months, it had been fairly easy. Sure, the sickness and bloating wasn't fun but Kirari had been her normal self, which Sayaka liked but she often wondered if her wife had yet to grasp the situation. Kirari was unreadable these days.
Much like now-- as they sat in the waiting room.
It was a dull room that smelt of chemicals and poor scented candles. A few others couples sat scattered in pairs in the uncomfortable chairs around the room. Directly across from them sat a mother-- who was busy on her phone-- and a little boy, likely bored out of his mind. Kirari didn't blame him, she was too.
Sayaka paid no mind to those around them, just anxiously bouncing a leg and flipping through the free magazines they offered on the side table.
Kirari dozed of to la-la-land, resting her chin in the palm of one of her hands, mindlessly creasing her wife's thigh. Sayaka looked too cute done up in her skirt and tights to be so worried and worked up.
"Deep breaths." Kirari reminded her lowly.
Sayaka was thankful for the reminder-- quickly releasing a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding.
"I'm excited but nervous." Sayaka confessed.
Kirari smiled fondly, "I am too, but worry not. It'll be fine. It's just a standard procedure." She soothed.
"I'm aware.. It's just.." She pondered her statement for a second before looking to meet Kirari's eyes, "We'll get to hear it for the first time today.. You know, love?"
The platinum blonde arced a brow.
"Hear what?"
Sayaka intertwined their fingers in between their seats.
"The heartbeat, Rari.."
Oh.
Kirari hadn't realized that. The look of realization was struck on her face and she, for once, was silenced.
That was, until the little boy across the room from them became too free with his mouth and spoke.
"Mama! Why's that lady so white?"
Sayaka's eyes darted over to the child, then to the mother who was dismissing her son's words and continued to speak into her phone carelessly.
Unbelievable.
But, it wasn't the first time.
The Momobami twins often got comments on their skin tone. Most children didn't understand the concept of some people simply being albino. It was innocent.
Kirari stunned expression turnt to a wicked smirk.
Oh no.
Sayaka tried to stop the words that flew from her wife's blue lips but it was impossible.
The older woman was a child herself sometimes.
"I'm a ghost, you peculiar little creature--"
The little boys face looked struck of horror as the nearby door swung opened a nurse in pink srubs holding a clipboard appeared and stood there idly.
"Momobami?"
Upon their name being called-- thankfully-- Sayaka grabbed her wife's arm, pulling her along and rolling her eyes as the boy began to cry and whine to his mother.
They'd seriously have to work on Kirari skills with children..
---
Hearing the heartbeat for the first time changed something in Kirari. Sayaka sensed it straightaway.
She was laying down in the same bed thousands of mother's-to-be had laid on with her shirt rolled up to reveal her flat stomach. There wasn't much to show off yet-- maybe a tiny bump but that was hardly anything.
The gel was cold but Sayaka didn't mind it.
Kirari stood at her bedside, fingers locked in a sweet grasp. Occasionally, she'd bring it up to her lips and press gentle comforting kisses to her knucles. The faint blue smudges her lipstick left was endearing.
The nurse was friendly enough, making light conversation with Sayaka now and then.
But none of that mattered when they heard it.
The thumping of the unborn life they'd created.
Their child's heartbeat.
Sayaka's eyes were glued to the dark pixels on the small screen to her right. That.. That was their baby.
It was real.
Real.
The heartbeat had been a turning point for Kirari.
It was one thing to see the results on a test. It was one thing to witness the up's and the down's through her wife.. But it was also one thing to actually hear it.
This was really happening.
They were going to be parents.
Kirari tried her best to listen to whatever else the nurse said but was pratically on cloud nine for the rest of the appointment and was grinning from ear-to-ear the entire car ride home. There wasn't much to look at just yet but the sonagram photo was printed for them.
Seeing her wife so expressively happy was rare but Sayaka was happy to see it. Kirari had a cute smile.
From that point on though? Kirari became a saint.

(11 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵)
Over the course of the next few weeks, she began to tend to her more frequently. She never gave her too much work at the casino and never let her lift practically anything. It was ridiculous at times-- admittedly.
She even tried to cook for her and that? It's attempt was.. Kind.. But Kirari couldn't cook to save her life.
Sayaka was lucky to have such a mindful wife but it was such an unexpected change in Kirari. She'd gone from how she usually was to practically hovering over her. At this point, Sayaka wouldn't be surprised if the woman tried to wrap her in bubble wrap for safety.
She was just around eleven weeks when she finally said something about the drastic measures though.
Eleven weeks pregnant gave her a small bump now. It was adorable, in Kirari's opinion and above all? Fascinating. Her wife's body was slowly changing and the process would no doubt be intresting to her.
They'd just got home from work and had entered the front door, having taken off their shoes.
"Sayaka, if you wish to go upstiars, I should carry you." Kirari suddenly announced shamlessly.
Had she heard correctly?
"Pardon?"
"I'll carry you upstiars, I insist."
Sayaka had been feeling a tiny bit better and hadn't been throwing up as much so, she was in fairly good mood and wasn't annoyed by Kirari's protection.
But? This made her laugh.
It was rare that Kirari Momobami blushed but being laughed at by her wife was something that always triggered a light pink color to appear on her light skin.
"S-sweetheart.." She said through laughter.
Kirari almost pouted, looking away.
"H-hey.. Look at me." Sayaka cooed, still laughing a little before moving to lightly pinch one of her wife's reddening cheeks. "I love you, okay?" She needed Kirari to know that. Just for good measures, she leaned in and kissed her lips after that.
Kirari returned the kiss depsite looking seconds away from a tantrum herself. "I love you too, dear.."
Sayaka creased her cheek now instead of pinching it and shook her head, still finding her wife's actions and shameless statements to be affectionately funny.
"That being said, I don't need to be carried." She confirmed, "Physical movement is good for the baby and I'll be very careful, as I always am."
It was true-- Sayaka was always careful before and espeically now. Kirari trusted she'd be okay.
Yet, that didn't mean she wouldn't worry and or oversee every step her wife took just in case assistance was needed or wanted. She truly was whipped at this point.
Kirari's eagerness to carry her also held another layer of funniess because of thr fact that Kirari wasn't that strong. She was strong enough bur Sayaka had always powered over the former-president. The shorter girl was practically buff-- in Midari's words.
Sayaka doubted her wife's ablilty to carry her but didn't say that-- not wanting to bruise her ego.
"C'mon, I'd like a nap.." She cooed, taking Kirari's hand and leading them up the stairs.
Kirari followed like a watch dog, not taking her eyes off of Sayaka's form or her small bump as they did.

(15 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵)
The first trimester was offically over.
Meaning? They were one-third of the way there to becoming parents-- or whatecer fraction it was. Kirari always thought that math was simply a waste of time.
Same with reading.
Kirari also always thought that reading books was lack luster when one could go and experience real things instead of reading it on a page in text form.
Sayaka, on the other hand, adored reading.
She always had a book in her hand when they had spare time. The idea of reading for fun was a bore for Kirari but Sayaka would be perfectly fine doing so.
Which was why the couple found themselves in a bookstore in the downtown area of their city.
Japan was always known for having intriguing little stores in their various outdoor strip mall areas. They'd been out browsing and window shopping on a small date after getting tea-- it wasn't nearly as good as Sayaka's tea-- when Sayaka had drug them inside.
The bookstore was pretty big compared to what one would assume it'd look like. There was a few other people inside, children running around here and there.
There was a children's corner with a color rug and small toys and children's books that looked far more inviting than anything else with all their bright colors and pictures. The rest of the store was pretty basic, just large various shelves of books ranging in topics and genres. It was heaven for some, hell for others.
It was a quiet, calm atmosphere..
Until it wasn't.
A few aisles down, a child could be heard subjecting to a tantrum for some unknown reason.
Kirari kept a poker face, following after her wife like another unamused child, watching with half-interest while Sayaka led them over to the health section.
"Why are we blessing this buildings walls with our presence, Sayaka? We could always result to online shopping when it comes to these things, darling.."
Kirari really didn't wanna stand there gazing over literature while listening to a child scream and cry.
Sayaka found her way to the pregnancy section and began selecting books about "Child Care 101" and "Guide To Baby Proofing A House" and other books that would include all the pregnancy facts one needed.
Of course..
Kirari should've known Sayaka would eventually turn to reading about pregnancy and all things alike.
It was very.. Sayaka.
"We've nothing else to do and it certainly wouldn't hurt for you to read up on this too, Rari." Sayaka teased.
At least her smile was cute.
She had a small stack on books in her arms by now-- which Kirari quickly took from her to carry herself.
"Why read it when I could watch it happen right in front of me instead?" Kirari pondered, eyeing her wife's growing bump-- the physical change was captivating.
