Prologue
In the ancient capital of Japan which was Kyoto there lived two clans one was called the Toshizous and was led by Isami who had a son named Souji who was slightly femine and was a hermaphrodite; The second clan was the Chikages and was led by Kazama who had a son named Hijikata.
Both Hijikata and Souji were raised to lead both of their clans and eventually the country in the future. Unexpectedly, though both Kazama and Isami did not foresee their sons falling in love with each other nor the fact that they will eventually meet each other in person; though both children spent considerable amounts of time with their parents being trained. So, how have these two destined lovers met?
Chapter 1: The Toshizou Clan
The Toshizou clan lived in a lavished palace that was ornately decorated and had an air of elegance as well as refinement due to the rich colors and a variety of decorative silks and tapestries that had the crest of the Toshizo which was a lotus surrounded by knives. In this palace which was a paradise for the head of the Toshizou clan which was Isami while his young son Souji was waited on hand and foot by servants and was guarded by the best warriors in the land.
He was well loved by not only his fellow clansmen but was worshipped by suitors who came from some of the most elite families in Kyoto who all wanted to marry him due to his beauty as well as because of his clan. HIs father Isami trained him to not only be beautiful but to be an independent strong warrior with an unbreakable spirit. He was trained in swordsmanship as well as how to use a knife with grace and efficiency. He was considered a master and a genius by his clansmen.
Even Though, Souji was well loved he despised all the attention and just wanted to be left alone and be treated like a normal person; Unfortunately, though he always had to sneak out just to get away from his many suitors in order to have his peace and quiet. Even, his own father Isami would allow him to get away to some place quieter and slightly more peaceful. He liked to go to a meadow that was secluded in the nearby forest near his home. Here, he was allowed to be himself and enjoy being in nature surrounded by beautiful flowers and birds as well as by the sounds of the forest.
Until, one day his father told him to come to his office to talk and when he got there his father said,” Souji I have decided to arrange a suitor for you; I know you do not want this so I am willing to allow you to find your own suitor as long as they are not from the Chikage clan. I am giving you twelve months to find your own suitor. But, there is a catch to this and it is that you are not allowed to tell them that you are hermaphrodite or that you are the heir to the Toshizou clan. If you can do this then I will allow you to marry whoever you wish as long as they are worthy.” In the end Souji replied, “ Yes, father I agree with your requirements and thank you for giving me this opportunity. I love you.”
One evening after he finished talking to his father he decided to go on an evening stroll since it was a beautiful clear night. So, he put on his haori over his yukata as well as his shoes. Once he was done he told his servant that he will be going for a walk to clear his head as well as to think about what his father had told him. While, he was taking his walk however he ran to a mysterious man that appeared to be around his age and had enchantingly mesmerizing violet colored eyes as well beautiful long dark hair and he was dressed in a simple outfit with a black haori over him as well. When they saw each other it was as if time just stopped. The only question that appeared in both of their minds was who is this beautiful man in front of me? or in Souji’s case who is this mysterious dark haired violet eyed man in front of me?
Chapter 2: The Chikage Clan
The Chikage clan was a powerful clan that lived in the northern most point of Kyoto and was a clan that was highly regarded for their ingenious maneuvering in the realm of Politics and were led by Kazama who was well known in Kyoto’s inner circles as one of the most powerful politicians in Japan as well as one of the most highly ranked members of Japan’s government. Kazama also had a son named Hijikata who was considered a prodigy in politics just like his father despite his young age. The Chikage clan’s compound was an ornately decorated palace that spanned an entire forest’s worth of land and was decorated in the colors royal purple and indigo as well as the halls were covered in tapestries that showed the Chikage clan crest which was a two katanas crossed over a lily which meant that the Chikage clan was considered one of Kyoto’s protectors in court. Hijikata was waited on hand and foot as well as having tutors who taught him everything from etiquette to politics to the art of horsemanship and even swordsmanship. Kazama wanted his son to be prepared to take for him and be Japan’s greatest politician and diplomat.
