Chapter Text
There was a small village, well it wasn’t exactly small but it was small enough that everybody knew each other. The village was isolated from the rest of the world. Nobody had really ever left the village, many people joined the village because they loved the community so much, they decided to never leave.
There were many interesting character in the village and Tubbo was just one of them. He is a young orphan boy, a goat hybrid, so that made him stick out more than he already did. Tubbo was short for a 16 year old but he didn’t act as young and as ‘innocent’ as he seemed, he had quite a vulgar mouth. Well not overly so, but just enough to make some people feel uncomfortable. Tubbo had moved into one of the empty homes that he shared with his best-friends Ranboo. They met each other at a very young age and instantly clicked, they had moved in together at the mere age of 10 years old. And they met 4 years earlier.
But back to the forest, it had appeared one night out of the blue many, many years ago. The forest had reputation of leading misfits to their timely demise. The 4 people who had gone into the forest and had never back out had reported the forest calling out for them. That they had a connection with the forest, that it felt like their home, that they need to go to the forest to feel complete. And we know how the story goes; they go into the forest and they never come back out.
But Tubbo knew what he felt was different, the forest felt like how to Tubbo. A home he wasn’t allowed into. He had sit at the border of the forest always wanting to go in and to explore his home. But somebody always stopped him and that someone being Ranboo. God he really did love Ranboo but it hurt Tubbo know Ranboo stopped him from going home.
When Tubbo heard that the village was hosting a search of the forest, Tubbo jumped at the opportunity and offered to go. And he was the only one who was brave enough to go in. Ranboo tried to go too, but Tubbo refused to let Ranboo to go with him, insisting he had to take care of their home. Ranboo reluctantly agreed and stayed home as Tubbo volunteered himself for something so obviously dangerous.

It had been a week and Tubbo was finally able to enter the forest that he had been wanting to visit for so long. The village had banded together and provided food, water, spare clothes, a sleeping bad and a journal to note all his discoveries in and it all was obviously in a bag. The bag was quite heavy but Tubbo was strong enough to hold it, for such a small build he was strong enough to hold it.
Tubbo looked behind him, there was a crowd of people, to be honest he had never expected so many people would watch him go home. But everybody had come. Ranboo was separated from the crowd, he was in-front of everybody. Tubbo walked over to Ranboo and squeezed him into a tight hug. Tubbo buried his face into Ranboo’s stomach. Ranboo froze for a second but he hugged back just as tight. Not that Tubbo would ever admit it, but he cried, Tubbo finally pulled away, and as he did said, “I’ll see you on the other side?” Ranboo smiled, “Of course you will, and if you don’t I’ll storm into that forest myself and find you. Got it?” Tubbo chuckled, he didn’t knkw what came over him but he replied with a soft, “You promise..?” Ranboo’s goofy smile turned soft and comforting, he whispered back “Promise.”
Tubbo turned back around and started walking towards the forest. He didn’t know how he got the forest so fast, Tubbo waved his hand up in the air, waving goodbye and shouted, “BYE!” loud enough his voice hurt. When he heard a goodbye that was equally as kid as him was. And with a long breath he finally entered the forest.