Sayaka rolled her eyes at her wife's hopeless refusal to read. She wondered who their child would take after. Would they be a bookworm like herself? Or a risk-taker like Kirari? Oh God, please let it be books!
The couple made their way through the store-- watching as the mother finally tried to calm down the kid who was still causing ruckus and crying.
"Sayaka? Care to a small gamble?" Kirari suddenly mused, trailing behind her pregnant wife while carrying all the books, "I bet you fifty yen that that small offspring's lung collapses within the next few--"
"No." Sayaka cut her off gently-- used to Kirari's absurd gambling offers, no matter how small. "No gambling in the bookstore, I beg of you." She whined.
Kirari didn't get time to pout or object since they'd made it to the front of the store and there was no line.
The books were placed on the counter and as Sayaka handled the small interaction with the cashier and paid-- something caught Kirari's eye and she wandered off.
"I suppose we could stop by the tackle shop on our way home, babe, you could get--" Sayaka had been talking to her wife, only to pause mid-sentence when she realized that Kirari was no longer standing there.
Oh shit!
Sayaka glanced at the cashier, who pointed over to the colorful kid's area after seeing Kirari walk in that direction. Her worry intensified! She thanked the cashier and momentarily left her books on the counter as they were packaged up. She walked off in the direction
Worry filled her chest as she approuched the area. It was filled of rainbows and flowers and castles but all Sayaka could invision was destruction. A blue and white snowy dragon coming to breath ice down on the fairytales and dreams of those in it's path.
Why? Because Kirari was painfully unpredictable when it came to children and the crying child had stopped around the same time as Kirari wandered off. It surely couldn't have been a consequence!
"Please don't be a lawsuit.." Sayaka muttered to herself as she turnt the corner and looked for her wife.
What she saw made her freeze up like she'd never freezed up before and that spoke volume for her.
There was Kirari, sitting on the rainbow rug next to a little girl and her mother. The little girl had puffy eyes-- having been the one that was crying minutes ago-- but was sniffling and smiling now instead.
The mother simply looked relieved that the crying had stopped and Kirari? The woman was reading a book.
Kirari.. Was reading a book to comfort a small child?
Sayaka's eyes widened a little but she didn't dare interrupt the domestic scene unfolding in front of her.
"Sharks are the ocean's scariest predators, it's why little fish often stay together, for safety.." She hummed.
The little girl perked up when Kirari turnt the page and seen a cartoon drawing of a red crab on a sandy beach. She sat up a bit and pointed at it on the page repeatedly, beginning to babble in toddler language.
Obviously, Kirari had no idea what the toddler had said since it was mainly incoherent nonsense but she surprisingly played along with it as if she understood.
"Yes, that's correct." Kirari nodded, "This is a crab, they like to hide in the sand.. If you attend the beach, I advise you be careful, crabs always go for the toes."
She reached down and playfully shook one of the girls shoes on her feet to emphasize the toe part.
The toddler burst into happy giggles, as did the mother.
Sayaka tried not to laugh but she couldn't help it. Her wife was being so.. Motherly.. So caring?
Her heart couldn't take it.
She broughy a hand up to cover her huge smile as Kirari finally looked up and noticed her wife watching.
Kirari was suprised to see her wife but smiled when she seen her. Sayaka looked very happy in that moment.
"Ah, I must go." She said, turning and gently patting the child on her blonde head, "Take care now, little one."
The child and mother waved their goodbyes while Kirari got up, brushing off her black slacks and taking the book with her. She walked off towards Sayaka with an amused expression on her face.
"I've found a book I believe is most suitable for our little fish." Kirari stated, holding up the book she'd been reading to the little girl, showing Sayaka the cover.
It was a blue covered book with a bunch of sea animals on it and mostly types of cartoon fish.
'Ocean Life; For Kids' was on the cover in block letters.
Sayaka dropped her hand from her mouth to, showing her wide smile. Her heart was going to explode!
There was something about the way Kirari called their baby "our little fish" that was too sweet to her.
"That's an excellent choice, my love." She praised, taking Kirari's hand and leading her back to the front to buy one more book and then head home.

(20 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵)
"No! Not that piece! This one! Uh, dumbass!"
Mary Satome's voice was always distinctively bitchy for some reason. She always appeared pissed off.
Kirari found the blonde's angry outbursts to be almost as entertaining as teasing Sayaka. Key word; almost.
Not entirely.
Mary had her moments where Kirari felt nothing but dislike for the woman who'd married her twin sister.
But, somehow, she kept Ririka happy so, for that-- and only for that reason-- she would try and be civil.
Another key word; try.
They'd reached the point in Sayaka's pregnancy that it was time to start preparing the nursery. Logically, one would start with the most tedious and difficult part of the process first, right? Thus-- the informous Ikea crib.
That's how Kirari ended up on floor of their spare bedroom with Mary Satome, struggling to understand the unhelpfully vauge instructions. It was an infuriating process and both girls agreed on that heavily.
"So far, I've counted fifteen swear words." Kirari uttered.
"Fuck off, snow white." Mary hissed, her face burried behind the wordy manual, ignoring the other woman.
Screws and scattered pieces of the crib surrounded the pair, along with a small hammer and screw driver.
"I stand corrected, that's sixteen then."
Mary glared at the older woman over the manual before she tossed it down and rolled her eyes.
"I'm honestly surprised you know how to count.." Mary scoffed, picking up the small screw driver and screwing two pieces of the crib together.
Kirari didn't feed into the negativity or snarky comment in the way many might assume she would. They didn't hate each other-- most of the dislike between them was one-sided on Mary's part. Kirari simply found Mary fascinating and enjoyed messing with her much to her sister's dismay. The outbursts were enjoyable.
"I'm fortunate to be full of surprises." She shrugged, handing Mary another small part. So far, they'd managed to get the base of the white crib together.
"That wasn't a compliment! God, I hope your kid gets it's braincell count from Sayaka and not you, if it's the latter then they're fucking screwed!"
Kirari smiled in response, shrugging once more.
"I hope that's the case as well, having another Sayaka running around would be marvelous!"
---
Mary's distant groan could be heard from downstairs.
Clearly, the pair constructing (attempting to) the crib were having a lot of fun working together.
Meanwhile, Sayaka was busy in the kitchen and Ririka was down with her making her latest pregnancy craving; pickles with cheese and chocolate-covered watermelon. Yeah.. It was pretty odd to make.
But Ririka was happy to cook for her sister-in-law and would give her future niece or nephew anything that their little heart desired. She was beyond exicted to be an auntie and could tell Mary was too, in her own ways but the blonde wasn't very open about it.
Sayaka had her reading glasses on as she typed away at the computer whilst sitting at the bar counter in their kitchen on one of the stools, finalizing an email and making sure to plan ahead for her and Kirari's monthly schedules. She normally wore her contacts but when she was just at home, glasses were easier. According to Kirari, she looked dashing in her glasses. Sayaka thought they made her look like a nerdy middler schooler again. Kirari always called her cute.
Each time they'd hear Mary shout, the two-- much more civil-- girls would exhange looks of concern. That, or they'd look at each other and giggle. Mary and Kirari's constant bickering was more playful than most let on but above all? It was downright hilarious.
Not that Sayaka liked listening to her wife get verbally ripped apart, no, certainly not but now that she was older, she realized that some of the things her wife had done to Mary were.. Questionable.. So, she allowed Mary to throw a few snarky comments here and there.
It was just a loosing battle. They'd likely never become best friends but as long as they could tolerate each other Ririka was happy. She was the only to suggest they build the crib together to "bond" or whatever.
From the sound of it? They were defineltly.. Doing something. Perhaps bonding wasn't the word though.
"They truly are hopeless.." Ririka laughed, making the strange food combinations without any complaints.
Sayaka wasn't sure why she craved what she did but it's not like she could control it. Kirari never said anything about it, if anything she found her desperation for odd edibles pairings comical if anything.
"I agree but? At least they haven't resulted to throwing things at each other," Sayaka mused, nodding while the computer screen lit up her face in light blue, "Yet." She added and it caused Ririka to laugh a little more.
Suddenly the sound of something small smashing could be heard from thr future nursery. It was likely Mary, but one of the girls must've had enough of the other or something too crude had been said.
Looks like she spoke too soon..
Whatever they just broke? It'd be easily replaced.
The sound of breakage caused Sayaka to roll her eyes.
"Should we really have left them unattended with each other in a single room with a hammer?" Ririka asked.
A fair question, now that it was brought up.
"Probably not." Sayaka concurred, sighing.
Ririka had finally finished up with the pregnancy snacks and passed them to Sayaka on a tray, hopeing they were to the woman's liking-- they likely would be.
