Let Deku Have His Fucking Privacy Already!

Summary:

Midoriya Izuku was told that he would never get a quirk. He was told he could never be a hero. He was told he should find a nice, safe job and stay where heroes could easily save him from disaster. He didn’t anticipate the boy to get an analytical mind that could find the faults and potential in each and every move. He most certainly didn’t anticipate the boy being determined enough to be independently trained by an underground hero after he turned nine.

The doctor may have been wrong with most of the things he told the child, but he was right about one thing… No quirk ever came. He instead had to work hard to close the steadily widening gap between himself and his peers.

The boy stayed after school day after day, never telling any of his classmates why, but merely sitting there, without moving, until everyone filed out of the room. Many wondered just what it was that kept him from leaving with the rest of them. The dorms offer a chance for answers, with them being able to know exactly when Midoriya comes back and what he does, but it yields little to no information. What happens when a few well-meaning students decide to spy on their resident enigma?

Notes:

Don't know why the bloody hell I wrote this, but I love quirkless Midoriya, Dadzawa, and Protective Best Friend Katsuki. If you don't like it, fight me. I dare you.

This is a one-shot... for now. I may expand on it later on, but right now I have no other ideas for it.

There will be other stories in the series.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Midoriya Izuku was told that he would never get a quirk. He was told he could never be a hero. He was told he should find a nice, safe job and stay where heroes could easily save him from disaster. The doctor did not take into account Midoriya’s ironclad will, nor his boundless determination.

He reached UA with nothing but rescue points, having nearly killed himself in an effort to keep everyone from being crushed by the robots and falling debris. But he got the second highest score of all the exam takers, 76 points. Bakugou beat him by only one point.

The quirkless wonder stayed after school day after day, never telling any of his classmates why, but merely sitting there, without moving, until everyone filed out of the room. No one knew what he did in the time he stayed, but they all wondered. Several students asked, when the year first started, why Midoriya never left with the rest of them. The enigmatic student only gave them a small smile for an answer, every time. Soon, they grew tired of the boy brushing off their question and decided to take matters into their own hands.

Jirou was given the task of distraction. Midoriya was one of the best in the class academics wise, and so she enlisted both Midoriya and Aizawa’s help with a problem she was having difficulty with before she left for home. Yaoyorozu had produced a small, nearly invisible, camera she stuck to the wall as she walked out, her movements undetected by their quarry and their teacher. The plan was coming together nicely. Hagakure slipped out of the room first, her clothes quickly coming off and going into her bag, which she hastily shoved into Kaminari’s waiting hands and then rushed back into the room, her invisibility keeping her from being spotted. Todoroki, Bakugou, Uraraka, and Tsuyu quickly filed out of the room and went around the building to where they could reach the windows and watch from their vantage points, each one grateful for the cover of darkness.

Bakugou was the only one in the class, as far as he knew, that held the knowledge of Deku’s quirklessness. The damn nerd didn’t want people here to know about his fucking ‘disadvantage’, afraid it would make the pieces of shit treat him differently. His explosions propelled him up to where he could hang onto the ledge and look in, Uraraka erasing her gravity to follow right behind him. Todoroki and Tsuyu were a bit slower, with Todoroki having to grow ice and Tsuyu climbing the side of the building. They perched there, Todoroki widening his ice ledge so that they all had somewhere to stand, watching as Aizawa said something to Midoriya and the two left the room. They weren’t sure if Momo had managed to create enough screens to watch the class yet, nor if Jirou had connected and started broadcasting speech for the class yet, but Hagakure was quick to open the window and clue them in a bit.

“Everyone’s ready to watch, Aizawa just took Midoriya to get something to drink before they start. I don’t know what they’re starting, though.” She whispered quickly. “They should be back soon, though!” She whisper-yelled, then slammed the window shut, leaving Todoroki having to pry it open just enough for sound to escape the room. All four of them moved out of the window’s view when Aizawa and Midoriya first entered the room, choosing caution over being seen. They weren’t going to miss whatever was going on just because they were too rash and got caught. Tsuyu was the first to risk peeking inside, waving the others forward with her.

