Work Text:
There was only one person who could put Pidge to sleep, and that was Keith. No matter who and no matter what, only the red paladin could get the little tech to bed.
They all knew about Pidge's irregular sleeping schedule but they still wanted her to get some rest. So the brave Keith fights a whiney Pidge. 'It's not that late' she says, 'you're not my dad' she spits, 'my family won't find itself' she stresses out.
They try to ease her mind, promise to find what's missing but it doesn't work. Keith is the only one who knows the secret words.
'Sleepy time' he'd say and proceed to sweep her off her feet and carry her like a sack of potatoes over his shoulder. No matter how much she protests and hits his back he doesn't let go until they are in the safety of her messy room. Which she gets scolded for and in exchange Pidge gives him the silent treatment with a big pout while in little ball.
He promises to leave, as soon as she changes and falls asleep. Which always takes some bickering and pillow fighting, which drains the remaining energy from the green paladin. Once she is vulnerable he tackles her and wraps her in blankets.
She tells him to leave, that she'll fall asleep as soon as he does. He doesn't move, instead he sits on the edge of the bed and promises to leave as soon as she falls asleep. That's when the talking happens.
When it's a little too quiet or getting too awkward, they start talking. But not the usual elevator chit-chat, no, they go to the deep stuff. They go from personal to conspiracy theories. They know each other's boundaries and try to not let their curiosity get the best of them.
When Pidge offers him a more comfortable place in the bed he doesn't refuse, just takes his jacket off and tries to not fall asleep as they both finish their sentences in murmurs and closed eyelids.
If Keith weren't such a hot-head he'd probably admit that whenever he sleeps next to her he gets the best sleep and he'd probably get the proud Pidge to admit that only with him does she enjoy sleeping.