"You've been at that for awhile now, wanna take a break and have a snack?" Ririka suggested, knowing her sister wouldn't appreiacte her letting Sayaka keep working on the same emails she had been for a few hours.
But, as stated beforehand, Sayaka was stubborn.
"In a few minutes, thank you."
The former-secretary contiuned typing, finalising little words or small bits of punctuations. She was incredibly focused-- when all of a sudden?
Her laptop screen was closed shut from someone behind her and she felt a kiss being placed in the crook of her neck. Kirari and Mary must've snook down into the kitchen after smelling the odd food be ready.
Kirari was always a master of surprising her and this time was no different. She'd scared the shit out of her.
"K-kirari!" Sayaka squeaked, a dark blush tinting her skin from the unexpected affection. "Y-you scared me!"
Kirari hummed, hugging her wife from behind and kissing her cheek now instead. One of her hands laid reassuringly over her wife's now pretty noticable bump. She wanted to apologize for scaring her in her own way; by physical touch. She rubbed small circles into the bump and smiled-- Sayaka was adorable when in fear. Maybe that was the sadist part of her showing.
"Oh? I've always managed to do that, Sayaka."
The way she drug out each syllable in her name would be the death of her-- Sayaka was convinced so.
If Kirari had come down, that had to mean Mary had too and sure enough-- when Sayaka looked down, she seen the blonde standing next to her own wife, giving Kirari a rather annoyed look, the usual Satome stare.
"Don't scare your pregnant wife, you albino rat.." Mary snarked under her breath-- earning a look from Ririka.
Albino rat?
"My, you get so creative with your insults Satome.." Kirari complimented, narrowing her eyes, still holding onto Sayaka lovingly, "Too bad you lack the ablility to apply such conviction to other aspects of your life."
Mary pratically growled but Ririka put a hand on her shorter wife's shoulder before the blonde could bite back with her own comeback. If they started a back-and-fourth? Only God knows when it would stop.
"Hey, no arguing in front of Sayaka.. It's bad for the baby.. We don't wanna stress her out.." She gently pointed out but her tone was a bit firmer than usual.
For once, the two actually listened and shut up equally as fast. Mary opting to stay quiet and Kirari returning to her gentle hand motions on her belly and the whispering of soft nothing's in her ear as another small apology.
Sayaka was glad for the sudden quietness. It was much easier to work with Mary and Kirari going for each other's throats right in her ear. She went to open the laptop once more but a pale hand with signature blue nails stopped her from doing so.
"Rari?--" She started.
"You've worked enough today, my love."
Kirari wasn't going to let her work anymore. It was obvious from the oddly low breathlessness in her tone.
As the other couple had their moment, Mary let her curiosity get the best of her and decided to try one of the chocolate-covered watermelon pieces. Ririka was a great cook after all! Surely, it couldn't be that bad--
No, it was bad.
Fruits and chocolate was never a bad combination but watermelon? The watery susbstance made for an odd texture and weird taste overall and Mary immediately went to pull a face and or gag but both twins sent her a look before she could do so and risk embrassing Sayaka.
Ririka's was a softer scolding expression but Kirari's? The snowy-haired woman glared at the blonde-- daring her to imply her precious Sayaka had bad taste.
"F-fuck..." Mary let slip out.
Kirari's jaw tightened, shaking her head. She silently motioned for Mary to check herself before it got worse.
"Fuck.." Mary repeated, nervously, "T-that.. That's so good!" She managed to correct herself.
Sayaka smiled innocently, happily eating the food like it was the best thing on planet earth and to her? It was.
Mary then smirked, swallowing the last of the horrible food and her own words had gave her idea.
"It really is great! Kirari? You try some, it's so good!"
The blonde insisted, handing a piece to the older woman with an amused shit-eating grin on her face.
This asshole..
Kirari couldn't oppose. There was too high of a risk of Sayaka getting offended due to pregnancy hormones.
Reluctantly.. She took the piece of food and took a bite.
Bless Sayaka's heart but it was really bad.
But Sayaka looked adorable so happy with her dinner that Kirari couldn't pull a face or let her know it was bad.

It was hardly two weeks later when the gender of the baby was finally revealed. It wasn't done through a gathering or with confetti or balloons in either pink or blue-- it was done alone, just between the couple and the results were then passed on to those that mattered.
As Sayaka progressed into the later stages of pregnancy and approached the pending maternity leave, Kirari was begining to give her wife less workloads and was actually doing more for herself.
It was less overall on Sayaka and the baby but it caused for Kirari to be working more than nornally.
It meant that, unforntetly, Kirari had to miss her twenty-two week appointment and ultrasound.
Sayaka wasn't too distraught. She'd kindly asked that the nurse write the gender in an envelope for her and Kirari to look at later. They'd find out together. The nurse thought it was a great idea and happily did so.
So? There Sayaka was, holding the envelope as she approached the desk her wife was busy at. Kirari was actually typing her own emails for once? Shocker..
Kirari didn't look away from her screen or stop typing but she did acknowledge her wife's presence. She knew it was Sayaka without even looking up since her wife was the only soul allowed to enter her office without knocking. Anyone else that did would be fired.
"Hello, honey." She greeted lightly, blue fingers typing away until Sayaka reached her side, walking behind the large dark wooden desk. That's when she looked up.
"Hey.." Sayaka cooed, a bit anxiously.
Kirari glanced at her demeanor and finally noticed the envelope in her wife's hands.. Huh? Interesting.
"How'd the appointment go?" She asked first.
"Good, everything's alright and normal." Sayaka reassured her. She knew Kirari actually worried about her and the baby a lot more than she let on.
Kirari felt relieved at those words.
"Splendid.." She hummed, "What's that now?"
This time, she actually motioned to the envelope.
Sayaka's excitedly anxious expression grew.
"The gender of the baby's written inside.."
Kirari's eyes widended a little.
The neutral expression on her face was then replaced with a happy smile. She moved her laptop away-- giving Sayaka her full attention.
She scooted her plush wheely chair back a bit, motioning for Sayaka to come and sit on her lap.
Sayaka arched a brow, giving her a questioning look, "Rari, I'm not that light anymore.." She said, not wanting to crush her wife by sitting on her lap like she normally did all the time when she wasn't pregnant.
"Sayaka, that's absurd? Sit down." Kirari asserted, "I'd like to find out our little fish's gender now that we can, wouldn't you?"
She couldn't argue with that.
Sayaka finally moved to sit on Kirari's thigh and felt butterflies as the other woman wrapped her arms around her-- Sayaka laid an arm over her wife's shoulder as she sat taller than Kirari for once.
"I wanted us to find out together.." She confessed, nervously fidgetting with the evenelope.
Kirari smiled a cute smile, nuzzling into Sayaka's side, "Then together we shall, my dear.."
And they did.
Sayaka didn't bother asking for any last guesses. Kirari would turn that into a gamble and honestly? She was too eager to know the results to stop and ask.
Shaky, clammy hands undid the envelope. Inside was their twenty-two week sonagram photo and on the back written in black ink sloppy cursive was one word;
Girl.
A daughter.
They were having a little girl.
Sayaka's heart flew in that second. She would've been just as happy with a son but for some reason, she'd always been drawn to the idea of having a daughter. She'd have someone let her do her hair. Someone to dress up in cute outfits Kirari would grow to hate.
Someone to love like a mother did a daughter.
She hadn't realized she was tearing up with happy tears until she felt Kirari reach up to wipe her tears.
The former-president found herself feeling the same as Sayaka but she didn't let herself cry. She was happy it was a girl. A boy would've been just fine too but a daughter? She'd give her the mother she never had.
She'd be the mother she wished she had growing up.
The couple met in a sweet kiss and then Kirari directed her attention to the baby bump itself-- speaking to their unborn daughter as if she could understand her.
"I can't wait to meet you, baby girl.."

Now that the gender of their baby was confirmed, it was time for the part of the journey that most new parent's found to be most fun and enjoyable;
Baby shopping.
Of course, Sayaka and Kirari weren't the usual type of new parent's. Sure, they were having a little girl but that didn't mean they were buying everything pink and girly. They'd actually agreed to by all sorts of colors because color didn't have a gender. Pink wasn't just for girls and Sayaka and Kirari would raise their daughter that way.
Their daughter would wear whatever her heart desired as long as it was appropriate and comfortable.
It was durning the week, after work and the store the couple was in wasn't busy whatsoever-- thankfully.
Most of the aisles were empty and people that were walking around didn't bother sprearing them a glance. It was moments like this when Sayaka apprieacted Kirari for cutting ties with the clan. Had she kept in contact? She'd pratically be feared nation wide and little trips to the store like this one would be impossible.
That aside, Sayaka was currently suffering..
