Chapter Text

This year All-Stars season 8, The Alliance wanted to do something special to thank their fans for the success of the 10th server opening. So they came up with a program named 'Meet the Idols'. As its name suggested, this event chose one lucky winner to meet with the 24 All-Stars pro players. Anyone who had Glory account could participate in the event, but only one ballot per ID card. The winner was chosen from pure randomizer. So the event relied heavily on your luck.

As for Chen Guo, even though she wanted to win so much, she knew that her luck wasn't one to be proud of. But she knew exactly where to find these 'lucky' people, Ye Xiu and Tang Rou! She had watched them playing Glory for a while, and had witnessed many times how these two always got very rare itemdrops. It would have been better if she won it herself, but if these two won instead, at least she still could ask them to get the signatures for her!

Little did she know, her plan was going to be the beginning of the talk of the town event...

"And now it's time for the event that everyone waiting for, meet the idols! Please welcome our lucky winner to the stage!"

The MC announced the next program as soon as the Rookies Challenge ended. Although they weren't the one who won, the audience still wanted to know who this lucky winner was. So they clapped their hands excitedly, immediately hyping the atmosphere in the stadium. On the other hand, the pro players merely clapped their hands for the sake of being polite. Most of them agreed that this event was a waste of their time. As if the All-Stars itself wasn't boring enough. For some god tier pros, they were even more annoyed, because this year Ye Qiu didn't participate in the event. Nevertheless, duty was duty. And they knew that advertising was a part of being a pro too. So they did their best to cooperate with The Alliance, even deep down they just wanted to go back to their hotel.

However, these pros enthusiasm soon increased skyrocket when they saw who 'the lucky winner' was.

The lucky winner was a man looked to be around mid-20s. He had a raven hair that contrasted with his pale skin. Under the stage bright light, his golden eyes seemed to illuminate like a shinning star. He wore a simple and plain cream sweater over white shirt with black skinny jeans and sneakers. Overall, he looked like an ordinary person you would walk pass by everyday.

"Hello! Please briefly introduce yourself for us to know who is our lucky winner!"

"...My name is Ye Xiu."

Ye Xiu truly wanted to cry. He didn't get it. What had he done in his life that deserved to be cursed by the All-Stars event. He thought that now he had retired, he wouldn't have to deal with it ever again. But then The Alliance had to come up with this stupid event. Of course, Chen Guo would want to join as she was the diehard fan. And how could he have a heart to reject Chen Guo pleading? He let her registering his name for the event, but he didn't know he would end up as the winner for real! Even until this exact moment, he still wasn't sure whether he was extremely lucky or unlucky....

"Hi Mr. Ye Xiu! You're very lucky to be the winner among hundred thousands of ballot! How do you feel now?"

"So-so."

Ye Xiu answered with an obvious lack of enthusiasm. His bitter expression only made the audience booed at him louder. Not like he cared about it, though.

"Er... Aren't you feeling a little bit excited?"

"Not at all."

The MC laughed nervously at the lucky winner dry enthusiasm. To prevent the atmosphere from getting more awkward, the MC quickly called up the first team to meet with the lucky winner.

Notes:

Truth be told, I'm not quite satisfied with this story. But I don't know what's it that I'm not satisfied with. Therefore I don't know where or how to fix it. At some point I even consider deleting it. Then again, I have already written it so it would be a waste to not post it. So here you go!
