Work Text:
Jisung had always thought his life would just continue on like it always had.
He had never bothered to ask himself what he would do if the life he had come to know suddenly changed.
If his routine had to change because of something unexpected.
After all, Jisung was an ordinary high school student, with a boring routine and a pretty normal friend group. If you could call his friend group normal.
So he obviously hadn't expected his life to change until maybe after graduation. Because isn't it normal to worry about what you want to do in the later years of your life?!
But some things just happen. Some things in life happen so unexpectedly, that the time for preparations simply doesn't come.
Let's say your teacher announces a surprise test that you have to solve without having been given the time to learn for it.
Your boss at work suddenly fires you even though they were praising you for your good work just the day before.
Your significant other breaks up with you out of nowhere.
All of these things could have a bad or a good influence on your life, on your future.
The test could have a good or a bad result depending on how good you are at the subject.
You being fired could either open up new job opportunities or it could result in you being tight on money.
Your significant other could have been a bad person, and it would have been a good thing to get away from them.
There's a ton of different scenarios on how your life could go, what is going to happen in the future, what people you encounter in that time.
And then there are those whose lives are cut short, those who won't be able to experience what could've been, those who won't know what kind of people they could have encountered if they were alive.
It was a regular Wednesday. Jisung had gone to school like always, falling asleep in a particularly boring class because he had stayed up a bit too late gaming the night before. He had hung out with his friends at lunch and that was it. A normal day am I right?
The problem arose when he said goodbye to the others after school. His bus was late, which meant he needed to wait a little longer than his patience normally allowed.
When said bus finally showed itself he entered without a second thought and slumped down on one of the seats in the back, his ride wasn't going to be long but that shouldn't keep him from sitting comfortably for the time being. After about four stops more, Jisung was the only passenger left on the bus.
Now it did bother him that he had forgotten his earphones at home. He couldn't do anything against it, however, so he continued looking out of the window.
Soon it was his turn to push the button, signaling the bus driver that he had to get off at the next stop. He readied himself, going up to the door and holding onto one of the poles at the side to not stumble when it was time for the bus to stop, then the bus stop came.
Jisung waited patiently for the bus to stop at the side and open its door.
But the bus never stopped. Instead, the driver seemed to have ignored the push of the button.
"Excuse me?" he said loud enough for the driver to be able to hear it. "Could you please let me out?! That was my stop!"
The driver didn't answer. Was he ignoring him on purpose?
"Hello??" Jisung continued as he approached the driver.
When he came to the front to look at the bus driver he didn't know what exactly was playing out in front of him. The drivers' eyes looked glazed over like he had taken a few too many pills, while the guy was barely registering what was going on around him, barely enough to not drive onto the sidewalk at any chance.
Jisung began to panic. He was the only one left on the bus and the driver looked like he was gonna crash the vehicle into anything that they came across at any moment.
He wasn't at all familiar with how busses worked but Jisung began to frantically look around the driver to see if he could find the break or anything that could help him. He spotted the break after some time looking and maneuvered himself over the driver carefully to push it. To his shock, nothing happened. Either the break was broken, or the guy had purposefully ruined it.
Not knowing what to do. Jisung watched as the bus started nearing a really big building.
Preparing himself for the shock he started to cover his face with his hands.
But the shock never came. Instead of it, halfway towards the building, suddenly everything became flaming hot.
Jisung wasn't able to bring out a scream, instead, an explosion occurred and suddenly everything stilled as a loud sound rang in his ear, and everything just hurt.
He wanted to scream.
He wanted to let everything out.
And then everything turned black.