Kirari was being ridiculous in the baby aisle!
Sayaka thanked whoever was above that allowed no one to stumbled upon them in that moment. She was a bit irrated and sweaty-- watching her wife be the most unhelpful she'd ever been throughout the process.
Granted, it was somewhat funny but still!
Whenever Sayaka would pick out something cute-- say, a cute blue onesie with fish on it?-- Kirari would pick out something ridiculous and or borderline inappropriately funny in response-- for example, a white shirt that said "𝘋𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘺'𝘴 𝘍𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳" in black with a little cartoon sperm under it.
Their cart had a few items in it, baby clothes and toys and small little things. Most of the big shopping had been done online since it was most convenient.
"Kirari, be serious.." Sayaka groaned, trying to decide between two cute outfits for a few week old.
Kirari smirked, picking up a onesie from a few feet away-- Sayaka's annoyance was getting more and more funny by the second. She knew what buttons to push.
"I am being serious, dear." She insisted, "Our little girl would look dashing in this one, wouldn't she?"
Sayaka should've known better to actually look up but she did-- giving Kirari the benefit of the doubt and a pissed off expression immediately took over her face.
Kirari was holding a pink onesie that said in black cursive stitching, even with red little hearts surrounding it "𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘐𝘯 𝘝𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘢" and worst off all? Sayaka was actually convinced Kirari was being serious about it.
"That's a repulsive and logically incorrect statement.."
Kirari couldn't help but smirk.
Sayaka always spoke so formal-- even when she downright hated something. It was humorous.
"Oh? Do care to explain--"
The pregnant woman wasted no time taking the onesie from her wife and setting it down without question as she she cut her off-- already planning on debunking the horrid play-on words whether or not Kirari asked.
"Baby's are formed in the uterus." Sayaka said, poking Kirari in the middle of her flat belly-- to which, Kirari bit back a grin-- "Not.... Down there.."
"In the vagina?" Kirari teased.
Sayaka rolled her eyes for what felt like the millionth time.
"Correct."
The wheels to the cart they'd selected were sqeaky and almost annoying but Sayaka didn't pay attention to it as they walked down a new aisle that was full of different clothes. Hopefully none with borderline inappropriate statements.
"And we live in Japan, not China.. So it'd be a double impulsive and idiotic message to dress out daughter in."
Kirari could only offer a hum in response while she finally decided to start being helpful in the selection of their daughter's wardrobe. She wished babies came out with functional brains. It'd be so much easier if their daughter could just come out and pick what she liked right off the bat but that's not how it worked.
So, she'd try and at least pick out some cute things.
Glancing over her shoulder, she couldn't help but smile a small smile-- her blue eyes softening just a little as she watched Sayaka hold up a small blue dress for a few month old. It would be perfect to go on picnics in.
Of course, she was Kirari Momobami and that meant she'd never make things easy. So, she turnt to a different shelf nearby and selected another little shirt she saw fit for their little fish.
It was black and in red bold, cartoony letters it said;
'𝘐'𝘮 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘈𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘴!
(𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘺)'
Kirari proudly held up the selected shirt with a confident look in her eye and a small smirk on her face.
Sayaka glanced up and stared at the shirt for a good few seconds. Luckily, the store was still pratically empty and no one was witnessing the dysfunction.
There was a small pause.
Kirari felt like a little kid silently begging for candy.
"Well.." Sayaka finally said with a sigh, "At least this one isn't totally incorrect.. Perhaps, I suppose."
Kirari began to work up a small pout.
The shorter woman groaned.
"Fine, you can get that one.."
In victory, Kirari tossed the onesie in the cart and for the rest of the short-lasted trip, she was fairly helpful with picking out actual clothes and items for their daughter. It was moments like this that made Sayaka realize that Kirari would likely be a very chaotic parent but in the end? Her intentions would always be good.
And although ridiculous at times, there was no one else in the world Sayaka would rather do this journey with.

(31 𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵)
They had the nursery set up completely by now.
Their daughter had a whole walk-in closet of clothing and enough to last her until she turnt one.
She had toys glore and so many books.
In her nursery, there was even a wooden rocking chair by the window that one of her mothers could sit in and read to her in when the time came.
The spare bedroom that had been turnt into the nursery was painted in light purple and light baby blue and white to contrast with it all. It was adorable.
She wasn't even born yet and she had everthing she could ever want or need in the world as a baby.
Everthing?
Expect a name.
Every since finding out the gender, Sayaka and Kirari had been brainstorming here and there but nothing had really stuck with them or stood out very much.
It was late in the evening after a long day of work.
Sayaka was laying on the large couch in the living room whilst Kirari cuddled into her and played whatever video game was on the large flat screen TV across the room.
Yes, as shocking as it was, the former president of Hyakkaou Private Academy liked to play video games.
Well, some video games, at least.
Mainly Minecraft.
Minecraft for one reason and one reason only; Kirari enjoyed building aquariums in the game.
It was odd but strangely entertaining to witness.
All was calm and quiet. Sayaka's face was burried behind a book titled '105 Baby Name Ideas' and she was on page 99 and yet? Hadn't had any inspiration.
The book was filled with cliche, overrated and overheard baby names. Nothing called out to her.
Sayaka sighed, holding the book with one hand while the other gently stroked her wife's hair that was let down from her usual braids for once.
Kirari held her blue controller in her hands-- thumbs working their magic to recreate an aquarium design in her buidling game she'd had in her mind for awhile now. Her head was resting against Sayaka's large baby bump.
At first, she'd been hesitant to lay her head on the bump like a pillow but after a fee Google searches, they'd discovered it was perfectly safe within reason.
That's when it happened.
Their daughter kicked for the first time.
In the entire pregnancy, Sayaka hadn't felt much movement. Nothing really notable anyways.
It wasn't completely unheard of that babies weren't that physically active in the womb until later on but it was still odd to really think about but nonetheless..
Their baby was moving now.
Kirari felt the kick against the side of her head and heard Sayaka whimper under her breath as it happened.
Instantly, Kirari tossed her controller down-- her game pausing after a few seconds-- and looked back at her wife with a look of slight concern.
"Are you okay, my love?"
Sayaka whimpered but it wasn't completely out of pain, most of it was out of shock. She'd hadn't been expecting that at all and the motion took her breath away.
But after a second or two had passed, she was fine.
"Y-yeah, yes.." Sayaka reassured her gently, "I'm alright, she's just kicking for the first time.."
Kirari watched her lover closely and after the verbal confirmation she was alright, she eased a little.
Yet didn't return her attention back to her game.
Instead, a dainty hand found it's way to Sayaka's baby bump right where their daughter had kicked.
"Fascinating.." Kirari cooed.
It was no surpsie Kirari was intrigued by the ordeal.
"Mhm.." Sayaka mused, whimpering a little as it happened again. This time, their baby kicked a little harder and Kirari felt it right against her palm.
Blue eyes flickered up to see an expression of light discomfort on Sayaka's face and it caused her to frown.
"Shh, it's alright, my dear."
Sayaka knew it wasn't the end of the world, but Kirari's comfort was still appreiacted. She figured the only reason it was so uncomfortable was because she was so far along, leaving her body extra sensitive and the fact that the kicks were happening fairly close to her ribs each time.
"It.. It's an odd sensation.."
"I could imagine." Kirari smiled lightly, moving back to her previous laying postion. Their daughter seemed to fall back asleep, thankfully, "At least we know she's active and healthy."
"Of course, that's all that matters." Sayaka agreed.
Before Kirari laid all the way back down, she planted a small kiss to her wife's bump-- as if kissing their daughter goodnight. It was a sweet, soft gesture thay warmed the former-secretary's heart to witness.
Sayaka went to pick her book back up, noticing Kirari hadn't resumed her game and instead, spoke again;
"We should name her Yuri."
Those words caught her off gaurd.
But, she listened and waited for Kirari to elaborate.
"Yuri." Kirari said again thoughtfully, almost blissfully.
"It's Japenese for Lily.. And, the name honestly reminds me of the night of the tower of doors.."
Oh..
That night.
That unforntete yet wonderful yet dangerous night.
The night they practically confessed their love and devotion to one another in their own little ways.
Kirari picked up om Sayaka's silence.
"We will speak Japenese with her, won't we?"
"Certainly." Sayaka said quickly, snapping out of her distant reminiscences of good memories, "It's one of my many hopes that she'll be well-versed in both English and Japanese." She confessed.
Both Kirari and Sayaka were fully fluent in English and Japanese and often switched between languages on and off depending on where they were in Japan.
Sayaka had no doubt in her mind that they'd teach their daughter to speak and love both languages.
Now, back to Kirari's name suggestion?
"Yuri is a perfect name, Rari.."
