Reconciliation

Summary:

When Headmistress McGonagall tells Harry that Violet Dursley will be attending Hogwarts next Fall, he can’t believe what he’s hearing. What’s even more difficult to believe is that Dudley wants to make amends. Could Dudley have genuinely turned a new leaf? Can Harry put aside his anger and resentment long enough to hear Dudley out?

I do not support JKR or any of her dangerous, harmful rhetoric regarding the trans community. I also acknowledge that the source material from which HP was written includes racist and sexist elements – Those are also not tolerated here.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Each Summer, Minerva McGonagall made her way up to the small, locked tower to sit by the Quill of Acceptance and the Book of Admittance and hand address welcome letters to incoming Hogwarts students. This was her respite from the, frequently overwhelming, responsibilities of being Headmistress. She let herself get lost in the glimmer of her emerald ink and let muscle memory take over.

As always, there was a mixture of familiar and unfamiliar names. She fondly rolled her eyes as she wrote a letter to yet another Weasley; this time Ron and Hermione’s youngest son, Hugo. A few letters later she came across Lily Potter. Smiling contentedly to herself, she turned the page to find…

Her soft intake of breath interrupted the silent sanctuary. There was no way that was the same… It couldn’t be… Dursley.

With a large sigh, she relaxed her posture and rested her aching back against the chair. This was going to be a difficult visit.
