“Good morning everyone, welcome back to Idol Radio! I’m your host for this week, Lumine, and today we are joined by DCKZ, the band taking the world by storm!”
Laughter and cheers fill the brightly lit recording studio, Diluc, Childe, Kaeya, and Zhongli waving at the various cameras around the room. After a few moments of Childe and Kaeya attempting to one-up each other by making ridiculous faces behind Lumine’s back, a stern look from Zhongli makes them settle down instantly as their host clears her throat to begin the segment.
“I’m sure that everyone knows you, but please introduce yourselves!”
In unison, the four men grin brightly and bow their heads, snapping their fingers twice. “Hello, we are-”
“D~” Diluc hums, voice low and steady. His bright scarlet hair is pulled into a high ponytail at the back of his head, accentuated by the simple designer sweater and loosely ripped jeans he sports.
“C~” Childe joins in, harmonizing a pitch higher, adjusting his headphones as he tilts his head toward his microphone. The ginger dons sharply creased slacks and a deep navy silk bomber jacket, the same designer brand as Diluc’s sweater.
“K~” Kaeya adds a mellow, sweet tone beneath his bandmates’ voices. The blue-haired idol is dressed in a loose button up, exposing the planes of his chest and a few stylish silver chains resting along his collarbone.
“Z~~!” Zhongli finishes with a beautiful run of notes, showing off the range of his richly hued tenor. As usual, the brunette is the picture of grace and elegance in a tailored blazer and jeans, simple golden jewelry accentuating his eyes. “Good day everyone, I am Zhongli, the leader of DCKZ.”
“Hi everyone! It’s Kaeya, the handsomest in DCKZ.”
Childe snorts. “Hey! I’m Childe, the youngest and probably your favorite!”
Diluc sighs, shaking his head at the ginger. “Hello, I’m Diluc, the all-rounder of DCKZ.”
Lumine nods, glancing at the script in front of her before turning back to the other idols with a friendly smile. “Thank you all! Unfortunately, we only have an hour with you gentlemen, so we’re going to start off with a quick game to help our listeners and viewers get to know you better. This game will also test how well you all know each other. I’m under the impression that you have been friends throughout your trainee and predebut stages as well, so hopefully this should be easy for you guys.”
“Yes, we have known each other for quite a while now. Almost six years now, I believe?” Zhongli answers, glancing at his members. “I certainly hope that our audience will learn something new about us.”
Lumine grins. “Okay, the way the game works is that I’ll ask a question and on the count of three, you will yell out the name of the bandmate you think is the correct answer. Let’s see if DCKZ is on the same wavelength!”
The idols cheer and clap again as a brief transition jingle plays in the background and Lumine is handed a stack of cards. The blonde woman flips over the first one, smirking at its contents. “Starting off easy, who is the shortest?”
Diluc frowns immediately, crossing his arms as Kaeya and Childe laugh, Zhongli chuckling slightly at the question.
“One, two three!” Lumine counts.
“Diluc!” Three of the four members respond with varying degrees of amusement.
“Childe.” Diluc deadpans, arms crossed.
Lumine laughs good-naturedly, flipping over the next card. “Maybe you’ll have better luck with this one, Diluc. Who snores the most in the dorm? One, two, three!”
“Zhongli!” All four members answer, the brunette in question admitting his guilt with a tiny smile.
“Let’s keep the questions moving quick! What’s Kaeya’s worst habit? One, two, three!”
“Wearing shirts that barely qualify as shirts!” Childe yells.
“Not doing his laundry,” Diluc and Zhongli both shudder at the thought. The navy-haired visual turns to his bandmates to protest but is cut off by Lumine.
“You can argue later! I think this is a difficult one, but who has the most expensive taste? One, two, three!’’
Kaeya and Childe both answer Zhongli, but Diluc and Zhongli answer Kaeya. The four men stare amongst themselves, looking betrayed at the clear division. Lumine pays them no attention and keeps flipping cards.
“Ooh, who has the best breath control? One, two, three!”
“Childe,” all four members answer, smirking.
“Really? That’s unexpected since he’s a rapper,” Lumine muses.
“No comment!” Childe grins, winking at the cameras.
“Okay then, moving on, what is Diluc’s favorite sponsorship deal that the group has done? One, two, three!”
“Angel’s Grape Juice!” All the members answer without hesitation. The answer to this question is pretty commonly known amongst their fans as well.
“What is Childe’s full name? One, two three!”
“Ajax Childe Tartaglia Astankova!” The four idols answer, stumbling over the unfamiliar pronunciations.
“Who looks the best in suits? One, two, three!”
“Zhongli!” Shouts Childe.
“I’d say Diluc,” Zhongli answers thoughtfully.
“No way, it’s Kaeya!” Diluc protests.
The navy-haired visual grins charmingly. “I vote for myself too!”
Childe pretends to pout, being the only member that didn’t receive a vote for this question. Lumine tries to stifle her laughter. It’s hard to believe that all of the DCKZ members are older than her at times like this.
“Final few!” She announces. “How does Kaeya take his coffee? One, two, three!”
“Black with a splash of creamer,” all of the members recite the order dutifully.
“Who’s the most flexible in the group? One, two, three!”
“Zhongli!”
“He can do the splits too, it’s crazy!” Childe adds.
“Who’s Diluc’s favorite member, one, two, three!”
“Me!” Kaeya and Childe both yell.
“Zhongli,” Diluc and Zhongli both answer, looking amused at the crestfallen faces of the other two.
Lumine is barely able to contain her laughter anymore. “Last question! Who would be most likely to survive the apocalypse? One, two, three!”
“None of us,” all four men deadpan in unison, looking startled at the synchrony of their answers.
“Woahh, friendship telepathy is cool,” Lumine giggles as the idols high-five, slightly incredulous from the last question. “Let’s take a break to listen to DCKZ’s new single, Balcony Views! Let your ears be blessed by their unique take on an upbeat, jazzy-hip hop tune. We’ll be right back with more DCKZ in a few!”