Kirari smiled at the approval and leaned up one more time to capture Sayaka's lips in a gentle kiss.
Their daughters name was decided..
Yuri Momobami.

Bending over was fucking impossible.
Usually, Kirari did it for her when she needed to bend down and get something but when they were in separate rooms, doing seperate things? It was a little hard to call her wife over from across the hall.
Sayaka felt like a whale.
A cow.
Anything large.
Actaully, no--
Huge.
She felt utterly huge.
Her belly wasn't the biggest bump in the world and the doctors had confirmed that Yuri was going to be a pretty small baby overall but that didn't take away from the fact that Sayaka-- whom was usually very petite-- felt like a overweight blob of air and atoms.
But, aside from that, her worries were slim.
Sayaka had just finished packing her hosptial bag. It was still a little early-- her due date wasn't for another few weeks but she'd always preferred to be early. Each woman's pregnancy was different some womne went into labor early. She hope that wouldn't be the case but regaurdless, if it happened, they were now ready.
Wiping her brow of sweat and catching her breath, Sayaka released a breath and tried to relax a little. Moving around was hard. Everthing felt sore and she was nearing the point of irritation very easily these days. In short; she was over being pregnant and wanted Yuri in her arms instead of in her belly.
Luckily, she hadn't experienced any crazy mood swings but Kirari had been a trooper throughout everthing.
Speaking of Kirari...
Sayaka set the hospital bag down somewhere easy to reach in their bedroom and made her way down the hall. Kirari was likely in her study. It was technically an office but calling it a study made it feel more professional-- said in Kirari's own confident words.
The door was usually shut all the way but this time? It was left ajar and Sayaka was able to hear something..
As she walked passed the study, she heard what sounded like.. A muffled moan?
Pausing in her tacks in the middle of the hallway-- Sayaka pulled an expression of rightful confusion.
Kirari had been in her study every since she'd got home from work.. Sayaka could only assume she wanted a little alone time? But for what reason?
Could it be porn?
As lewd as it was, it was a possibility.
Sayaka hadn't been hypersexual like some women were when pregnant. Sure, they'd had sex a good few times in the past few months but Sayaka knew it wasn't how it normally was and maybe? Kirari missed that..
But still, watching porn in her study?
It wasn't like her at all..
Curiosity got the best of her.
Sayaka usually knocked before entering but it seemed to slip her mind this time around-- she pushed the study door opened and entered the room, set on catching her wife in the act red-handed. It'd be good teasing material to possibly get back at her?
No.
Kirari's study was decently sized and was just a large oak wood desk, with a black leather rolly chair where she did her work. Next to said desk was a huge aquarium where she kept her personal prized possession content in; Nemo the reef shark.
Yes.. Yes, her wife had a pet shark.
Aside from there, the room was filled with large wooden shells stacked full of books varying in different topics. Granted, Sayaka spent more time in that section than Kirari herself but it still looked nice.
It gave Kirari something to organize when needed.
But Sayaka didn't pay any attention to that.
Instead, her gaze was stuck on her wife.
Kirari was at her desk, laptop on bright and all the other lights dimmed-- causing the screen to light up her face. She was wrapped in a blue blanket and her hair was a bit messy. There were visible bags under her wife's eyes from either lack or sleep or too much screen time. At this rate? It was likely a combination of both.
And come to find out?
The moaning sound? It was more pain-filled than anything close to pleasure-filled at all.
Surely, it wasn't porn.
If it was, Kirari would be in a much different state.
No one watched porn like it was some interesting documentary-- not even Kirari Momobami.
So, what was it?
"Kirari, what are you doing?"
Sayaka, intrigued as ever, flipped on the main light to the room and watched Kirari's blue eyes blink rapidly in protest to the sudden light change in the room.
"Ah, hello dear..?" Kirari hummed.
She looked exhausted.
Sayaka suddenly felt a small pang of guilt form in her chest. Kirari had been working a lot lately. She was working overtime just to prepare to take weeks off in advance once Yuri was born but that was a lot of work and Sayaka had just gone on maternity leave so that meant Kirari was pratically working overtime these days.
It was for a good cause in the end, but still..
"Oh, darling, you look awful."
Kirari offered a ghost of a blue smile.
Her lipstick was smudged and her makeup was a little messy but none of those details mattered when the sound coming from Kirari's laptop turnt to screams.
Okay. What the hell was she watching?
"Why don't you come to bed? We'll order food and--"
Sayaka made her way around the desk as Kirari suddenly surged to life and blue-colored nails darted around the keyboard to attempt to prevent Sayaka was seeing her screen and to close her tab but it was too late..
On Kirari's laptop screen?
There was a hospital setting and it featured a sweaty woman-- clearly in distress, in the process of having a baby. There was a pale looking man to the woman's side-- likely the father-to-be-- and the backs of nurses and doctors in blue scrubs was seen.
Kirari was watching.. Birth videos?
"Honey, what the hell are you watching?"
Based on Sayaka's tone-- she wasn't completely shocked but it was a huge night and day difference to what she originally thought her wife had been watching.
Kirari shook her head-- tired eyes scanning the bright screen methodically. In this lighting, her eyebags didn't look too bad but there were still there. Why was she half-asleep binge watching childbirth on YouTube?
"For educational purposes.. It says right here."
A blue nail found it's way to the screen, pointing at the obvious words in the titles of the video.
'Natural Childbirth (For Educational Purposes Only)'
'Why'd they have to specify?' Sayaka thought
What other purposes were these videos used for!?
"Okay..?" Sayaka said in thought, studying the screen.
God, that looked so painful..
And Kirari looked distressed. It was almost funny. Not because Kirari was distressed but because this has been done out of complete free-will. It was so random.
The older woman curled into the blue blanket wrapped around her shoulders, clearly regretting her decision to watch the videos she'd been watching and studying.
"I just wanted to be prepared for what's going to happen." Kirari confessed, closing her tired eyes and leaning against Sayaka's side as Sayaka went to stand besides her chair now. "Perhaps what to expect..?"
Sayaka supposed that made sense.
Let's not forget Kirari literally wanted to see the back of someone's eyeball-- childbirth videos weren't that odd.
Her intentions were somewhat sweet..
Sayaka gently creased her wife's soft head, humming and nodding, looking at the screen.
The baby seemed to be crowning-- almost. Regaurdless, the mother in labor looked miserable.
That.. Was going to be her in a few weeks?
Fuck.
This was when the fear began to set in.
It was only logical to fear such a painful process right? Then again, surely, she'd be fine? It was natural..
"It'll be alright, my love." Sayaka reassured her lightly, giving her shoulder a small squeeze for good measure.
Kirari opened one of her eyes, sleepily.
"I'm.." She paused to yawn a small yawn, "Supposed to be the one reassuring you, darling.."
Sayaka let herself let out a light laugh.
"Theoretically, yes."
Kirari finally stood up, the blanket falling from her shoulders and to the floor but she could hardly care. She was too tired to pick it up and as stated earlier, there was no way Sayaka was bending down to get it.
"Now, what was it you said about ordering food?"
"You're seriously hungry after watching all those videos?" Sayaka cringed a little, unsure of it.
Kirari shrugged.
"Yes, and I'm in the mood for carbs."
"I'm the one that's supposed to be eating carbs.."
"Theortetically, yes."
Of course Kirari had managed to throw her own words back at her in a matter of a few seconds.
Sayaka rolled her eyes, taking her wife's hand as they walked down the hall back to the security of their bedroom where they'd spend the rest of the night snuggled up, eating takeout and watching movies.
Kirari's favorite movie was playing; Finding Nemo.

(The Infamous Due Date)
(The rest of the story will take place on the same day)
"You know, if Kirari found out I let you stay here instead of sending you home? My ass would become food for her fucking piranhas or something."
Ah, Midari-- always a woman with a colorful vocabulary. Some things just never changed.
Today was the day.
Yuri's due date.
Well, technically it was yesterday but whatever.
Sayaka was full term and labor could occur at anytime. She and Kirari had had their last ultrasound a few days ago and were put in the clear and warned to watch out for early signs of labor or possible flase contractions.
It was now just a nerve-wracking waiting game.
Currently, Sayaka was sitting at the bar in the Momobami Casino, looking over some paperwork regarding their shipments for the next few week's.
She certaintly wasn't drinking, merely just sitting at the bar, keeping Midari company as she worked.
Though, Midari had been kind enough to supply her with an apple juice box.
The one-eyed woman worked as perfect security for the casino and main gambling floors. She was also their best bar tender since all the regulars knew better than to try and steal their booze-- she was armed with a gun at all times and had made it clear she'd shoot if need be. She'd never had to shoot anyone yet, thankfully.
And Kirari?
