Meditations on being a vampire.
Contains flashing lights and quick cuts. Created for the Vexercises 3.0 Vexercise 2: Visual matching.
I was worried about visual matching as the editing focus since it's not one of my strengths, so I focused on that first and only after realized that the clips had formed a kind of narrative. I kind of interpret it as a meditation on existence as a vampire: from the creation of a vampire to the cycling of death, life, death, either the daily death into the grave, or the first death before becoming undead, and the first blood-drinking to become a vampire (pick your vampiric interpretation) to the continued blood-drinking to sustain existence. The "fate" written on the wall, the fire that never finishes burning: being soaked in blood could imply the futility of un-life. Anyway, this is all conjecture after having edited the clips together.
Thank you to chawlla_no_ko for the helpful beta suggestions!
Note: For these exercises, I'm working with the source text of approximately 1.5 hours of music video footage that I've assembled since around the end of 2020, all around the ENHYPEN vampire theme and similar mood in other music videos. this vid in particular uses only ENHYPEN MV and preview footage.
Content notes: this is made up of vampire imagery, so mild self-harm (biting a wrist), blood, drinking blood, blood-soaked character, as well as character with a hand on fire (but not burning) and implied falling into an open grave.
(See the end of the work for more notes.)
