upon the east blue shore

Summary:

"It's okay, I've got you to catch me."

Work Text:

"Upon the East Blue shore the waves do roar, with seas that roll and waaaaaave! That noble sea is the place for me, the East Blue is my hoooooome!" Sanji happily sang.

It was just one of the many sea shanties the Cook had belted out on their way through the town towards the Merry.

They'd visited the local tavern and had a little too much to drink; it hadn't had much of an effect on him but the same could not be said however for Sanji.

"Come on you." He ushered him along, wrapping an arm around his waist to keep him upright.

The Cook giggled.

"I'm not drunk."

Zoro smirked.

"Suuuuure..."

Swirly brow's head came to rest on his shoulder.

"I wish the East Blue was my home, it would've made things a lot simpler."

He furrowed an eyebrow.

"Were you not born there?"

The blonde shook his head.

"I'm from the North."

That was certainly news to him.

"Where abouts?"

Sanji seemed to clam up.

"You know... the North."

"I don't really know much about that region."

"You don't want to, it's just cold and grey."

"Was the part you were from nice?"

He watched curly brows pause before a simple shake of the head came as his response.

"You wanna' talk about it?"

Another shake.

Zoro sighed before wrapping his arm a little tighter around his boyfriend.

"The East Blue is your home."

Sanji furrowed an eyebrow.

"Hmm?"

"I mean, the Baratie's there right, and you helped Zeff build that?"

"I suppose..."

"A home isn't always where you were from, it's where you feel loved."

Sanji smiled.

"Then I have two homes then; the East Blue, and the Merry."

Zoro smiled too, leaning down to press a kiss to the blonde’s cheek.

"Come on, before Nami charges us a late fee."

Curly brows chuckled.

"Ahhhhh Nami-swan." He fawned.

"Yes; she'll be overjoyed to see you, especially as drunk as you are." He teased.

"Lovely lovely Nami-swan."

~~~
As they arrived back on the Merry, Usopp and Nami were sat out on the deck staring up at the stars together, their laughter carrying through the calm silence of the night.
"Nami-swan!"
Zoro smirked as he caught his boyfriend under the arm after he tripped on the gangplank.
"Careful."
"It's okay, I've got you to catch me."
And with that, he walked off with Usopp towards the galley, probably to make some tea.
~~~

She'd heard the voices of the two idiots coming from what seemed like a whole mile. When they eventually arrived on the gangplank she'd managed to witness the quick thinking of their swordsman in catching his partner before he ended up face first on the wooden plank. The comment she’d heard in response though brought an immediate smile to her face.

"It's okay, I've got you to catch me."

The relationship Zoro and Sanji shared made her heart feel full. When alone they were both hard edged and abrupt; the first line of defence and dangerous to take on.

However...

When they were together, especially when they were alone, the two were softer with each other and bloodsheddingly protective.

It was adorable.

It took barely any time at all for the two to fall for one another, and much much longer for them to admit to being a couple at all. They'd all known what was going on before the announcement anyway, because neither of them were exactly subtle, or in fact good at keeping secrets, but they'd still made sure to act surprised anyway.

She couldn't have been prouder the day they did announce it though.

They were her boys and despite not being one of the known fighters on the crew, she knew in her heart that she would protect them with every ounce of her being.

No one hurt her boys.

No one.

She noticed how Zoro looked taken aback by the comment.

She walked over with a smile.

"He loves you so much."

"I know." Their swordsman finally answered.

"And he knows exactly how much you love him so you don't need to worry about that either."

That brought a smile to his face, soft and gentle.

"I know."

"Good."

She linked her arm through his and led him towards the galley.

"Come on, the tea's probably ready by now."

"If the drunk idiot has managed it." Zoro teased, leaning closer in against her.

She smiled.

"You smell like a brewery."

"Shut up... witch." He chuckled.

She smirked.

"Bastard..."
