"Catraaaaa!" Glimmer called out as she walked through the halls in the castle, carrying a large parcel in her arms. It wasn't usually a royal duty to deliver the mail, but this package was of particular value to one of her friends and as such, she wanted to deliver it personally.
It was still a bit unusual having Catra living in Brightmoon, though Glimmer knew this was the perfect place for her. She was glad to be able to call Catra a friend and it had made her happy seeing her turn over a new leaf and for her and Adora finally getting to be together as a couple.
She motioned down the corridor slowly, trying her best not to drop the parcel she was carrying. She could have probably teleported the parcel to Adora's room, but teleporting required a lot of concentration, something that was rather hard to do when Glimmer was carrying such a heavy parcel as this.
Eventually, Glimmer arrived at Adora's and Catra's room, tapping her foot on the door. "Hey, girls, I've got something for you!"
"Coming!" Adora called out, as Glimmer heard the sound of two people climbing off their bed and heading to the door. Adora opened the door, grinning. "Oh, hi Glimmer!"
"Ugh, what is it, Sparkles?" Catra groaned. "You were seriously interrupting our afternoon snuggling. If you need Adora for something, she's off-limits, got it?"
Glimmer giggled at how possessive Catra was. "Actually Catra, I was here for you. I was in Plumeria today checking in on Perfuma and Scorpia and Scorpia gave me this." She handed the package over to Catra. "She wanted me to pass it on to you!"
"It's a big box Catra," Adora noted. "What is it?"
Catra held the rather scruffy, worn box in her arms, looking it over. Already from the sight of it, memories came flooding back, of how she was found in a box only slightly larger than this when she was but a tiny kitten. On the side of the box was a note written in Scorpia's... not exactly that great handwriting but Catra could make out the words "Dear Wildcat."
Then it hit her. "Oh yeah!" Catra then spoke up, remembering when she and Scorpia had spoken after her last therapy session with Perfuma. "Scorpia said she and Lonnie found some of my old junk while they were looking through the Fright Zone ruins a while back. She did say something about sending it my way once it was all packed up."
"Do you wanna open it?" Adora wondered.
Catra sighed, plopping the parcel on the bed. "I dunno... I mean, it's nice that Scorpia found this junk but just... it's not really me anymore, is it? As far as I'm concerned, the toxic jerk to who that stuff belonged to died a long time ago... before she was then brought back to life by a certain magical girlfriend of hers."
Adora blushed a little, but Glimmer just rolled her eyes. Catra just loved to flirt outright with Adora all the time.
"Come on, Catra!" She chimed in. "I just lugged this stuff all the way back from Plumeria. I gotta know what was worth all of this."
Thinking for a moment, Catra looked at the box. She had been running from her past for too long. Yes, she'd tried to make up for all the bad things she'd done... but was everything that happened in her past so bad? She still loved to reminisce with Adora of the fun times they had together as children, messing around and getting up to all sorts of mischief.
"Fine," Catra accepted. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt... but if there's anything that makes me uncomfortable here, we're burning it, capiche?"
"Completely understood! I've been meaning to test out my pyrokinesis spells anyway," Glimmer chirped. "Adora, you wanna do the honours?"
Adora summoned her sword, transforming it into a small knife. "It would be my pleasure!" She then stabbed the parcel with the knife, cutting open the sticky tape before she pulled it open to reveal its contents. Inside were all manners of things from Catra's past and the memories instantly came flowing back.
Something that was of note to Adora were the items of clothing on top. One of them being a familiar pink and burgundy suit with a tie.
"Hey, Catra... Isn't that?"
"My Princess Prom suit!" Catra exclaimed. "I thought that got vaporised!" She pulled it out and held it against herself. "Hmmm, still looks like it's my size."
"You wanna keep it?" Glimmer asked. "I mean it was what you wore when you kidnapped Bow and me."
"Nah, I'm good with this one. Whether I'm good or bad, I know I rock a great tux," Catra answered. "This'll be great to wear the next time I take Adora somewhere fancy."
Reaching into the parcel again, Adora pulled out something else. It was a familiar scarlet headpiece, carved into a particular shape that fit around Catra's face. She held it in her hands and looked at it, almost seeing the image of the old Catra behind it.
"Oh hey, I forgot I had a spare one of these," Catra admitted, taking the headpiece and looked into it. She saw her reflection staring back at her, laughing at her, mismatched eyes of the woman who wanted nothing more than to see the person who had once been her best friend dead and Etheria hers to rule.
Adora put a hand on Catra's shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"No... maybe we should get rid of this one," Catra replied, putting it down. "It's definitely too much like the old me. Hell, it's literally the symbol of what I... who I used to be."
Adora nodded. "Alright. Glimmer, start a pile of things Catra totally wants burnt to a cinder!"
