Work Text:
"Don't leave me here, please, I can't do this anymore! You always leave me when I need you the most! We can't keep doing this!" Izuku cried bitterly.
Katsuki froze in place, dropping the book he had previously been reading to the ground. He swiftly composed himself, glaring at the other. "I always leave you?! Well maybe I've gotten sick and tired of you thinking the whole fucking world revolves around you! I have my own problems to deal with right now, I can't handle any of your bullshit on top of that!"
"You could've just said that instead of immediately leaving! I could've helped you through your problems, just like we used too! You need to communicate with me here Katsuki, seriously, do you even love me anymore?" Izuku asked, storming forward to grab Katsuki by the front of his shirt, the question leaving him before he realised what he had said.
"Of course I still fucking love you!"
"No, you don't. Your lying. If you loved me you wouldn't treat me like I'm insufferable to be around! If you loved me we wouldn't be having this same argument again and again!" Izuku looked down, sniffling and wiping his eyes harshly, trying desperately to stop the tears. "You don't treat people you love like this..."
"I do love you." Katsuki stated, Izuku wasn't sure whether he was trying to convince him or himself as he said it.
"Say my name."
"Hah? Why-?"
"Please, just say it."
"Izuku." There was silence, that is, till Izuku pushed Katsuki away.
He let out a quiet, but unconcealed, sob as he crossed his arms over his chest. There was no love, no memories, no joy in his voice when his name came from the others mouth. It was dull and empty and angry.
"Go ahead and leave. There's no love between us now." Izuku sighed. He admittedly had fallen out of love, though slower than Katsuki had. He sadly hadn't yet noticed it till now. Katsuki heaved a sigh, nodding before picking up his book and walking away.
Izuku never heard Katsuki say his name again.