Despite, Hijikata being constantly forced to study for hours on end he just wanted to get away for a while to experience the outside world but, his father said, “ Listen my son you may not like being cooped up but, I am doing this so that in the future you’ll be able to face the challenges that you may one day face as well as be able to provide for your own family in the future when you one day eventually meet the one who will stand by you.” After he heard this from his father he immediately left his compound to think upon his father’s message and to get some air. He decided to go to the river bank which was three blocks away from his compound and had a beautiful view of the night time sky. He loved sitting by the bank of the river and just gaze up at the sky and just lie there and enjoy the soothing breeze coming from the river. Later, after staying by the river bank for a few hours he decided to return back home to rest and to prepare for the following day.
When he returned he went to his room which was huge and had a balcony as well as an ensuite bathing chamber which he enjoyed because while he bathed he could see the sky from his bathing chamber. Once he was done he got dressed into his white sleeping yukata. The next day he got up early to complete his studies and to go for a ride on his stallion through the meadow that was near his clan’s compound as well as the Toshizou clan compound which at the time he did not know that the Toshizos lived nearby to his clan’s compound or that he would encounter the heir of the Toshizou clan as well as not realize that he would that very night meet the person that would stand by him and help him rule the country.
After he was done for the day he decided that evening he would venture into the meadow for a stroll to get some fresh air. But, when he got there he saw a sight that he never thought he would see ever and it was the sight of a beautiful slightly femine man with long brown hair and golden eyes as well as having short stature but at the same time had an air of grace and poise that made him look like an angel. When he saw this mysterious angel he knew at that point that he was in love. Little did he know though that his mysterious brown haired angel was the air of a clan that normally did not associate with his clan.
Chapter 3: Meeting
The day after, Hijikata and Souji unexpectedly meet each other. The two young heirs begin their morning rituals of greeting their fathers and then beginning their studies for the day which in Souji’s case involve etiquette and learning the art of swordsmanship as well as basic politics and household management. While, Hijikata spends his time with his father meeting the heads of state and socializing with his fellow heirs of the families in Kyoto’s inner circle. Despite the fact that Hijikata despised dealing with his fellow peers as well as dealing with fangirls who constantly bother him in an effort to be his consort. But, his peers do not realize that he has met a certain brown haired angel who he has yet to discover his identity or his connection to Kyoto’s upper class. Even though he does not know the identity of his angel he resolves to meet his angel once again in order to win their affection as well as their hand in marriage.
While this was happening, Souji decided to tell his father that he had found a potential suitor that he has fallen in love with despite their brief encounter. In the end he decided to knock on his father’s door and ask permission to discuss matters with him when his father bids him entry into his office; He says,” father I have found a potential suitor that I have fallen in love with at first sight despite only seeing him briefly while out on a stroll. I do not know his name but he is a mysterious dark haired dashing man with enchanting deep violet eyes.” When Isami heard this he leaped for joy and said,” Then my son you must discover who he is and get to know this mysterious dark haired man if he is truly the one you want to be your suitor. But, remember our deal, he must not know what you are or that you are the heir of one of Kyoto’s most powerful families.”
At the same time this was happening Hijikata was having a similar discussion with his own father who was just as excited and said, “ Truly, my son you have found yourself a potential consort?” He then replied,” Yes, father I have and he is truly beautiful just like an angel and has no equal.” He said this while wistfully thinking of said angel. When his father saw his son’s wistful expression he smiled and shook his head while pushing his son out of his office in order for him to find his brown haired angel.
One thought though has not crossed Kazama and Isami’s minds and that is the possibility of their sons falling in love with each other after hearing both of them talk about each other as if they were love struck. EIther way both fathers shook their heads of this preposterous idea and went back to work. Later that same day in the evening their sons went back to the meadow where they first saw each other and slowly walked to one another in order to finally introduce themselves to the other. When they finally started to each other both Hijikata and Souji where too nervous to speak so they just stared at each other while trying to figure out what to say and where to start.
