Work Text:

Midoriya Izuku always knew who she loved. Ever since she was little, she adored the sharp smirk, the shining  Sun  that was Bakugou Katsuki. As young as the age of 3, her heart thumped faster at the idea of spending the day with her friend. Even as she was called Deku and pushed around, she lived for being  noticed . She didn't mind being hurt by Katsuki. Yes, it hurt, and yes, it pained Izuku's heart, but she could never be angry at Katsuki- the one she loved. When her quirk came in, Izuku was awed and marveled at the sight of it. Explosions. It fit the fiery girl exactly. Bright and so full of beauty. Katsuki was always like the Sun to her. Her quirk just confirmed it.

Afterward, Izuku became excited for her quirk to come in. She wanted to be equal to Katsuki, to walk beside her, and to love her always.

At least she'll always love her.

Years passed and they're in middle school. Izuku became meek and anxious while Katsuki always shined bright. Even if Izuku never achieved her dream, she would support Katsuki with all her might.

"... I know you all want to be heroes!" The teacher exclaimed. Izuku picked up her head with a quiet grumble. Of course, the teacher had to encourage the yelling around her. Katsuki wasn't joining in the cheers, Izuku noticed. Her heart softened at the sight of the confident girl. She knew something might be going on, but she couldn't bring herself to particularly care.

"Bakugou, don't you want to go into UA?" The teacher asked. Katsuki's grin widened.

Izuku huffed- couldn't the teacher just shut the fuck up? Regardless, the class began to mutter.

"... 0.2%..."

Katsuki scoffed, "I aced all of the mock tests, of course I'll get in!"

The class protested, but then the teacher got a thoughtful look on his face. Oh god, he's going to expose Izuku. "Oh yeah, Midoriya, didn't you want to get into UA, too?"

Izuku's heart stopped. Her mind reeled as Katsuki came to mock her. She heard herself stutter out excuses.

"... hope for a quirk in the next life."

Honestly? Not a bad idea, Kacchan. But Izuku cared too much about Katsuki's future to actually commit suicide. She let herself laugh as she went under the underpass on her way home- not noticing the manhole opening behind her.

She latches onto the hero when she’s saved by All Might. The All Might.

"... No you can't be a hero without a quirk."

Oh, but Izuku already knew that. She already knew how worthless she is. She can't bear to hear it from her  hero . Is All Might even her hero? Hasn't it always been Katsuki? But Katsuki says the same thing too. It's the truth, Izuku muses. She stares off the ledge of the roof before shaking her head, remembering how her mother would be devastated to scrape her blood and bones off the pavement below. She could hear a fight a couple blocks down, excitement filling her heart before it crashes again.

Izuku turns and opens the door into the building- heading down. Her head hung as silent tears go down her cheeks. It takes a while, but the sudden explosion has her looking up.

A crowd has formed around the alleyway- heroes are surrounding the area. Izuku sighs and walks into the crowd anyways, wanting to check it out. Apparently, the villain has a hostage with him. Her age. Poor thing. Izuku's blood freezes as she sees the slime villain, holding onto a middle school girl with ash-blonde hair and familiar spikes. She hears Kamui Woods say she’s been stuck in there for several minutes.

Her heart drops to her stomach when the girl opens her eyes and looks into the crowd, terrified, begging. Tears are coming from  Kacchan’s  eyes. Two diamond streams that only makes the scene all the more frustrating.

Why weren’t the Heroes’ doing anything?!

Anger wells up within, and a few seconds pass, but when Kacchan’s normally sharp but now pleading meet Izuku’s frightened eyes, she moves.

Izuku doesn’t really know  why  she’s moving, or even registers until she’s halfway to Katsuki. But her mind reels with theories and she grabs her bag tight, taking a breath, and nailing the sludge in its eyes.

It does the job, and Katsuki  breathes .

A familiar gush of air comes and she knows they’re okay, because All Might is there.

“... Young Woman, you too can be a Hero.”

And Izuku breaks. She sobs like she never has before. Her chest hearts with the heaving breaths she needs to take. But she’s happy.

“One for All,” She gently repeats when she calms down. Her eyes shine with the new information.

And the next day starts her strenuous plan to train so her body can be ready for All Might’s quirk. 10 months to prepare for the UA entrance exam.

5 months in, she comes out of the shower and finally takes a proper look at her body, her breath catching. She looks  strong.  Her mother is in shock as she feels her muscles. Izuku is  proud  of her progress. She finally feels like she’s finally getting a chance to be a hero.

Katsuki, on the other hand, is confused as she notices the smaller girl getting stronger. It starts when Izuku pulls up her sleeves as she concentrates on homework. Her forearms used to be so tiny, now lined with the beginning of working out. During gym, Katsuki can’t help herself as Izuku’s toned legs show as she’s changing.

Frankly, Katsuki is most shocked about the sudden change in demeanor of Izuku. It seems as if one day, she was meek and small, and the next day, she’s carrying herself highly. Confident. It pisses Katsuki off, to think that Izuku changed since the Sludge Villain incident.

Didn't you?

Izuku knows it hurts loving Katsuki. Every glare sent her way, every snarl. She takes some solace in knowing this look is used to everyone, even adults, and that it’s not that bad. It does little to ease her.

She wants to be the center of Katsuki’s attention, like how Katsuki is the center of hers, like the Sun or the middle of the galaxy. She wants to be loved so deeply like how she loves Katsuki, or how she admires Katsuki. She takes what she can get in this sort of- hesitant understanding.