"Gotcha!" Glimmer replied. Then it was her turn to pull something out of the parcel. What Glimmer pulled out was what appeared to be a leather jacket with a snake symbol on the back of it Catra lit up again at the sight of it.
"Oh. Fuck. Yes." Catra grinned, grabbing the jacket and immediately slipping it on. "My Crimson Waste jacket! Oh, I missed this!"
Adora chuckled. "Yeah, I admit, it does look pretty badass on you."
"Hey, dummy, it doesn't just look badass, it is badass," Catra corrected, striking a cool pose.
"Didn't you like steal that from someone though?" Glimmer inquired.
"Yeah, but it's better off with me," Catra remarked. "And if that someone wants it back? Well, they're gonna have to fight me for it. Last I checked, I was still the strongest in the Crimson Wastes, remember?"
"I dunno, pretty sure Huntara will be wanting a rematch eventually," Adora added.
"Whatever, I can kick her ass any day of the week," Catra smirked confidently, taking off the jacket and putting it down on the pile with the prom suit, signalling she wanted to keep it.
And so things went on for the next hour or so, Adora, Catra and Glimmer bonding over the various items and Catra sharing snippets of her past with Glimmer, as well some stories she hadn't told Adora from the time they were apart. Surprisingly, the box was full of all sorts of nostalgic items.
From the first stun baton Catra used, to one of her old force captain badges, to a few old clothes Catra had as a child. She even found Catra's old tooth sharpener, something the catgirl was quite delighted to find again. But as Adora and Glimmer went through the last of the items, Catra started to put the things she wanted to keep in safe places around hers and Adora's room.
However, Glimmer found something tucked away at the bottom of the box. It was a few pieces of paper with various doodles on them. Both Adora and Glimmer knew Catra liked to draw. Heck, Glimmer was sort of considering having Catra paint her new royal portrait.
But neither of them had seen these particular doodles of Catra's before.
"Hey, Catra, what are these from?" Adora asked, holding up the papers.
Catra glanced around from the wardrobe, as she was currently hanging up her suit. "Oh uh, when I became Force Captain, I started doodling a lot more in meetings and stuff." She said, slightly distracted.
"Well, they're really good!" Adora compliment, flicking through the papers.
"Hey, what's this one?" Glimmer then spoke up, one of the papers catching her eye.
The paper in question had a collection of doodles on it. One of them was of what appeared to be Catra, labelled "Outfit Idea #43". It appeared to be Catra wearing some variation of Hordak's old armour, bulky shoulder pads and everything, with a slightly redesigned headpiece. It was labelled as "Horde Queen Catra".
"Oooh, that looks kinda cool!" Glimmer stated. "Horde Queen does have a nice ring to it."
"Not sure about the shoulder pads though," Adora noted. "But that cape looks pretty sweet."
"What are you babbling about?" Catra asked, a little confused.
But Adora and Glimmer were transfixed on the page of doodles in front of them. "Hey, Adora, that's you!"
"What?" Adora wondered. She looked closer, seeing that another drawing was of herself, wearing a slightly different version of her She-Ra form. It... It actually resembled her current She-Ra form quite a lot actually. Had Catra somehow predicted what her super form would be?
"Oh yeah, it does look like me!" Adora realised. "Wow, that's a really cool design! All slender and stylised and stuff. Might change my look to that one for sure. Hey, what's that bit down there?"
Catra's ears then pricked up. "Wait... What!" She then remembered what those doodles were. "No don't read that!!!" She blushed furiously, getting up.
But Adora already wasn't listening. She was staring right at the little doodle, two tiny faces of her and Catra with the words "they got married?" scribbled above them. Her face turned bright red and her heart beat faster and faster inside of her chest. Was this really happening?
Glimmer giggled. "Ohohohoho! Looks like wedding bells might be ringing soon!"
"No! Put that away!" Catra growled, very embarrassed.
But Glimmer was already running towards the door. "Hey Bow! You have got to see this!" she exclaimed. "Booooowwww!"
"Sparkles, come back here!" Catra roared, chasing Glimmer.
The catgirl managed to leap through the air, tackling Glimmer to the ground as she ran out of the room. But Glimmer quickly teleported away, running down the corridor as fast as she could.
"I'm going to tell everyone you wanna marry Adora!!!!" The Queen cheered.
"Sparkles, I'm going to fucking crucify you!!!!" Catra roared angrily, chasing Glimmer.
But meanwhile, Adora was in her room, eyes in a daze and cheeks red with blush. She couldn't believe it. She knew Catra loved her but to think she loved her that much. She had dreamed of it at times, especially in her vision of the future but she knew thought it would be real so soon.
"Catra... wants to marry me."
And Adora... well, as soon as Catra got back, she was sure as hell wanting to marry her as well.