Surprisingly, though it was Souji who made the first move and his first move was to say, “ Good evening, my name is Souji and I know we have just met but it feels as if I am drawn to you and I want to get to know you. If this is agreeable with you of course.” he stammers out. When Hijikata hears this his heart soars and he replies with a slight pitch to his voice, “ Yes, I would love to get to know you as well for I have been feeling the same way about you and I must admit that I have fallen in love with you at first sight, My name is Hijikata it is a pleasure to meet you my angel. “ As their meeting was coming to a close Hijikata asked,” Can we meet again the following evening here so I can get to know you my angel?” Souji replied, “ Yes, I love to meet you again so until night falls again I will meet you again Hijikata my violet eyed devil.”
Chapter 4: Rendezvous
Hijikata and Souji after their first introduction with each other began meeting every evening thereafter and eventually their love for each other grew. They developed a bond with each other that was strong to the point that Hijikata told Souji who he was and about his family. Despite this, Souji knew he cannot reveal everything right away so he told his violet eyed devil that he came from a powerful family as well and that was all he told him. This continued for a continued for months until Souji felt it was the right time to reveal his true identity and what he was to his violet eyed devil. While, Hijikata himself began thinking of a way t0 ask his angel if he would marry him. During the height of summer when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and the moon’s gentle light shone through the trees as if a spell was cast that made the forest look as if it were enchanted.
That night Souji said, “ My love I have something I need to tell you for I did not know if the time was right but here it is I am the heir to the Toshizou clan and a hermaphrodite” When Hijikata heard this he just ignored what he said about being the heir of the Toshizou clan and just was shocked at the fact that his love was a hermaphrodite and able to bear his children. This made his angel even more amazing in his eyes. Hijikata replied, “ I do not care about what family you are the heir to for all that matters is that you are my angel and the one I love. Yes, we are from two powerful clans but that does not matter because we love each other for who we are. I also wish to ask you if you would be my consort and be forever mine for I cannot imagine my life without you, my angel.”
When Souji heard this he jumped on his love and kissed him deeply and said, “ Yes, I love you and would be honored to be yours forever.” After he said this Hijikata slid a beautiful delicate ring onto his finger and hugged his angel to him and said, “ Let us go to your father so that I may ask his permission to marry you.” WIthout further prompting Souji took his love’s hand and dragged him to his clan’s compound where he summoned a servant and told them to get his father and have him meet us within his office. Once the servant left to do as requested, Souji led his love through the compound’s winding corridors and down to his father’s elaborately decorated office where his sword was on display and at arms reach.
As soon as Isami arrived he finally saw the man who had earned his son’s affections and was shocked by him. When he finally snapped out of his daze he asked, “ My son is this the suitor you have chosen?” His son replied, “ Yes father he is the one I have chosen. He cares not for my identity but is happy that I am willing to accept him for who he is and he accepts me for who I am as well.” Once Isami heard this he was relieved and proud of the fact that his son had found someone who was worthy of his attention; and so Isami went up to the couple and hugged his son tightly as well as to tell his son’s suitor, “ I grant you permission to court my son and marry him.” Souji was beyond happy to hear his father say this and hugged his betrothed tightly as well as kissed him sweetly.
Chapter 5: Acceptance
Once they were done meeting with Isami they then went to see Kazama at the Chikage clan compound. When they got there Souji noticed that the chikage clan’s compound gave off an air of strength and power. While Souji was looking around him, his love was requesting a servant to get his father to meet him in his office to introduce his angel to him. After his task was done he took Souji to his father’s office where they met his father who after receiving his message came to see his son. Hijikata, at this point said, Father I would like to meet my angel Souji who is the heir of the Toshizou clan and a hermaphrodite.