Currently, the woman was out on a business trip with Ririka handling some business matters. Sayaka was on maternity leave and Ririka was going with Kirari on Sayaka's behalf since the presence of two people was needed for some odd specific reason.
As long as they made it back as soon as possible and as long as Sayaka stayed home, off of her feet Kirari wouldn't have a single worry on her mind.
By now, the Momobami twins were easily hours away as they'd left early that morning and wouldn't be home until late in the night-- if things went according to plan.
"What Kirari doesn't know won't hurt her, and as I've said, I'll leave soon, there's no reason to worry" Sayaka shrugged at the bartenders crude language.
"Ugh!" Midari groaned, "You said like an hour ago.."
Sayaka paid no attention to Midari's complaint. She continued to flip through the paperwork methodically.
She was definitely a workaholic, what could she say?
"Shouldn't you be at home making a fucking nest or something? Kirari said the brat was good to pop out any day now.." Midari mumbled, glancing over at the working pregnant woman, arching a brow.
Midari was behind the bar, leaning on it with her hand in the palms of her hands with a bored expression.
Sayaka rolled her eyes, finally getting to the second to last page of the paperwork. Usually, she sped through paperwork like it was nothing but there'd been this pain in her stomach every while that distracted her. It should've been a red flag but she was too consumed in finishing that she rarely stopped because of it. It had been getting a little worse.. But it was bearable.
Surely, it couldn't be early signs of labor?
Could it?
"Her name is Yuri." Sayaka gently corrected, "And although some refer to this stage as 'the nesting stage' I highly doubt anyone's around actually making nests.."
She wasn't laying a fucking egg, after all.
Midari always had an interesting way of words..
"Whatever." Midari shrugged, "Say, when the little shit gets crapped out, you think I'd be allowed to babysit?"
"No."
"You didn't even pause to think about it."
"There's no need to."
"Well, sure there is---"
"The only time you'll be allowed near any of my children unsupervised is when they're legally old enough to consent to a restraining order, if needed."
"You know, when I said I wanted to use the kid as target practice I was only joking.."
Sayaka didn't have time to reply, she was suddenly overtook by a painful, cramp-like sensation in her stomach. It wasn't agony but it was certaintly uncomfortable at this point. It was then that she began to actually question if it was early labor..
She didn't bring attention to it just yet but kept the thought in the back of her head.
Luckily-- well, luckily for her, unluckily for business-- a dispute between two gamblers broke out across the floor and it got heated pretty quickly. It was a common occurance. Violence and anger was often a reaction to loosing money so it made sense. It also made Midari's job a whole lot more interesting-- in her words.
"M-madari.." Sayaka mumbled weakly.
Midari seemed to take notice to Sayaka's discomfort, getting up and glancing her up and down questionably.
"Yo, you feeling alright, Saya?"
Sayaka shook her head, dismissing her pain.
"It's nothing, Yuri's just kicking." She waved off, "Go take care of those gentlemen before they break something." It wasn't entirely a lie. Yuri was kicking but it was more concerning-- her kicks were much lower. She had to have dropped a good amount.
Midari seemed unconvinced by her words but hey, Sayaka was her boss so her word was gold. She looked over to the heated argument breaking out and grabbed a small bat from behind the counter, walking out with her gun in it's holster on her hip with a sadistic smirk on her face as she approuched the scene.
Finally, with Midari gone? Sayaka was able to let out a small groan of pain. She'd been supressing it but it was really starting to hurt now. The pain had spread throughout her belly to her lower back now.
This had to be labor..
It was the only thing that made sense.
"Okay. Okay.." Sayaka sighed to herself quietly, bringing a hand down to crease her bump, soothing her daughter's light kicks, "I understand what you're trying to tell me, now, my darling.."
The pain had been going on most of the morning. Yuri had been hinting she was ready to come out all day but only now Sayaka was finally realizing it. Better late than never, she supposed.
Pushing the paperwork to the side, Sayaka maneuvered herself on her stool to try and grab her phone from her pocket but it proved to be a challenge.
"We should call your mama, huh?"
Obviously, Sayaka knew Yuri wouldn't actually answer her but the plan was to, in fact, call Kirari. Techicnally, she wanted to avoid doing so out of fear of possibly causing Kirari to rightfully panic. This was a bad sitation to be in. She was in early labor while her wife was hours away? But, at the same time, Kirari had lectured her for at least half an hour to call her if anything happened and that meant anything.
Kirari was even persistent that Sayaka call her if she needed assistance bending over for something. She simply assured her wife she'd call a butler over immediately.. Just to bend over and pick something up for her? Literally! Who did that? She was so extra..
She cared so much.
Her wife deserved to know what was going on.
But? Her plans to call Kirari faltered when she pulled her phone out of her pocket-- only to realize it was on a mere five percent. It didn't matter regaurdless, she ended up getting a contraction that took her breath away and caused her to drop her phone.
"S-shit!" Sayaka swore, letting out a deep shaky breath.
This hurt like hell already and she could already feel herself begining to sweat-- it was a gross feeling.
Across the gambling floor, Midari could be heard breaking up the dispute between the two older men with a rather agressive threat to shove her bat so far up their asses they'd get splinters in their throats.
They got the message that she was serious very quickly..
After not breaking anything, surprisingly, Midari made her way back to Sayaka who had clearly seen better days. She was very clearly in pain and was not okay.
"Sayaka, seriously, let's get you home.."
Despite her usual chaotic way of showing it, Midari did care for the Momobami couple-- they'd given her the security/bar tending job without hesitation and let her crash over at their place when needed. She and Sayaka had an interesting friendship but Midari would still protect her and take care of her for Kirari while she was gone.
Sayaka had a shaky death grip on the counter, her teeth gritted just slightly as the contraction peaked.
"M-midari.." She tried to explain but couldn't find the words. "I.. I'm.. In.."
She was in labor.
But things had just gotten much worse.
"--A shit ton of trouble, ha! You broke your phone, dude.." Midari finished her sentence for her, bending down to pick up the broken phone for her to then help her get down from the stool and get home but as she was coming back up from bending down, she heard it;
A slight trickling sound.
Liquid of some kind..
The gray sweatpants Sayaka were wearing now had a huge wet strain coming fron between her legs and down her legs.
Midari arched a broke and smirked, standing up.
"Did you just piss yourself?"
"No, don't be ridiculous!" Sayaka snapped, clearly embrassed by what had just happened, "I.. I think my water just broke.."
It took Midari a few seconds to process that..
When she did? She ended up dropping Sayaka's phone again, double breaking it. There was no saving it now.
"Oh shit!" The bartender practically shouted.
---
"Well, that was pleasantly boring as ever.."
Kirari sighed, relaxing into the plush cushion of the limo's leather seats. She and Ririka had just finished up with the long business meeting and were on their way to an economic convention of some kind.
One that she didn't wanna attend, truthfully.
Ririka had similar opinions but was glad it was her attending instead of Sayaka-- she couldn't imagine sitting still for as long as they had to while being pregnant.
"This convention will be even more boring, I'm afraid."
Kirari rolled her eyes at Ririka's words-- adjusting her collar and tie to be just a little looser than before to make it bearable for the ride across town, at least.
Both twins were wearing matching classic black and white suits with black ties. They could've easily worn dresses or something a little more feminine like pantsuits but there was just something about the way most business men scowled at women in power and suits made crushing them a little more satisfying.
Plus, they looked hot.
"I run the most successful casino in all of Japan, if not the world, the chance of a bunch of hell-bound greedy mongrels impressing me is below---"
"Mrs. Momobami, we've just got word on your wife.."
The sound of their driver's voice caught both of the twins off gaurd. The driver spoke much to them, aside from greetings, farewells and asking for their destination. This was a rare and odd occurrence..
There was a divider between the front and back seats that allowed the twins full privacy but the driver could communicate by pressing a button on the steering wheel-- his voice would play through the radio speakers. Although neither Kirari or Ririka could see him, they could both hear the unease in his voice.
Kirari immediately shifted gears and pressed the button to take down the divider between the seats.
Now they could both see the nervous, almost somber expression on the driver's face. It was.. Unsettling.
The twins exchanged a shared look of confusion and worry before Kirari spoke up first;
"Out with it then." She demanded, "Did something happen to my wife? Explain immediately."
Ririka knew her sister was rarely one to worry but leaving Sayaka alone when she was this far into her pregnancy had affected Kirari a lot more than she let on.
And now hearing this?
She reached out to her younger sister's frame to possibly try and rub her back or shoulder but Kirari lightly pulled away. Kirari didn't want sympathy, she wanted answers.
"Your wife is in labor and has been taken to the nearest hospital in your hometown, Mrs. Momobami."
Kirari face went indescribably blank.
