It had been something of a sore spot that night, when Diluc finally realized why he wore the eyepatch, why they all did. Any advantage Diluc had in the dark, gone the moment he’d taken it off.
He’d acted shocked, like he hadn’t seen it a dozen times before, like Kaeya hadn’t told him exactly why he kept it covered. But suddenly Diluc could see what he could all this time and he’d responded by trying to scratch it out of Kaeya’s head.
There was bound to be anger, when he realized that Kaeya knew before Diluc could tell him what he was, before Diluc had even thought the word.
Diluc had looked at him like suddenly he knew what Kaeya had come here for, had waited all day with a stake in his fist for.
"Did you know," he had asked, his voice raw and teary, "about Father?"
Kaeya’s eyes narrowed and he had returned very pointedly, cold in a way only Kaeya could be, "Did you?"
And that was it. After that, a hunger that made him pounce; a guilt that sent him running. A brief summary of a funeral he did not attend, and then years of silence.Diluc is a vampire and he comes back to Mondstadt after four years of minimal contact.
