Chapter Text
Yoongi, the eldest, was born in the middle of a storm.
Seokjin remembers hearing peals of thunders accompanying the contractions as he laid in the labour room, clutching onto his husband's hand for dear life.
It was suddenly silent, save for the sound of rain outside. And then, the cries of a newborn. Seokjin sobbed as Namjoon gently laid the squirming bundle into his waiting arms.
"Welcome to the world, Yoongi," Namjoon whispered, kissing the top of his son's head. Seokjin smiled, blissful.
"My little rain baby," he cooed, running a finger over soft baby skin, holding the infant close as he yawned, wriggling in his blanket, falling asleep in the warmth of his parents' embrace.
Seokjin had just finished feeding Yoongi, burping the baby before laying him back on the bed. The house was quiet, as Seokjin watched his baby sleep, tiny chest rising and falling rapidly.
And he felt this wave of affection for the small being. Not that he didn't love his baby before, its just that..it suddenly hits him just how much he loves Yoongi. How willing he is to do anything to protect his son from harm. With that, he leaned down to kiss Yoongi on his head, breathing in the scent of baby powder and milk, and whispered, "You are so loved, my darling. So loved."
In contrast with the storm accompanying Yoongi's birth, his younger brother's arrival was relatively mundane. If you ignored the fact that he arrived almost 2 weeks too early.
It wasn't expected, and thus the day had began like any other day. Namjoon swept out of the house after receiving kisses (sweet, from Seokjin, and a little bit too slobbery, from Yoongi). Seokjin had set Yoongi down in front of the tv with the baby channel on and his various plushies around him, before hurrying off to get his chores done before Yoongi starts to get fussy.
It was around 2 pm, and Seokjin was rocking Yoongi to sleep after a simple lunch of kimbap and yogurt. The 2 year old was just finally nodding off when Seokjin felt it, the telltale wetness seeping through his sweatpants. "Fuck."
After a frantic phone call with Namjoon, his husband promising to be home as soon as he can, Seokjin settled down on their couch, hospital bag already packed and placed by the front door. He took deep breathes while watching Yoongi sleepily mouth at Suga, his favourite cat plushie. He placed a hand over his stomach as he felt the first contraction.
"I can't wait to meet you, little one."
At the hospital, they had to separate Yoongi from Seokjin as they wheeled him into the labour room. His heart broke as he heard his baby's wails, hoping that Namjoon's parents would be able to comfort him.
All thoughts of Yoongi flew out the window the minute his contractions grew intense, and he had to focus on not passing out.
Finally, finally, he's holding a tiny human in his arms. The moment he saw Jeongguk, he knew this was the reason he willingly went through all the pain of bearing and giving birth to a child. This was it.
He smiled and kissed the baby before letting Namjoon fawn over his newborn, letting sleep take over him.
It hadn't been a good day for Yoongi so far. The toddler had woken up in a bad mood, then refused to let Namjoon hold him, shrieking for his Papa. Seokjin was forced to hold both sons in his arms, rolling his eyes at the look Namjoon was giving him.
"Joon-ah, i've got this. Just go, alright? And don't forget to bring back dinner," he smiled and gently bounces his sons, earning a delighted gurgle from Jeongguk and a grumpy whine from Yoongi. Namjoon grinned back and pulled Seokjin close, their sons pressed in between them.
After a dramatic farewell, with a rather unnecessary amount of flying kisses, Seokjin took one look at Yoongi's pout and decided he could spare a few hours for his sons.
And so thats how he ended up sprawled on the carpet, Jeongguk on his chest and Yoongi nestled against his side, both dead to the world. Jeongguk let out a sudden hiccup, and Seokjin wants to laugh at how endearing he found everything his sons did.
Seokjin hums as he gently cups the back of Jeongguk's head, his other hand moving to Yoongi's back. There was once a time while he was expecting his youngest, that he was worried he wouldn't have enough love for this new member of their family, having given everything to his first born. Now he realises how wrong he'd been. He knows now, that the heart could expand to fit more love. And he feels his heart expanding now, to make room for Jeongguk.
As Kim Seokjin cradled baby Jeongguk in his arms, Yoongi nestled against his side fast asleep, he found himself tearing up a little. He realised these years were fleeting, baby and toddler years. That in the blink of an eye, they would be grown men.
Seokjin vowed to treasure every moment he had with them.
