Work Text:
Sundays were always Darcy's favorite day of the week. Not because she was able to sleep in (she wasn't) or that she went to church (she didn't) or that she didn't have to go to work (ha!). No, it was her favorite because whenever Brock was in town he made her his special patented Power Protein Pancakes. Sure, the base of it was from a box, but the fact that he joined her in destroying a stack of pancakes, over easy eggs, and turkey bacon was something she never took for granted.
They both walked through the door early Sunday morning. The both of them had just come off of a mission for Fury. It had been a doozy and Darcy just wanted to collapse into bed.
Unlike himself, Brock threw his go-bag next to the door and dragged his feet into the kitchen and started slamming cupboards. Darcy peeked around the corner to the kitchen and watched silently as he pulled out the basics to his Power Protein Pancakes. "...what are you doing?" She asked.
"It's Sunday morning and I plan on sleeping until noon, so we are having breakfast now." He opened a jug of milk and gave it a sniff before wrinkling his nose and pulled out a container of yogurt.
Darcy smiled wide and threw her own bag next to his. "I love you."
Brock started measuring the mix, added the yogurt, then an egg and two tablespoons of milled flaxseed. The pancake pan was already heating up when he cut a pat of butter onto it. The butter melted and Brock picked the pan up to swish it around the bottom.
They had frozen blueberries for Sundays like this. He poured a liberal amount into the bowl and gave it a stir before scooping a large pancake into the bottom of the pan. His pancakes always went first.
Darcy rested her hands on her chin after she sat and continued to smile when he pulled out the miniature chocolate chips for her. He never judged and knew it helped her on bad days.
He cooked both pancakes to perfection and served them up with a generous warm ramekin of pure maple syrup with butter on top. They both cut into their breakfast and Darcy fluttered her eyes closed, "Marry me."
"Alright," Brock answered around his mouth of pancake.
