Chapter 1: The Calling

Chapter Text

Jung Hoseok was a simple man.

He had a normal job, a normal life and he wanted to keep it that way.

The world had gone mad four years ago, when Vampires decided to 'come out of the coffin' something along the lines of 'we've been around for centuries and we want integration and be part of society' bullshit being spread but Hoseok cared for none of that. No, he wanted nothing more than to live a peaceful and quiet life. He had had his share of fucked up trauma episodes for a lifetime, now he only wanted to be Jung Hoseok, dance teacher at the small academy for children and live life one day at the time, that was good enough for him.

So obviously when friday evening came and he was ready to close the school, the last thing he wanted was to be surprised by his long time ex-friend Min Yoongi.

Yoongi hadn't change, at all. Which wasn't that surprising being a vampire kind of had that effect. Hoseok closed his bag, threw it over his shoulder and turned the lights off.

"So we're going to ignore the big pink elephant in the room?" Yoongi's voice was exactly as he remembered, dark, raspy, enticing. There had been a time when this voice would had been enough to make his heartbeat race, bring a flush to his cheeks...that time was long gone together with every bit of love Hoseok had had for the shorter male.

"What the fuck are you doing here? Thought we had a deal."

"Chill." Yoongi ignored the other's outburst simply raising an eyebrow closing the distance between them with two steps and coming to stand directly in front of the other. If Hoseok was surprised by this he didn't show. He huffed, crossed his arms over the chest and started to tap his feet, a clear sign of annoyance. "We need to talk."

"We don't need to do fucking nothing! We're done Min Yoongi, you're out of my life and I care nothing for your problems or any blood sucker's for that matter. You promised to leave me alone!" The dancer was livid, it had took two years to rebuild his life, to go back to some kind of normal existance and to try to forget everything that had happened and here was the beast responsible for every piece of shit that had happened to him, talking like they had just finished drinking tea.

"I understand you want nothing to do with me"

"Damn right!" Hoseok cut, walking past the vampire reaching for the door. "So go back to where the hell you came from and never come back!"

"I wish I could Hoba" Yoongi using his nickname did something to his heart, he felt longing for something, some type of feeling long forgotten. "But it involves Jimin, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't important." At the mention of his little brother's name Hoseok turned back, his face white and the hand on the doorknob trembling.

"What do you mean? Where's Minnie? What did you do to him? Oh my God, you...you didn't..."

"I did nothing to him, you know I would die for him." The vampire's expression was of sadness, a hint for hurt crossing his eyes before they quicly went back to impassiveness.

"Fancy words, still remember how you once pretended to like me so you could get to my brother." Hoseok hissed, venom cutting through air and making the vampire throw him a sad look. He hated that look, that pity that Yoongi always seemed to have reserved for him. It hurt more than he would like to admit.

"I didn't pretent you know that."

"Cut the crap, where is my brother?"

"That's why I'm here, Jimin was taken last night."

"What do you mean taken?" His mind was flipping, his heartbeat increased and sweat started to form on the back of his neck.

"Two nights ago he said he felt someone was following him home, it wasn't human but we couldn't figure out what it was. I thought my bite mark would be enough advise for anyone not to mess with him but..."

"Clearly it wasn't." Hoseok was fuming, he always thought something like this would happen. Yoongi didn't seem to have enemies piling up by the doorstep but he was still a creature of the night and Jimin...Jimin was pure, he had a light that many wanted to capture and own." What can I do?"

"There's a gathering this evening between species. It's important, you know how badly some factions want to enlist in chaos and disorder, tonight's meeting is supposed to bring some sort of truce between us, werewolfs and witches...I fear someone is trying to fuck it up."

"And why would they kidnap Minnie? He's neither of those." He didn't understand, sure he and his brother had some sort of special capacities but they had always been careful to hide it and they didn't interfere with supernatural beings, he had made Jimin swear before they went separate ways.

"Because we're getting married in a week." Yoongi was now looking directly at him, maybe waiting for Hoseok to laugh at him, slap him, punch him, do something...but the only think he did was turn his back and hide the single tear that crossed his cheek. "Hoseok I need you to come tonight and listen. That's all, I promise."

"Your promises don't count for much," he stared back again, his face hard and eyes dark. "I would never leave my brother in danger, I'm doing this for him not you."

"I know." The vampire's hand was in front of him, waiting. "It'll be faster this way." And that was enough for Hoseok to drop his bag and grab the cold white hand. He felt Yoongi's arm circle his waist, pull him closer to his body and in a blink of an eye they were gone.
