Work Text:
Now, they have been married for several years now. Since they are teachers, it is more understandable that the students don’t catch onto the fact that they are married (though usually, most of Aizawa’s students don’t stay in his class for long). But the teachers and staff? Especially when they are heroes? How do they not notice that Mic and Aizawa were married. The two weren’t even trying to hide it. The only one that knew was Nedzu, but he was also a super smart, his quirk made him that smart. Other than Nedzu, no one else has ever noticed the two were dating, let alone married, and they have worked at UA for years at this point. The first person to actually find out was Midoriya.
--
By the end of the second day, Aizawa could already tell that the problem child was observant. Mic and Aizawa have never been confronted about the two of them being married, but with Midoriya now a student, there was someone that actually noticed their interactions and the rings the two wore. He had easily been able to tell that something was going on between the two men, but didn’t know exactly what it was. He was assuming the two were married. His suspicions were later confirmed after the USJ incident.
--
“Ah, Mic-Sensei!” Midoriya ran up to him.
“Hm? Oh! Hey there little listener! What’s up?” The teacher responded as enthusiastically as he could. He had been stressed for the past few days with Shouta being in the hospital, but he had to make sure everyone else thought things were okay.
“Ah, I was just wondering, how is Aizawa-Sensei doing? I mean, I think you two are married, so I just thought you would be aware of the status of him if you were, so I wanted to check in how he was doing, and I’m rambling now, sorry sensei.” Midoriya rambled.
Hizashi and Shouta had already talked about how it was very much possible that the green-haired kid knew about them, but it was good for confirmation to know that the kid did know their relationship from his observations. At least there was someone in this school that had more than one brain cell and could see what was blatantly obvious right in front of them.
“Hah! Yeah, you got it spot on kid, we are married. And Shouta has been doing better, thanks for the concern kid!” The man grinned.
“Oh! That’s great! And how are you doing as well? It must’ve been hard with him being hurt like that. It was hard on us, it must be especially hard on you too seeing you two are married.” Midoriya was really glad that he got his assumption correctly. He doesn’t know what he would’ve done if he got their relationship wrong.
Hizashi was surprised at the kid’s worry for him as well, but laughed. “Oh, yeah, it has been tough, but I know he will turn out better so I’m dealing with it. It’s nothing I can’t handle!”
“That’s good! I have to run to lunch now if I don’t want to stand in line too long, bye Mic-Sensei!” Midoriya runs off towards the cafeteria. Hizashi waves back at the kid and grins to himself.
--
Now despite Midoriya knowing the two are married, he doesn’t know that anyone else knows. For him, it’s obvious that the two are married, there is nothing subtle about their relationship. And though he thought that maybe the students didn’t know, then at least the teachers would, they are pro-heroes after all and work with the two on a daily basis.
Spoiler: The teachers don’t know.
--
The door to the teacher’s room slides open as Midoriya walks through it. “Mic-Sensei, I have the English assignment you gave us!” He exclaims as he walks through the door. Shouta and Hizashi were sitting next to each other at the desks, doing something on their computers. The above ground hero turns towards him. While Midoriya walks over to the pro-hero, he overheard Vlad King say, “Hizashi and Aizawa are really good friends aren’t they? The two have known each other for so long now.”
That made Midoriya stop in his tracks right as he reached the married couple. He looked around the room and found where Vlad King was sitting. He stared and narrowed his eyes at the man in pure confusion. He turned back around to the married couple to just see them resigned for their fate. Aizawa was looking up to the ceiling as if saying ‘God help us’
“They-They don’t know??” Midoriya asked the two heroes. He was pointing towards Vlad and the general area where some other heroes sat.
“We aren’t even trying to hide it. They are just complete idiots.” Aizawa responded to his question.
“But?? What?” The poor kid was still utterly confused. He could kind of understand the student body not knowing the two were married, but their own co-workers? Other pro-heroes, that should be smart enough to understand the obvious tells the couple gave off. Like his teacher said, they weren’t even trying to hide it!
“Yeah kid, we know,” Hizashi pat Midoriya’s head, “Welcome to the ‘I have more than one (1) brain cell’ club.”
“Nedzu is the only other member.” Shouta nodded along. Midoriya continued to look stunned and handed the assignment to his English teacher and walked away.
--
While walking down one of the corridors, Nedzu finds him and hands him a members badge. He wonders if this counted towards extra-curriculars.
He found out it was.
--
By the time it's getting close to the final exams, Midoriya has given up hope on his classmates not noticing that their homeroom and English teacher were married. He can only hope for when they become heroes, they finally have some awareness of things that are right in front of them, otherwise they aren’t going to do well in hero work.
Though, all the teachers (excluding Aizawa, Mic, and Nedzu) aren’t aware when it was so obvious.
--
Once the dorms are set up, still no one notices that the two are married. You would think the students would be able to tell, especially when they are actually living with the teachers. Aizawa and Mic were even living together and shared an apartment and owned two cats .
Midoriya lasted a week before the Aizawa and Mic found him on their couch, sobbing into Ariel’s ginger fur, Oreo sitting next to him on the couch, about how stupid his friends were. He started ranting about how stupid can his classmates and UA in general are once he noticed the two. The couple just nodded along and shared their own experiences of their co-workers' idiocy.
At one point, Nedzu joined their discussion and the four of them decked out in blankets and drank hot chocolate while ranting.
The started to meet up every other week to continue to rant about how stupid the people around them are.
--
After the license exams, rumors started to go around regarding Shouta’s love life in the school. Someone even managed to convince (though Midoriya suspects it was Todoroki) three quarters of the school that he was the child of the secretly married couple of Aizawa and Ms.Joke.
After Midoriya first heard that, he choked at the absurd idea of that and quickly ran off to the staff room to tell the news of the rumor. He burst into the room and quickly located Shota and Hizashi before running over to them. He practically collapses into the chair next to Shouta in laughter as he tries to explain what's happening. The married heroes quickly join in his laughter after deciphering what the kid was saying.
Later, the three cringe at the news they get from Nedzu about how Midnight and several of the other 1-A students who don’t already believe the rumor are determined to set their homeroom teacher up with Ms. Joke.
--
After the two adopt Eri, the three adults and kid have given up on others noticing that the two heroes were in fact married. A notable line from one of their rants from Hizashi was “We literally have a child together!”
Even Eri, the little girl who was 6, knew about their relationship. Hell, she even called Shouta dad and Hizashi papa right in front of other people! It was a mystery as to how no one else had figured out they were married, despite all the obvious signs, including having a child together. It was hopeless at this point. They could only wish the people best of luck in the future.
