Work Text:

Peter Parker was forgotten by everyone and after MJ and Ned left for MIT, he figured he would never have friends or family again. He was wrong. Harley pulled him in like a rolling tide and brought him back to having someone who cared about him. It was nice and then Harley introduced him to Harry Osborn who now went by Harry Lyman. It had been worrisome since Norman Osborn killed his aunt but Harry’s dad was dead. Died when he was a kid from an illness that Harry didn’t have and did checks each year to verify that he didn’t have the same illness. Peter liked Harry and he could see why the other versions of Peters and Harrys were friends. So maybe Harry was a different version not affected by his dad but Peter still watched him. That is why when Flash showed up five years later and Peter slowly became friends with his ex-frienemies that he was open to helping him. See Flash had changed a lot since he was a teen. Now the two got along especially when it came to hanging with their new crew which included Harley and Harry. It wasn’t long before Flash introduced some of his college friends and MJ and Ned were back in his circle along with Gwen who was MJ’s girlfriend. It was nice to have them back and then Betty showed up and started dating Ned and the jokes started about Flash and Harry. Peter, who still wasn’t close to anyone besides Harley and Flash, saw how Flash looked at Harry. Peter had never seen him look like that at anyone.

“Flash,” Peter had said the first night he noticed. “Is there something going on between you and Harry?” Flash just told him, no but the sadness in his voice was enough to get him convinced. Peter had to play matchmaker and Harley was going to help him.

Flash liked Peter Parker a lot but Peter had always felt familiar as if he was hiding something from his friends. Still, Parker was smooth at hinting towards his crush on Harry and was a bit worrisome as the other one cared about him in his strange way. He knew Peter would try something but he didn’t think it would be a double date with Harley and Peter.

“It’s not a double date,” Peter had told him. “We are just hanging out as friends.”

“You sure this isn’t you thinking you know everything?” Flash said.

“As long as you don’t have a crush on Harry or Harry doesn’t have a crush on you then no one is going to be double dating,” Peter said. Flash wanted to point out that he did have a crush and he was worried about Harry figuring it out, but Peter would just use that to his advantage.

“As you said. I have nothing to worry about unless Harry has a crush on me which he doesn’t,” Flash said. He didn’t notice Peter rolling his eyes and smiling at his success. Whatever would happen it would be up to Harry and Peter knew Harry could get Flash but that would require them to get their heads together.

“As I was saying, Peter and I were going to this concert and ran into each other and that is how we met,” Harley said. Peter could have corrected Harley and said that he was originally in costume beforehand but he rather not bring that up. It was already bad enough that no one could know he was Spider-Man but it hurt worse that he had to lie to Harley.

“Yeah, I can’t even remember what concert it was,” Peter said.

“I can, it was Little Nas X,” Harley said. “He just had started to sing ‘That’s What I Really Want’.”

“Right,” Peter said. He just remembered stopping a villain that night and meeting Harley Keener and giving his number only for the cute guy from the concert to call him the next day asking him on a date. Peter was desperate to talk to someone and Harley listened well. Not that he could tell him all the truth. Like how the whole universe forgot about him.”

“Better than meeting Harley at a gala. That was the worst day of my life and it was for my dad,” Harry said.

“I met Peter at a sandwich shop that Ned told me about. Apparently, Delmar’s has a favorite customer,” Flash said.

“Delmar’s is the place that the one guy that said he talked with Spider-Man about sandwiches once said that Spider-Man liked,” Harry said. Peter seemed surprised by that knowledge but people still remembered Spider-Man. Aaron Davis must have remembered that one encounter. Flash seemed to be interested in the conversation.

“You like Spider-Man?” Flash asked.

“He is only the best superhero,” Harry said.

“I agree there,” Flash said.

“What about Iron Man?” Peter said. Harley looked upset but the other two didn’t even hear him talking about his other self.

“Iron Man was my favorite,” Harley said. Peter hugged him pulling Harley close. He knew Harley had known the hero as well but he didn’t know the extent of their relationship. Flash and Harry were still talking about Spider-Man. Peter rolled his eyes as he said something about how they were perfect for each other. Both shut up as Harley looked at him confused.

“They both like the same superhero. That doesn’t mean they are perfect for each other,” Harley said. Peter looked at his boyfriend realizing that he should have explained what was going on to his boyfriend as well. Peter looked at Harley then sighed.

“I meant that they act like they like each other, Harls,” Peter said.

“Oh,” Harley said. Harry and Flash both looked down, blushing. Harley figured out what Peter was doing. “Peter, let's be honest if either of them liked each other they would never admit it.”

“What do you mean?” Flash said.

“Yeah, if I had…” Harry stopped looking at Flash trying to figure out how to say it.

“We would admit our….” Flash looked at Harry waiting for him to finish. Both keep looking at each other. Harley and Peter both smiled at each other as the two waited for the other to say anything.

“I might have a crush on you,” Harry finally said looking down. Flash looked surprised. He looked at Peter and pointed at Harry.

“I might like you too,” Flash finally said. Peter and Harley just watched as they went to kiss but stopped looking at them.

“We will leave,” Harley said. Peter tried to argue but he didn’t win. Flash looked at Harry happy that his crush liked him back.

“So you were going to kiss me?” Harry asked. Flash nodded as he moved closer and kissed him. The two had just kissed their crush and maybe had become more than friends of friends thanks to one idiot who just wanted to help his friend/ex-frienemy.
