A beast of some sorts has announced its self in the Darkscape, the Dark sides attempt to escape via the door but are stopped by the beast. So instead they run into the imagination and manage to outrun it. They decide to try and find Roman's door on his side of the imagination, this takes them a long time long enough to worry Thomas and the light sides who decide to summon Roman's door just in case. During their trip one of the dark sides over hear Janus talking to himself in the middle of the night about the beast, they quickly discuss about how Janus will enviably have to sacrifice himself too the beast in order for it to be vanquished and how the dark side will have to take the role of parent to the dark sides when that happens. A little while after the discussion, the darksides finally find Roman's door and go inside, while some of them are trying to explain the situation Janus sees the beast approaching and goes outside to fight it. Remus sees this and trys to stop him but gets stopped by the darkside before he can go outside, seeing this a couple others attempt to go as well before also failing.
Once Janus is very close the beast, Remus manages to break free and runs towards Janus with the others on his tail, but then Janus and the beast strike at the same time resulting in a wave of yellow light knocking everyone over. Once Remus recovers though he is left distraught and confused, they disappeared, the only evidence left of them is Janus's bowler hat, caplet, cane and lastly his logo. Remus tries to clutch these in his grasp as best as he can as he frantically looks around tryimg to find Janus. A darkside picks him up and throws him over their shoulder and walks them back to the door, remus is kicking and screaming for them to put him down. Late all the sides properly discuss what happened and what they do now, in the end they come to a conclusion to make a video about Janus's death and to just let everyone mourn in peace, Virgil starts to cry and have an attack during this discussion and mutter about how he treated Janus, ends up being comforted by 'Depression' who had joined Virgil on the stairs.
(The rest of the fanfic is just about them all going through the 5 stages of grief, their interactions with each other, them repairing their broken bonds, and maybe at the very end Janus returns)