When Kazama heard this he was shocked but one thought ran through his head and it was the Toshizou clan has an heir who is literally a hermaphrodite and is able to bear children! This was a shocking revelation but a welcomed one. Kazama then replied, “ It is a pleasure to meet my son’s soon to be wife. I welcome you, my daughter in law. I give you my blessing, my son.” Hijikata was excited and said, “ Thank you father for giving you your blessing but what are we going to do about announcing my engagement to the Toshizou clan’s heir to the elite of Kyoto?” His father replied,” I will get together with your fiance’s father and we will come up with a plan. In the meantime you take care of your fiance and just enjoy the fact you are getting married soon.”
As soon as their discussion ended Hijikata took his angel to his quarters so that he may lavish attention upon his angel’s beautiful body and make love to him in celebration of their union. Souji thought this was heaven and may he never wake up from this sinful dream. He truly loved his violet eyed devil and wanted to just as eagerly worship his love’s body with attention; So, both of them slowly stripped down to their bare skin and slowly came together in a tangle of limbs while, kissing each other passionately and climaxing beautifully while the room glowed a soft warm color. Their love making continued into the morning and by then they were exhausted but still unsatisfied and decided that morning to have another round of love making while in Hijikata’s bathing chambers. Little did they know though that their love making would cause a miracle to happen that would change their lives forever.
Later that day, Kazama and Isami were having a discussion about their son’s engagement and how they would announce it as well as whether or not they would have another heir for their families. This was not so easily done though but in the end they decided to talk to their sons together while they were still in the Chikage clan compound enjoying each other’s company. When the two fathers got to where their sons were sleeping they opened the door and walked in. Of course what greeted them however was clothes thrown all over the floor and their sons naked bodies covered by silk sheets as well as them being enthralled in each other’s embrace.
This scene caused both fathers to turn around and start coughing dramatically which of course made their sons wake up still dazed from their slumber. Once the two lovers woke up they noticed that their fathers were staring at them with their mouths agape. This caused them to turn red and scramble to grab their clothes. Once they were dressed they said in unison, “ Good morning father what are you doing here?” in a rather shaky tone. Their fathers just looked at each other with a comical look as if saying what do you think we are doing here. They then replied, “ we are here to talk to you about our plan and to tell you we do not ever want to see you two naked again or smell your love making in the room again.” The two fathers said with a straight face.
Chapter 6: Announcement
The day came when they would announce their engagement. The plan Kazama and Isami came up with was elaborate and complex. Their plan was that the two clans would throw an elaborate party where all the elite within Kyoto would gather at the Toshizou estate under the guise of it being a party to celebrate the beginning of fall when in reality it is a party to celebrate the union of the two heirs to the two most powerful families in Kyoto. The two lovers played their part and were more than willing to do it if not to see the dejected faces of their suitors and fangirls which was an amusing sight to both of them and made them laugh to no end and even their fathers were amused as well. This of course did not go unnoticed by some of the elite and some of such as the Yamazaki were laughing as well and even the aizo were enjoying the sight as well. Their plan succeeded and the two lovers were able to finally be together as a couple in public.
Later after the party at the Toshizou clan compound Souji got violently sick and had a severe dizzy spell that led him to collapse as well as led him to have a high fever. This in turn caused both Isami and Hijikata to panic and immediately force Kazama to sigh and shake his head at his son and his in law’s panicking while he calmly called for a doctor to perform an exam on his future daughter in law who was in his room in bed with a servant looking after him and cooling him down with ice packs as well as fluids. When the doctor arrived Hijikata, Isami, and Kazama went to Souji’s bed chambers where he was resting.
Once they got there Hijikata told the servant she was dismissed. As soon as his task was done he went over and asked, “ What is wrong with my betrothed? Why is he so sick?” When doctor Matsumoto heard this he replied, “ Your betrothed is fine, it's just a severe case of morning sickness combined with exhaustion.” When Hijikata heard the doctor’s reply he was surprised and too stunned to say anything else while, both Kazama and Isami were both happy and shocked as well as wondering what they can do to care for Souji over the next ten months.