Aizawa’s voice made them all jump rather violently, it was different than when they heard him talk to them, warmer, friendlier. “You analysis’s have improved greatly, now lets see if you can finally beat me.” The majority of the class watched in rapt amazement as Aizawa challenged Midoriya without activating his quirk. None of them knew what Midoriya’s quirk was, they’d never seen him use it, but was it really easy enough to avoid that their teacher didn’t even feel the need to block it? Rapt amazement kept them all glued to the fight, teacher nor student trying to figure out if they were being watched or not. They danced around the desks, avoiding falling on them as they fought.

They watched in shock as Midoriya let out a small shout, and promptly judo flipped their teacher, pinning him down with an elbow to his throat. The green-haired boy was quick to rise to his feet and help his teacher up. The man raised an eyebrow at him. “Still feeling inept about not have a quirk to fight the others with?” He questioned.

“You know I accepted my fate years ago.” Midoriya protested, then deflated. “I’m just worried that their quirks will be enough to allow them to be able to leave me behind. I need to work three times as hard to keep up with them.”

“What does it matter? You’ll be the best damn underground hero the world’s ever not seen.” Aizawa smiled at the boy, Midoriya laughing at the joke.

“Thanks, Sensei. I guess since it’s getting close to that day it’s just hitting harder than usual.”

“That doctor was an idiot who deserves to get his license revoked. Whether or not a kid has a quirk or not does not dictate whether or not a kid can be a hero. You’ve proven that, haven’t you?” Aizawa’s voice was gruff, but warm. The class was shocked at how warm the man’s tone was. But the more pressing issue was, Why was their teacher insinuating that Midoriya had no quirk? Bakugou scowled at the pair, refusing to admit that the scene warmed his heart.

“Tch, damn nerd.” He muttered under his breath. If too much more was revealed, especially without Midoriya knowing he was revealing it, he’d blast through the window. Even Deku had a right to privacy.

“I need to thank you again for the code. My mom was looking through my things the other day. I’m glad she couldn’t figure out that I’m still keeping notes on quirks and stuff.”

“Does she still think your gen ed?” Midoriya nodded to their teacher. “Do you ever plan on telling her that you got into heroics?”

“I’m not sure. I mean, she still freaks out whenever I so much as mention the heroics class. I guess I’ll just keep putting it off until she’s ready to accept the fact that I’m going to be a hero, with or with…” Midoriya and Aizawa both froze when the window shattered. They pivoted on their heel at the same time to see Bakugou with his hand pressed up against where the window used to be, Todoroki, Tsuyu, and Uraraka standing on a platform of ice beside him.

Uraraka was berating him. “Why’d you do that, we were about to figure out the secret behind Deku’s quirk! You could have at least let us learn what he’s been hiding from us before loosing control of your explosion! And why were you touching the window in the first place, one would think you didn’t want to know what Deku’s hiding!”

“I fucking agreed to figure out what the fucking hell the nerd was doing after the damn day ended, not invading what semblance of fucking privacy Deku fucking has with you fucking fuckwads around him all the time!” Bakugou shouted. “Go to hell!” The angry blond’s nod to Izuku went unnoticed by the small party, only Midoriya and Aizawa picking up on it. Uraraka was so angry her eyes were closed, and Todoroki and Tsuyu were both staring at Midoriya like they’d had an epiphany.

Aizawa idly wondered what had happened to change the blond’s temperament towards Midoriya since the kid “disappeared” from Bakugou’s life. He was well aware of the boys’s past, as well as the fact that Midoriya barley interacted with his classmates beyond the group exercises, even Todoroki was more social than Problem Child.

The student’s stuttered when he turned his glare upon them. “Three day’s detention for everyone but Midoriya and Bakugou. One day detention for Bakugou. Privacy is to be respected, at all times.” He lectured. “If Midoriya wanted you all to know every thing he did at every moment of every day, he’d tell you. I also want a five page essay on the importance of privacy and respecting someone’s personal time. Don’t think I don’t see the camera, Yaoyorozu. You stuck it on a window. Hagakure, you pulled out a chair to sit. Midoriya and I didn’t touch any of the desks or chairs, and all the chairs were pushed against the desks when you left. I should expel you all.” Aizawa stormed out of the classroom. It was difficult to tell if Midoriya was going of his own volition or not, as he was moving right behind their teacher, but Aizawa had grabbed his arm on the way out.

Notes:

The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine. He's seen Assassinatino Classroom but hasn't started BNHA yet. He first told me that I was like Akabane Karma, then told me that I was made of Nitro Glycerine and was the only person in the school that genuinely scared him. I wasn't sure whether to feel proud of myself, or worried.
