Travis County DA is part of South Texas' biggest crime syndicate: fucking STAN MORRISON is a major player in the
Northside Nation. The enemy.
"You may as well admit it, Stan. If you admit your part in Emily's death, and Hoyt's...I'll talk to my brother about a deal.
That's IF you come clean before the investigation uncovers it anyway. You have until we arrive at the border." Using his
pistol, Cordell motioned for Stan to get into the driver's seat of his (Cordi's) truck; when both are inside he says "Drive"
and handed Morrison the keys to the ignition. "Where to?" he asks, starting the truck.
The Ranger orders him to follow 35 South to San Antonio, then Hwy 10 to the border. The drive is about 4 hours long,
and either guilt, regret, shame, or a combination of the three loosen Morrison's tongue: during his first campaign for DA NSN
funded it (including spreading the necessary cash around--unofficially) to ensure his election. "After that, they owned me, Cordell.
All the way."

"What does Walker need now--we're going to the lake...I thought...?"
While changing from her Ranger uniform into a shirt, jeans, and boots, Micki explains to Trey that her partner is unknowingly driving straight
into a trap set by NSN-it's unsure how Morison signaled them, and the method isn't relevant -only that a UC alerted Captain James of the plot.
"That text was him asking me for back--up-I can't let him down, Babe. He's...off-book. Morrison is his hostage. there's no one I trust to roll with me
more than you or James, who can't for obvious reasons--I NEED YOU WITH ME-PLEASE."
"My 'shit' or yours?" is all her boyfriend asks, meaning which vehicle they'll travel in.
"Yours: we just bought it, and less chance anyone will recognize it...vamos?"

The couple has a quick meal on the outskirts of San Antonio (Micki's hometown). Trey's unusually quiet, prompting Micki to initiate the
conversation:
"¿Confies en mi, Verdad Amor ?" (You trust me, don't you Baby?)
"¿No lo sabes ?" (Don't you know?)
Claro...solamente...yo sé que paso mucho tiempo con Walker-demasiado tal vez, pero...el es mi socio, Muñeco.
(Of course. only...I know that I've spent a lot of time with Walker-too much, maybe but he's my parner, Baby).
"Estas obligada a ayudarlo. Estoy de acuerdo con eso. En serio. " (You're obligated to back him up. I'm fine with it.)
"When we get there-" Micki started to say.
"I'M taking the lead," Trey stated firmly, brooking no further argument.
"OK", she conceded. "I brought two M4s and two .45s. We won't know how many are part of the ambush party until we're there. Now...we
made it back from overseas: we WON'T be taken down by criminals and thugs."
Trey agrees. "They can't stop us." They are back on the highway leading to Del Rio not long after...

"Mack-The Director of the Seattle Office on the line, along with Seattle Mayor Hendrix."
"Thanks, Louisa. Director Ripley; Mayor Hendrix...a credible threat has been identified consisting of multiple criminal organizations,
with a nexus in your city. You've seen the bulletin; the AG wants the Eastern European and Russian mobs stopped before they gain a foot-
hold with the Washington State and Oregon militias. Mayor, we can count on you for local PD support?"
"Absolutely," replies Leon. "I have a call into the County Executive for Sheriff's department resources and to the Governor for State Police
assets. I'll keep you apprised, of course."
"Thank you. Lucas, I'm dispatching two hundred additional agents to you; you'll have Marshals as well s the gamut of alphabets to meet
and crush these threats. Homeland's taking the lead, due to the international threat."
"Understood. I see that the AG is phoning; I'll be in touch." The trio say their goodbyes and sign off.
Jan 17/2021 Chapter Update/

The Mayor opens the in-person/Zoom meeting: "Everyone, thank you for being here-I'll be brief: the County Executive will authorize funds
for 100 Sheriff Deputies to join the task force, and I hung up with the Governor's office a few minutes ago-we'll also receive National Guard and
State Police; once the FBI decides on fixed numbers I'll update you on exactly how many bodies we'll have on the ground. We're joined by Major
Costa, who'll brief the group on the intelligence his State Police Intelligence Unit has gleaned. Major?"
"Yes, Mayor...10 months ago we managed to infiltrate an outlaw biker gang-Sons Of Anarchy, or SamCro-who supply arms to Kavac
an ultra-violent Balkan criminal organization. Interpol and Interior Ministry Police in Montenegro and Slobodan Kascelan, alleged to be the leader
leader of Kavac, and a number of his top-level lieutenants. Our UCS report that now that Kavac and a Serbian gang are in a death struggle for
control of the narcotics trade in neighboring Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greece, Spain, and Italy. SamCro's partnering with Northside Nation, in
league with Oath Keepers, Washington State Militia, The Proud Boys, etc. I've looped in Assistant Director Reade in New York of our findings."
"Thank you, Major. We have Captain Larry James on the line, Commander of the Austin, Texas Ranger unit. Captain."
"Good morning. ATF and NSA have verified that Czech criminal Radovan Krejčíř is here in Texas, negotiating a major shipment of people,
arms, and narcotics from our targets. To clarify NSN is affiliated with Los Zetas and the Sinaloa cartel, all investors in the purchase. ATF, NSA,
New York's Critical Response Unit, and my office plan to intercede in that transaction, which takes place in two days. OH...we now know that
Tomas Serrano is Northside Nation's titular head. He has already ordered the assassination of a state's witness, proving
that he has no ceiling on ruthlessness. I'll need to step away, Mayor...the state AG's attorney is calling."
Ari Lan, from the Mayor's office, says "I read that that guy--The Texas Attorney General--is facing his own legal issues--corruption."
"RIGHT!" King County District Attorney Lorena Sanz (on Zoom) says. "I've already spoken with the Assistant State AG, Rolando Cavazos.
The US Attorney assigned him to assume command of the investigation. Cavazos is completely vetted and I can personally vouch for
him. There's no evidence that Paxton is compromised by NSN...there also none that heisn't...we know--rather SUSPECT-
that he's corrupt: corrupt in one-"
"Corrupt in ALL," says Ari. "Something else: Mr. Mayor--how much of this are we making public?"
"None of this directly 'touches' SFD--YET...so let's hold off on any public acknowledgment for now."