Isami at that point after hearing the news that his son is pregnant he asked, “ How do we care for my son while he is pregnant and is there anything we can do to help him through his morning sickness as well as his exhaustion?” Doctor Matsumoto responded with a cursory look and replied, “ I am ordering you to make him stay in bed for the next seven days as well as make sure that he is not stressed and also in order to lower his fever make sure he drinks lots of fluids and take prenatal vitamins that I will provide you with also he is not to be given anything with too much salt but until he is fully recover only feed him broth. Finally, just make sure he is not on his feet too much. “
As soon as the doctor was done giving his instructions the three men then bid the doctor a good evening and thanked him for his services after getting Souji’s medicine for him. Afterwards both Kazama and Isami left to take care of some matters as well as to tell their servants who would be in charge of looking after Souji while he was on bed rest. Once they left Hijikata sat next to his angel’s bed and waited for him to wake up so he could hug him and tell him that he is pregnant. When Souji woke up Hijikata immediately hugged him and said, “ My love the doctor just examined you and he said you are pregnant as well as that you are on a bed rest until your fever breaks.”
When Souji heard this he was happy and tried to get out of bed so he could properly hug his lover but his violet eyed devil just grabbed him and pushed him down to make him lie down again. As soon as he was lying down again he immediately whined and said, “ But I want to get up and hug you. I’m happy to be having your child. Please just let me get up for a bit.” When Hijikata heard this he shook his head no and scowled at his angel saying, “ No, you must rest and regain your strength. You have a high fever; You have to take it easy and focus on your health.” After saying this he kissed his angel on his forehead and put another ice pack on his head to help lower his fever.
Souji just sighed and started coughing a bit which made his lover frown and pull the covers on his bed a bit tighter around him to force him to go to sleep until dinner. Once he was asleep Hijikata took one last look and quietly left his angel to his rest. After Hijikata left Souji slept peacefully even though he would start wheezing due to his fever but a few moments later his father came to check on him when he came to check on him. His father ran over to him when he noticed that he was sweating a lot and immediately put a new ice pack on his head and lifted his head to give him some cold water.
Afterwards, he summoned a servant and told them to bring some fresh ice packs as well as some more cold water. Once he was done he asked his son, “ How are you feeling?” Souji just sat up slightly so he could breathe and replied wheezing, “ I still feel ill but it will pass. I just want to rest a bit longer. I’m sorry I cannot talk more with you father but I am beginning to feel sleepy.” His father replied, “ Sleep my son I understand you need your rest after all. I will leave and ask your husband to bring you some broth to drink if you are up to it. “ Souji just nodded at his father and drifted back to sleep for a few hours. Once he was asleep he ordered the servants outside his room to make sure his son was not disturbed while he was resting.
A few hours had passed when suddenly a voice sounded through the sliding door of Souji’s room. When he heard the voice he was pleasantly surprised to see his father in law Kazama who brought him some broth as well as a cup of herbal tea to help relax him and calm his stomach. So, as Kazama came into the room he decided to attempt to sit up despite being too weak to do it without assistance but when he did manage it he threw on his light brown haori in order for him to stay warm.
Once his father in law saw that he was sitting up properly he brought over a tray that had his broth and tea on it for him to eat. While he was eating his father in law said, “ I am happy that the both of you will be making me a grandfather soon. It was rather shocking when you collapsed but I am pleased that you seem like you are feeling a bit better.” When Souji heard this he smiled a bit and with a bit of a breathy tone he replied, “ Thank you father. I do feel a bit better but at the same time I still feel weak from vomiting as well as my fever. But, after drinking this broth I feel warmed up and this tea is making my stomach calm down to the point that I feel that I can finally sleep.”
Kazama heard this and smiled gently and just patted his son in law on the shoulder. He then gently helped his son in law lie down again and then he put another ice pack on his head. Once he was done he quietly stood up and picked up the tray and empty cup and then just walked out of the room while silently closing the sliding door behind him.