Ririka's eyes widened.
They were hours away. Labor was different for every woman but there was still a huge possibility of Kirari completely missing the birth of her daughter now that they were so many hours away..
Kirari's initial worry and fear was increased ten-full, but was soon replaced with determination and anger.
"Cancel whatever events we were to attend today."
"But Madame--"
"Cancel it all." Kirari said venomously. "I don't care if you have to run others off the road, you're to get us to the hospital my wife's at as fast as possible or so help me God--"
"Kirari." Ririka cut in, "He understands.."
The driver punched in a new destination with a greatful expression. Ririka had just saved him a true ass-whooping of a threat but knew Kirari was serious.
The limo began to speed much faster than they had initially been going as Kirari was left to wonder why Sayaka hadn't called her herself? She began to worry for her wife.. For her daughter.. She began to worry.
Ririka picked up on the worry instantly. Kirari was visibly distressed now, unsurprisingly. If Ririka was in her shoes and Mary was back at home about to have their first baby? She'd easily be in shambles.
The fact that Kirari was completely falling apart was impressive but then again? It was Kirari Momobami.
Kirari Momobami never fell apart.
"It'll be alright, Rari, we'll make it back in time.."
Would they?
No one knew the answer to that..
And the anticipation and realization that she was going to not only have a daughter soon but also might miss the birth of her daighter was beginning to get to Kirari.
"Things are far from alright, Ririka." Kirari insisited, looking out the tinted window to try and distract herself but that was as impossible as it sounded, "My wife is in labor, all alone.. I should've never left her side."
Before Ririka could respond, the driver cut in again. He was able to speak freely since the divider was down.
"Actually, we've got word your wife isn't alone.."
Kirari immediately tore her eyes away from the window and shot blue daggers towards the man.
Sensing the silent threat to explain his words or risk a faith worse than unemployment, he continued;
"Your wife was said to have been accompanied to the hospital with Midari Ikishima.."
Many questions began to spin rapidly in both the twin's heads once they'd received this news.. But a large amount of fear resided between them. Midari was reckless. Midari was.. A lot of things.
Kirari almost wanted to jump out and run the rest of the way home --convinced she'd be faster with all the slow traffic in the busy Japan area.. But that wouldn't be realistic.
Before Ririka could offer any reassurance, her sister spoke a threat so cold and chilling the driver would likely end up breaking laws before they got home.
"You have less than three hours to get us home or I'll feed you to my pet shark, he's been fasting lately and likely won't be picky once you're properly prepared.."
"W-what my sister means is.." Ririka finally spoke up after grasping the situation at hand, "Please, try and hurry sir.."
"C-certainly, Madame.."
And with that? The limo picked up speed yet again but traffic and most odds were against them. Ririka took it upon herself to make a few personal calls too..
They had to make it home..
---
"Midari! Slow down!"
The beat up 1994 Subaru Justy's tires creaked obnoxiously loud as they sped over yet another speedbump.
Was it a surprise Midari was a reckless driver? No.
But regardless, it was still unsafe to be going this fast and to say Sayaka was stressed out was an understatement. Here she was, in labor being drove to the hospital by Midari Ikishima in a car that was close to collapsing and better yet? Her wife was hours away.
This was.. Far from ideal.
Meanwhile, Midari paid no mind to the pregnant woman's plead and practically slammed on her breaks to prevent them from rear-ending another car at an intersection. Traffic was awful today..
And Sayaka's contractions were getting worse..
"C'mon you fuckers! Learn to drive!" Midari yelled out the cracked driver-side window, honking her horn. "There's a woman in labor here for shit's sake!"
That did little to nothing. They were still sitting in traffic.
"M-midari.." Sayaka panted, one hand resting on her stomach and the other gripping the handle above. "Yelling.. Won't change anything.. Reframe from it, please."
Sensing that her friend in the passenger seat was probably overstimulated as it was, Midari finally seized and let out an irrated sigh, looking over at Sayaka.
"Fine but don't you dare the little brat in the car.. I don't wanna have to push it back in or something.."
There was a few things wrong with that sentence...
"I-- ah.." Sayaka's words were cut off by a painful contraction and it caused her to whimper, brow furrowing.
Unsure what to do, Midari awkwardly reached and rubbed Sayaka's shoulder, watching her take shaky deep breaths as her contraction peaked to its worst.
It was a little comforting even, until Midari got a little distracted and her hand fell from Sayaka's shoulder to one of her breasts without even realizing it.
"Midari..!" Sayaka hissed, lightly swatting her away.
"Huh? Oh!" Midari realized where her hand had just been and chuckled, her attention turning back to the road as traffic finally began to move, "Sorry tuts.."
The driving was completely erratic and unstable. It felt as if Sayaka was carpooling with a twelve-year old driver..
"H-how the fuck--! Oh fuck!" Sayaka cried out a little, now breaking a sweat from the pain she was feeling.
"Deep breaths.." Midari mutteted.
"I am breathing!" Sayaka bit back a little harsher than intended, "H-how did you ever receive your licence!? I hope you know this is an awful display of your driving abilities.."
To that comment, Midari snorted and laughed.
"Bitch, I have one eye! I'm not legally supposed to drive any vehicle.." She pointed out through giggles, "This isn't even my car, you know?"
"E-excuse me!?"
"Ah, hang on-- we're here!"
The old red car practically shuttled into a parking space, surprisingly without hitting anyone else and before Sayaka knew it-- she was being wheeled inside in a wheelchair.
---
Mary had been laying in bed, simply watching some stupid reality show on TLC when Ririka called.
It was an odd and random request that Mary hadn't been expecting but she did it.
Ririka had called and very briefly explained that Sayaka was in labor and their hosptial bag was still at home and needed to be received since she and Kirari were going straight to the hosptial. Oh, also, Midari was the only one aside Sayaka and both twins had many fears..
Clearly, some blanks needed to be filled..
But, nonetheless, Mary had got up and grabbed her keys-- leaving the door in one of Ririka's hoodies and some sweatpants-- and had gone over to the Momobami house, received the hospital bag and was now, around an hour later, standing in an elevator.
The lady at the front desk clearly hated her job but had been kind enough to point her in the right direction.
Sayaka was already in labor and delivery huh?
"Figures Kirari's late to her own kid's birth.." Mary muttered to herself, swinging the duffle bag full of stuff Sayaka had pre-packed on her shoulder.
Sayaka was in room 01.
Mary-- along with most-- hadn't really paid attention in health class. She had no idea what to expect when she opened the door but she tried to prepare for anything.
It didn't really help.
"Hey Sayaka, Ririka called and said you---"
"Stupid! Stupid idiot! You could've killed me and my child before my wife-- ah..! F-fuck.. You!"
Midari was currently at Sayaka's bedside, being assulated with one of the hosptial pillows-- whilst Sayaka, in her laboring state dressed in a pale green hosptial gown, cussed her out for being so reckless. She'd stolen a car and drove horribly. Sure, no one died but they could've-- Sayaka was rightfully upset.
"What the fuck did I walk into..?" Mary whispered to herself as she walked in and shut the door.
---
By the time the twins arrived to the hosptial, it was close to dark out. Sayaka had been admitted hours ago and the chances of Kirari having missed her daughter's birth were unforntetly getting higher as the minutes passed.
Kirari had shrugged off her back suit jacket and tie, leaving her only in a pair of black slacks and a white button up that was unbuttoned and the sleeves were rolled up. She'd figetted in the car out of nervousness.
She was nervous..
Her daughter was on her way.
Or? She'd already been born-- they were about to find out as they approuched the front desk.
Ririka was ready for any outcome. She knew hee sister would be devastated if Yuri had already came. She was ready to support Kirari no matter the news.
The twins made their way to the desk-- practically sprinting over at full speed to do so.
"Momobami.." Ririka said instantly, "Sayaka.."
"Hm?" The woman said, eyes not looking away from her computer as she typed something lazily.
"Sayaka Momobami, she was admitted earlier and was said to be in labor? Please, it's an emergency--"
"I can't let you in. There's already two people in there and three's a crowd."
This was when Kirari spoke.
"Pardon?" She asked lowly-- feeling Ririka grip her shoulder to keep her from jumping over the desk, "My wife is in labor, I refuse to stand here any longer! Tell me where she is instantly or I'll have everyone on this floor sued to hell and back!"
The woman finally glanced over-- her expression changing to one of horror as she realized she was looking at the real Momobami Twins. Oh.. Sayaka.. That Sayaka Momobami? It truly was a small world..
"Labor and delivery, room 01, my apologies madame.."
Neither twin bothered to say anything else. If Yuri had been born, they would've been informed. That meant Sayaka was still in labor. There was still time!
They'd made it!
