Summary
He figures Ilya would be pretty surprised if he showed up to his house out of the blue. Surprised enough to be put off, probably. Shane is way too bad of a liar to think of any plausible excuse. If this is really happening, if Shane is actually by some miracle getting another shot at this, then he’s going to have to play this smart. His impatience to see Ilya again will have to be tempered. He’s not sure how time travel works, but he has the sneaking suspicion that one wrong move could unravel everything.
Ilya is alive.
Just the thought of it is enough to make Shane crack his first smile in a year.
--
AU in which Ilya dies in the Centaurs' plane crash. A year later, careless with grief, Shane drives his car into a blizzard and wakes up in Boston, in 2016. When faced with the opportunity to do it right this time, and keep Ilya for good, Shane knows that every decision he makes will be crucial. It's terrifying, but Ilya once told him that he's brave. Now it's up to Shane to prove it.

Bookmarker's Notes
“We wanted to grow beets this year,” Shane remembers hearing his mom’s voice, broken and devastated and muffled where she’d pressed her face against the meat of his dad’s shoulder. “He was going to show me his mother’s recipe for borscht.”

Summary
“You are planning to rob me or what?” He hears Rozanov call, and he can’t help but smile slightly even as he rolls his eyes, closing the door to the linen closet and feeling strangely lighter than when he opened it, reassured that he’s just trying to read into a blank page, that today doesn’t mean anything more than Rozanov doesn’t mind him being around, which is strangely flattering.
“I don’t know,” he calls back. “Don’t Russians like diamonds and fur and stuff? Where should I start looking if I want to know what my options are?”
He hears Rozanov laugh, and it makes him smile.
When he joins him in the living room once more, Rozanov tugs him down to lean against him again. Shane goes easier this time, settling into it, knowing it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he just happens to be the closest warm body, the person on Rozanov’s roster who filled today’s slot.
(the tuna meltdown doesn't happen) (this does not mean they get ANY better at communication)

Summary
Because Ilya, after years of sparse messages and the occasional nude, has decided that Shane ‘deserves’ a copy of every nude and dick pic that Ilya takes that he finds passable.
It’s a lot of pictures.
But they also usually come with messages that are… sweet. It’s nice, feeling wanted like this, where he knows he’s the only one that Ilya gets off to anymore. And really, Shane doesn’t want to get a reputation as a bad boyfriend; it’s not like Ilya’s the only one with a camera and a dick, why shouldn’t Shane reciprocate?
He refuses point blank to send an actual dick pic, but there are other parts of his body that Ilya has expressed an appreciation for. Of course, Ilya is shameless and would have no compunctions against opening his messages in public; but it’s the challenge of it that makes Shane send the first shot.
The rest… he’s just trying to improve his technique, okay?

Summary
“Alright buddy, have a sit.” Hayden points at the bench in front of Shane’s locker, and Shane stares at him. “Listen man, if you think you getting this huge ass bouquet for Valentine’s day isn’t going to be the highlight of Jackie’s week, you’re out of your mind. And if you don’t sit for a picture for me, you’re a bad friend. So. Sit.”
Shane sits, still in his gear, waterfall of roses behind him contrasting well with the blue, white, and stripes of red in his uniform. He even plasters on his best media smile, before asking, “It’s Valentine’s Day?”