Still, Izuku’s going to be a Hero. One that can save everyone with a smile. One that can inspire hope. And if she has the added motivation of continuing to be in Katsuki’s inner circle, that’s her business.

The first day at UA passes and she sees that nice girl that she saved at the entrance exam, Ochaco Uraraka. She meets another friend, Tenya Iida, as well. Her homeroom teacher is  the  Eraserhead, Shota Aizawa. Katsuki seemed quiet for the duration of the day, but that’s to be expected, after all, she’s always quieter when Izuku comes into the picture.

Well, that lasts until the Quirk Apprehension Test, and Izuku uses One for All to throw the ball further than Katsuki’s. That really causes her to get angry and try to explode at Izuku.

Still, all in all, a good day.

Then, they get attacked by villains at the USJ attack, the Sports Festival happens (Kacchan wins, of course, she said she would.), Stain happens, she gains some more control over One for All, and then the final exam happens. Izuku and Katsuki are paired together to fight All Might.

Izuku knows the best choice is to run away, since even with a power as amazing as Katsuki’s, All Might is just stronger. Katsuki wants to fight, of course she does.

But the plan doesn’t go well, and Izuku screams at the girl until she agrees to make a plan together.

And plan they do.

Katsuki ends up passing out, but Izuku goes back and drags her out.

They pass.

They get to the training camp, which turns out to be a hassle as they had to fight their way through the forest to get to the camp itself. Of course, Izuku, Katsuki, and Todoroki are praised for how they handled the monsters.

A few nights pass, and Izuku is running around with both arms fucked and broken, tears streaming from her eyes, as she searches for Katsuki. The villains want  Kacchan,  why do they want  Kacchan ? She doesn’t understand, but she’s not letting them take her.

They took her anyways.

Izuku is standing by Katsuki as they scream for All Might to win, thick tears falling from Izuku’s eyes. Katsuki screams with her.

And then, with a final smash, All Might is done. All Might loses his power, and All Might is forced into retirement.

If Izuku looked over at Katsuki, she would have seen the exact moment that she realized where Izuku’s quirk came from, and the moment she believed she ended All Might.

“It’s your turn...” All Might says, and Izuku weeps. Katsuki makes another realization as she looks over at her.

The Provisional License exam finally happens. Class 1-A are all settled into their dorm, and everyone quickly realizes that Izuku and Katsuki are living together, and are correctly scared. However, with much smugness from Izuku, if they aren’t actually speaking with one another, they work together like a well-oiled machine. Such as in the kitchen- with Izuku learning how to bake and cook from her mother, and Katsuki learning easily when her parents go out of town, they together feed Class 1-A most of the time.

But, back on track, the license exam! They had about a few weeks to train, but Izuku was ready to finally be able to do actual hero work!

Taking a page out of Iida’s book, she learns how to kick and that her legs are quite strong.

Shoot Style is created. Katsuki stares at her from her platform as she destroys a piece of rock that was flying to All Might.

A piece of rock  she  broke.

The day of the exam was finally there and Izuku immediately started making plans- only to have Katsuki, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Todoroki splitting from their group. Despite knowing they’re strong, she hoped they didn’t fail too hard and adapted her plans, knowing that they’ll be targeted since they’re from UA.

And she was right. Immediately after the start of the exam, they were rushed by Ketsubutsu and separated soon after.

Izuku ended up in a fight with a girl from Shiketsu, the girl using really impressive techniques that Izuku wanted to learn about.

It turned out the girl wasn’t even her, but a villain.

Izuku passed the exam. Katsuki didn’t.

While Izuku was happy about her own success, Katsuki’s was... shocking. Izuku knew she was a hero through and through, so... why?

Class 1-A threw a party. A majority of them  did  pass.

“Deku. Come out here with me.” Katsuki murmurs to Izuku. The girl blinks, but nods, following Katsuki out of the dorms. Where they then go farther.

“Kacchan, where are we going? It’s past curfew,” Izuku nervously says. Katsuki ignores her and they finally arrive to the destination Katsuki wanted to be at. Ground Beta.

Some words are spoken.

“Let’s fight. Right here, right now.” Katsuki growls out.

Izuku’s eyebrows furrow.

“Huh? Why does it have to end up like this?! We’re not even supposed to be here, you know!”

But they do fight. And Katsuki cries. And screams. And Izuku understands her burden, even as she’s pinned under the panting girl.

Katsuki presses down on Izuku’s hips with her leg, and presses down one of her wrists with her foot, her hand on her face, and her other hand gripping onto her other wrist.

If it was any other situation, Izuku would be blushing a lot. But she just breathes heavily against Katsuki’s smoked caramel scented hand.

“Kacchan...” Izuku whispers. Katsuki scoffs and whispers back.

“All Might’s power and you can’t even beat me.”

Izuku’s mind blanks as her body catches up to their position and her face flushes. Katsuki takes a deep breath and lets go of her with her hands. Izuku reaches up to her and cups her cheek.

Katsuki looks over and narrows her red eyes.

“What are you doing?”

“Kacchan- I-” Izuku huffs and pulls the girl down into a kiss.

Butterflies erupt in Izuku’s stomach, she can feel Katsuki’s eyes widen, and before Izuku can be properly rejected, she pulls away herself.

Only to be pulled into another kiss by Katsuki.

House arrest? Worth.