Kirari felt like throwing up for more reasons than one but they made it to the elevator just before it closed.
She.. Was going to meet her daughter soon.
---
"She already said she didn't want ice chips you one-eyed moron!"
"Why not? She can't eat anything else!?"
"S.. Stop yelling.. Please!"
Never in her life did Sayaka think she'd be in labor with her first child, accompanied by the likes of Midari Ikishima and Mary Satome.. But here she was.
Life was strange sometimes.
Kirari was said to be on her way but her arrival couldn't come sooner. Between Mary and Midari yelling at each other and Sayaka nearly breaking Mary's hand, Sayaka was ready to have her baby and Yuri clearly had no plans of waiting much longer.
The last time she'd been checked, she was around eight centimeters dilated. That was more than halfway there. To say she was in pain? It didn't even cover how she truly felt. It was agony.
And it was gonna get worse?
Sayaka hadn't been screaming in pain like some would've but she certaintly had made her pain known. She had a death white-knuckle grip on Mary's hand and would occasionally switch from whimpering or cussing out Midari for the same affect.
She suddenly felt Midari patting at her sweaty forehead with a small rag and she likely had sweet intentions but Sayaka was more irritated than anything else.
"Don't be so rough, damn!" Mary scolded the other woman as Sayaka pulled away from the rag.
"I'm just trying to help, I hope Sayaka breaks your fingers you blonde bimbo bitch!"
"Oh yeah? I bet your sadistic ass is jealous!--- hey! Sayaka.. Ease up, would ya?" Mary began to smart off but her words were taken right out of her mouth when Sayaka gripped her hand so hard she faintly heard something crunch.
To which, Midari cackled and Sayaka instantly let go-- in fear that she actually had broken Mary's hand..
"S-sorry.. I'm sorry..." Sayaka mumbled in a breathless tone.
The blonde took a deep breath and decided to examine herself later-- for now she just focused on keeping Sayaka as relaxed as possible and fought the urge to strangle Midari. No wonder Yumeko had got a restraining order against her years ago..
Before anyone could say anything else, the door was opened and all three women expected to see a few doctors or another nurse but no..
There, in the doorway, stood the Momobami twins.
They both looked like they'd seen better days but there was an obvious sense of relief in both their blue eyes.
Kirari wasted no time making a bee-line for Sayaka.
"Thank you for accompanying her all this time.." Kirari said quitely to both Midari and Mary, "You all may leave now."
Mary rolled her eyes but had no complaints leaving, especially since her own wife was there now.
Ririka offered the shorter woman a smile as Mary walked over to her but as soon as she seen the state of the blonde's hand? Her expression turnt to concern.
"Mary, baby, your hand..?"
It was actually broken.
"Y-yeah.. Yeah I guess we should go get it checked out.." Mary mumbled, melting into Ririka's embrace, feeling her wife wrap an arm around her waist while they walked out.
"Riri? I hope you know we're never having kids.."
Ririka offered her wife a kiss on the forehead and a small laugh. One day she'd change her mind-- surely.
Now, all that remained in the room was Midari and the expecting parents and the annoying beeping machines.
Kirari sent Midari a look to silently tell her to leave.
Midari smirked in response.
"Say, boss?"
Kirari hated when Midari called her that. Everthing she started a sentence off with that--? Something ridiculous or illegal followed shortly behind.
"Whatever you'd like, consider it done."
She had no time to play Midari's games and honestly? Midari-- although chaotic-- had done her a favor.
"Sweet.. Can I also get the key to the liquor---"
Kirari wordlessly tossed a pair of keys over to the bartender and watched Midari bolt out of the room.
Finally.
She turnt her attention to her wife..
Sayaka looked exhausted.
She was sweaty and pale and her bangs stuck to her forehead. She was dressed in a hospital gown and a blanket covered her bare legs. She looked in pain.
She was in pain.
"Darling.." Kirari started, unsure of what to do or say.
The guilt she felt was immense. Her wife had been in labor for hours and she was only just getting to her?
"D-don't apologise.." Sayaka shook her head, "You made it in time and that's all that matters to me.."
It was one thing for Kirari to miss some of her labor-- it was another thing to miss their daughter's birth.
"I'm here now." Kirari cooed, leaning over and kissing her wife on the sweaty forehead. "It'll be alright.."
---
It was late into the night, past midnight when the actual delivery started.
At first, Kirari really was unsure what to do. There was nothing she could do to take Sayaka's pain away and she felt useless just standing there.
Yet, after awhile, they'd fallen into a pattern of embracing through the worst of the pain. Sometimes, Sayaka would hide her face in the crook of Kirari's neck while Kirari rubbed her shoulder and back soothingly.
Other times, Kirari would simply whisper mindless praises and soft nothing's in Sayaka's ear as she boar the pain. It was getting pretty intense. Her wife had yet to cry out very loudly. Sure, she'd made a few noises here and there but that was expected. Even the nurses now coming in and out of the room seemed surprised by the woman's pain tolerance and restraint.
Sayaka was always so fascinating..
"You're doing very well, my dear."
Sayaka watched nervously as things were set up around the room. This was.. Really happening?
Yuri was on her way to meet them.
Various shiny tools were laid out on a few little tables across the room just in case and a few midwives were getting a little bed set up for their daughter when she arrived. Sayaka used that as motivation to get through it. She wanted nothing more than to finally hold her daughter.
Soon, with contractions? Came the urge to push.
It was an odd sensation that took over her form without mercy. The doctor had explained that it was normal and that she was fully dialted now so it'd happen eventually.
This feeling was what scared Sayaka..
"I.. I can't.." She finally said quietly.
The fear was written on her pale face.
It made Kirari frown.
"Shh.." Kirari hummed, leaning forward and pressing a soft kiss to her hand, leaving a small blue mark on Sayaka's knuckles in an oddly comforting way. "Yes, you can sweetheart.. You've never backed down from anything even when it got hard. You can do this."
That was true..
But this?
Sayaka let out a small grunt of pain, shifting uncomfortably on the hosptial bed.
"I know it hurts.." Kirari whispered-- if she could take all the pain away from her? She would do so in a heartbeat. "But we're so close to meeting her.."
That they were..
"R-rari.." Sayaka whimpered, letting her forehead rest against the older girl's from a few seconds. "I.. I hope she has your eyes..." She suddenly confessed.
Kirari closed her eyes, humming and smiling at the thought. "Oh?" The doctor soon approuched them with a warm smile-- she was an elderly woman, "Shall we find out what our little fish looks like?"
---
The room was full of intensity and raw emotion.
It was around four in the morning and Sayaka was lightheaded and tired to no end. Her limbs were shaky and her body felt grossly sweaty. She'd been pushing for over an hour-- Kirari by her side through it all.
Nurses offered support and water when needed and they all occasionally took turns yelling out praises.
Sayaka just wanted this part to be over.
But? Nothing came easy and Yuri was already proving to be as stubborn as both of her mothers.
"Keep going my love, we're almost there.."
The soft praise in her ear and kiss to her cheek was what Sayaka needed to give one finale push.
With a finale cry of pain, their baby was born.
Yuri was born at four fifteen in the morning and came out crying a watery, loud cry.
It was the best sound in the world..
Sayaka fell back into the pillows behind her on the bed, exhausted and panting to catch her breath. Yuri was quickly placed on her chest and nurses helped dry her off, acting to sooth her cries-- turning them into whimpers.
Kirari had seen a lot of things in her life..
But seeing her daughter finally join the world and seeing the teary smile Sayaka gave her?
The tears of happiness began to fall before she could stop them. Kirari was a woman that never broke or bothered to shed a tear.. But in that moment? All the coldness melted away.
"Y-you did it, Sayaka.." Kirari said through happy tears, bending over and kissing her head, looking down at Yuri as the newborn calmed down and opened her eyes for the first time. "You did so well, d-darling.."
Yuri had identical blue eyes to Kirari.
Just as Sayaka had hoped.
She also has a head full of dark violet hair. Some babies were born without hair while some had a little but Yuri? Her head was full of dark hair. It was adorable. Her skin was pale, unsurprisingly.
Sayaka felt some of her own happy tears fall down her face but it didn't compare to Kirari. Her wife was a happy mess.. It was sweet. Who knew a woman with such a cold complex could break at the sight of her daughter?
Yuri already had them wrapped around her finger.
"I love you.." Sayaka said to her wife, glancing over at her-- Yuri was taken to get her vitals checked and to be bundled in a small pink blanket, fitted in a matching pink hat.
"I love you too.." Kirari said back without hesitation, leaning down to capture Sayaka's lips in a salty kiss.
Yuri was soon brought back to them and placed in Sayaka's arms once again, sleeping soundly
There was family was complete.
For now..
