Chapter Text
Electro particles fizzled in the air around her, invisible bindings threatening to squeeze the air out of her lungs. She tried to stand up, only to crumble back down to her knees, her vision blurring.
A hysterical laugh brought her gaze up from the floor.
"Oh...I'm sorry, it's just.." He said, before leaning down, his smile now replaced with an icey stare that seemed to burn into her soul.
"I imagined you'd last a lot longer than this." He stood back up, his hat jingling "You've gone soft, Traveller."
She couldn't do more than grit her teeth, glaring up at him with distaste.
"Oh, come on. Like you didn't see this coming." He tilted his head and clicked his tongue impatiently.
When he did so, the pain in her chest spread the to the rest of her body, intensifying and she gasped, wanting to and yet unable to scream. Every ounce of strength left her as she felt her power fading.
"That's it, just like that.." He mocked as the stream of her elemental energy flowed toward him.
He began spouting off about things Lumine didn't really catch between the ring in her ears and the buzz of the electro around her, he turned back toward her and noticed the lack of light in her eyes, his own gaze faltering for just short enough for her to wonder if she'd imagined it.
Before she could think too much about it, her weight gave out and her shoulders slumped as she fell to the ground on her side, electricity pulsating through her skin, her eyes lazily shut.
She was still.
Too still.
Did he kill her?
That easily?
No, he simply drained her power.
That's all.
Right?
