There was a scary story that spread throughout the branches of the Gusu Lan mafia. About a ghost that appeared every night in the main family’s home. Even the servants and underlings who lived there confirmed this story. It could be heard in the west wing mainly, where the family’s second young master resided. The ghost could be heard yelling for someone to “ Stop! ” again and again and making other sounds in the middle of the night, every night. No one ever checked if this ghost existed, even when its wailing at night seemed to affect their second young master’s sleep.
If you knew any better, you’d know that it wasn’t a ghost cursing the entire Lan family. You’d know that it was not a ghost but something else.
Lan Qiren knew he should move his room up to the second floor where his father and older brother roomed in. But he also knew that Wen Ruohan would still find a way to get into his room regardless of where he slept in. These nightly meet-ups where they rendezvoused inside his room, this was the only time where they could meet despite their busy schedules. His family forbids him to lie, so he would never lie about his anticipation whenever he waited for his lover to sneak in through his window. He would, however, refuse to speak about it. After all, refusing to speak wasn’t lying.
“Get off, get off.” the man in his sleeping clothes said, pulling away from the kiss he had been greeted with. “We can’t do it today. I told you that yesterday, didn’t I?”
The heir to the Wen mafia chuckled and pressed a soft kiss on his forehead. “Yes, yes.” he said. “But can’t I just greet my beloved with a kiss?”
“A kiss, you say?” scoffed Lan Qiren. “Knowing you, that kiss is going to end up to be something more.”
“Would you like it to be something more, then?” Wen Ruohan cheekily asked, wiggling his eyebrows.”
“You shameless-” His words were cut off when Wen Ruohan suddenly kissed him again. “What are you- Mmph!”
“We can’t alert the night guards now, can’t we?” said the other male as he pinned his beloved down on the bed. “You know, I’ve never told you about this but I really like it when you wear that silk white robe you always wear before bed. I pin you down on the bed like this and it just looks like a wedding dress when it spreads underneath you.”
“We cannot.” Lan Qiren immediately responded, grabbing Wen Ruohan’s shoulders. “You know we cannot marry. Our families-”
“I know.” said the other. “But, one day, I will create a world where neither of us have to hide what we feel. Until that day, we can only indulge ourselves in moments like this, away from prying eyes.” Wen Ruohan pressed soft kisses to his lover’s ears then said, “Have I ever told you how beautiful you look when you’re bright red like this?” He rolled over to his side beside Lan Qiren and pulled him into a tight hug.
“Sleeping only, okay?” the man in white grumbled. “Nothing else.”
“Of course.” Wen Ruohan replied. “It’s way past your bedtime already, now go to bed. I’ll still be here when you wake up, okay?”
That night, the underlings and servants who roamed around in the Lan manor all claimed that the ghost that roamed around the halls of the west wing was thankfully quiet...
