Chapter Text

“Order Up!” was what MK was greeted to when he entered to shop floor as soon as his break was over. Anyone else would be annoyed that they were put back to work the second their break was over, but not MK. He loved his job, being the social butterfly, he was doing deliveries was a breeze.

With joy in his step, he walked over to the counter and scooped up three different bags, each one a different order for a different person. In MKs mind the people were one of the best parts about his job (it was next to the free room and his boss) he adored the brief conversations he had with the customers, and because he loved the meeting the people who ordered the food, he knew most regulars' orders. He also knew the way to their homes like the back of his hand. And luckily MK only had two hours until the shop would stop taking orders and he would go help close up.

“On it boss” was MKs response as he picked up the three bags of food and strutted out of the building. It was late in the night so it meant business was slow, which MK didn’t mind. Sure, it meant less people to talk to but it also meant less work for him.

Sliding into the delivery kart MK put the first address into the GPS, plugged in his phone in and put his headphone on, letting his delivery playlist play in his ears.

Once he and delivered all three meals he made his way back to Pigsy noodle shop, prepared to help close up then head to bed. Pulling down into the alleyway next to the shop he turned off his music and stepped off the kart into the shop.

“I'm back!” Mk said as he walked through the side door and into the kitchen, seeing Pigsy standing over some bowls adding the finishing touches to someone's meal, despite it almost being closing Pigsy would always let customers in if they were paying. Knowing Pigsy tends to hyper focus when he’s cooking MK just went to the supplies closet and got his cleaning supplies: a broom and some anti-bacterial wipes to clean the unoccupied tables with. Arms full, he made his way to the shop floor. All the seats were empty except the table of three in the corner who was going to get their food soon.

After a full forty minutes the customers had eaten and left, Mk had cleaned the store front and was ready to head up to his room and probably have an early night. Usually, he would watch some shows before bed but since training under Monkey King he wanted to get a lot more sleep to he wouldn't collapse during training. Leaving the shop floor after Pigsy gave him the go ahead he walked upstairs and called out night to Pigsy. Having a quick shower and changing into sleep clothes he jumped into bed, closing his eyes ready for the day tomorrow. He trained with Monkey King four days a week and worked seven days for Pigsy, which meant he didn’t have an opening shift tomorrow. But it meant he had to train until midday.

----------------------------

Being a young adult, most would expect MK to wake up later in the day, but no. MK was up at 6:30am ready to go train with Monkey King at 7am.

When training with Monkey King it was usually one of two things: them sparing or Monkey King giving MK directions and then watching and giving guidance. Today training was the former. The two heroes spend about four hours sparing with each other with a few 30-minute breaks between each sparing session. During each break MK would play with the monkeys and have some snacks. After all, out of the two training options, the sparing was very physically taxing on MK.

“You're doing great bud, I'm really proud of you!” Monkey king said handing a tired MK some water and some peach slices. “You almost had me a few times kid”

As MK was stuffing his face with the slices he looked up at his mentor, eyes wide and feeling proud of himself.

“Thanks Monkey King” MK said wiping peach juice off the corner of his mouth with his jacket sleeve.

“Well kid, you better get going. I don’t want your boss to yell at me for you being late...again” Monkey King said with a shudder as the memory of a very angry Pigsy yelling at him down MKs phone saying if MK was late again, he would personally shave all Monkey Kings fur off.

“Yeh your right, but it was quite funny” chuckled Mk, laughing at the memory. “Well, I best be off, see you tomorrow Monkey King!” MK yelled as he used his staff to make his way back to the city.

----------------------------

Arriving twenty minutes before his shift started, MK went right up to his room after saying hi to Pigsy, Tang and Mei. Heading straight for his shower to wash off the swear from training. Ten minutes later MK was clean and dry, ready for his shift. Getting into his work clothes he went down the stairs to wait the ten minutes until his shift started. As he turned the corner onto the shop floor he was immediately jumped by Mei.

“How was training MK?!” she said as she slung an arm over Mk shoulder.

“It went great, me and Monkey King spared for a few hours, I got pretty close to getting him a few times he said, so it went pretty well if you ask me!” Mk said as he slid into the seat next to Tang who was stuffing his face with a bowl of noodles.

“Glad it went well do- Hey! Tang, those were for MK not for you, you freeloader” Pigsy said snatching the half-eaten noodle bowl out from Tangs hands.

“What, I didn’t know. And what do you expect, you put a bowl of hot noodles In front of me and expect me NOT to eat them” was the scholars response. After a few seconds of silence from the gang, Mei and MK burst out laughing. As the two were letting their laughter die down MK reached over and began eating the food In front of him. As he was eating his food, he was listening to the conversation Mei, Pigsy and Tang were having. Not really paying attention as he was looking back on his training session, thinking about what he could do better next time. Before he knew it, it was time to start his shift.

----------------------------

After about twenty deliveries it was two hours until closing, Mei and Tang had both gone home about six hours into his shift as it was now about 8PM. As it was a Tuesday and it was near closing, the shop was very slow, which meant there would be very few deliveries. At least that was what MK was hoping for.

To MKs surprise there was five different deliveries waiting for him at the counter, but it was nothing new. Some days Pigsy had more orders than others and he still had two hours to get everyone their food.