Chapter 7: Preparation
When Kazama gave the servant that was nearby the tray he was holding and told the servant to bring the tray to the kitchens. Afterwards, he decided to go to the inner gardens to clear his mind a bit. When he got there he saw his son and walked over to him while asking, “ My son, what are you doing out here and why aren’t you tending to your wife?” Hijikata replied, “ I wanted to stretch my legs for a bit since my wife is still resting after his most round of nausea. “
His father seemed satisfied with his answer and replied, “ Just be there for him and be patient for that is the best thing you can do right now for him.” Hijikata nodded and bowed to his father before he went back to his angel to take care of him. After their meeting HIjikata spent hours each day with his angel helping him through his nausea and also feeding him his food which he stubbornly did not want his angel feeding himself. This of course annoyed his angel greatly but his angel allowed him to do it knowing it was his way of showing affection.
This went on for four days until the time came for Souji to have another exam but this time it was with his family’s doctor who was a short but well known doctor who studied under Doctor Matsumoto who was considered a genius. DOctor Yamazaki on the other hand came from a clan of doctors that were the best in all of Japan; He was the youngest doctor to be made head of the Toshizou clan’s medical needs. As soon as the young doctor got to the Toshizou estate he went straight to his patient who he has been in charge of since his patient was a child but this was something he never thought would ever happen.
Once he came to his patient’s room he opened the door and greeted his patient’s husband and then he asked,” Souji I heard you were Pregnant and had a severe case of morning sickness as well as exhaustion. I am here to check up on you and examine both you and your unborn child.” He agreed to be examined if only to find out when he would be allowed out of bed finally. When doctor Yamazaki was done examining him he said with a pleased look,” Both him and your unborn child are well and his fever has gone down significantly. But, I am still going to require that you keep him in bed still for at least three more days until his fever breaks. Also, I am going to order you to make sure that he does not do any heavy lifting as well as rest for at least two hours during the day once he is off bed rest.” The doctor said.
-Time Skip 4 day later
Four days had passed since Souji had been examined by his clan’s doctor and finally he was allowed to get out of bed but he was still limited to being on his feet for only two hours at a time. He of course complained about how much coddling his husband and his two fathers were doing when it comes to him. But, no matter how much he complained he still loved the attention his husband gave him.
The first day he got out of bed he immediately decided to go to the garden to just get some fresh air. He loved being back outside of course though while he was outside his father and his husband both watched him like a hawk due to the fact his doctor ordered them to make sure he wasn’t on his feet for too long. His husband Hijikata snuck up from behind him while he was outside and asked, “ how are you feeling?” he replied back, “ I am feeling fine; I am just happy I can finally stretch my legs.” he said.
Hijikata was pleased to hear this. He still decided to ensure that his wife was well looked after. So, to that end he decided to have one of his male servants that he trusted stay with his wife and help him with anything he may need. The servant he assigned to help him look after his wife was named Saito who was extremely well mannered and calm. After he decided to have Saito watch over his wife for him when he needs to take care of his duties as heir to his clan.
So, he decided to call Saito to his office to tell him of his assignment. When Saito came to his lord’s office he knocked and said, “ My lord I have come as you’ve requested.” He replied , “ You may enter.” Once Saito had permission to enter he came in and sat down as well as greeted his master. Hijikata then said,” Saito, I am reassigning you to act as my wife’s personal servant and help look after him during his pregnancy. I have been ordered by my wife’s doctor to ensure he has someone with him at all times just in case he needs assistance with getting around or with heavy lifting.” Saito was shocked when he heard his master’s orders for him, which to him was a great honor to be allowed to be the personal servant to his master’s wife. Saito replied, “It would be an honor to be your wife’s personal servant. I will take the utmost care of him my lord.” Hijikata was pleased when he said this and replied back, “ Thank you. I am counting on you to assist me in looking after my wife during this time. “
