Chapter 7: I need you more than you need me

Summary:

That didn't really matter though, because she had put enough force into that punch to send him off the edge and plummeting over 2 stories onto hard concrete. He could only guess why she did that.

Chapter Text

“Aizawa-sensei, we already know this!” Dazai whined, which earned him a kick to the shin. They were in class, just Soukoku and the pro hero. Apparently, they were required to teach the pair about secondary genders at some point within their time at UA.

It was going to be a week-long class, each period an hour long. It took place after school, which meant the two could avoid the chaos of the halls. But what they missed out there, they made up for here.

It was the first day, and they were going to start with covering alphas. Neither he nor Chuuya actually wanted to be in this class today, at all. Chuuya was an alpha, what could he possibly learn that he didn't know? And Dazai didn't need to worry about alphas. Well other than the ginger, whom he wasn't worried about.

“Because it's the government's requirement. You can't graduate without taking this class." He sighed, writing ‘alphas’ on the chalk board in big letters.

“First off, what do you two know about alphas?” Aizawa asked, redirecting his attention to the class he had to teach. Though, going off his expression, he was just a thrilled to teach it as Dazai was to take it.

“They have more earthy or demanding scents and they can use commands. " Chuuya answered.

“Wow chibi even knows basic facts! That's impressive for a dog!” Dazai half teased, half jabbed at Chuuya.

“Shut up shitty mackerel, like you know more than I do!” He snapped back, earning an exhausted sigh from the dark haired omega at the front of the room.

“Nakahara, language. Dazai, stop antagonizing him. " He sighed. “Nakahara is correct, alphas naturally have a more earthy, demanding or natural scent. Nakahara’s scent is ginger and smoke, which is more natural. " Aizawa hadn't smelt the undertone of gunpowder, it made sense with the careful control the alpha always had, but he still should have smelt it by now. They had been around him for almost two weeks now, yet he hadn't picked up on the gunpowder scent? Dazai couldn't even point that out, betas weren't supposed to be able to smell the undertones of scents.

“You make Chuuya’s scent sound like it smells good. Chibi’s scent doesn't smell good!” Dazai covered his nose, shooting a pointed glare at the alpha in question.

“Dazai you do realize your uniform smells like him, right?” The teacher pointed out. Dazai had forgotten that piece. No matter how much he washed his uniform, the ginger haired alpha’s scent never came off. It was beyond annoying him at this point, especially because Uraraka hadn't left him or Chuuya alone to discuss anything. Not even in their dorm!

“It's because we share a room and he keeps stinking it up so badly it clings to my clothes now!” Actually, it clung to Dazai aswell. The omega had not been able to shake off the scent when he usually could hide it under his patches. But no, it was like a bad smell that clung to certain people due to their environment.

“I do not! You're the one who stinks it up with your fish scent!” Chuuya snapped back, except his argument held no water. Dazai hadn't taken off his scent patches in a while, and his scent had faded off of Chuuya and the room. Not just that, but beta’s didn't produce enough scent to be able to fill a room, especially not with an alpha also competing to do the same.

“Enough problem children, let's get back to the lesson. " Aizawa sighed, drawing four categories on the board. He labeled each of them, dominant alphas, submissive alphas, recessive alphas, and alphas.

“Let's start off with dominant alphas, they are usually the strongest of the 4 categories of alpha. " He wrote it down as a bullet point, his dog copied it. “They can command other alphas. " Another bullet point. Before saying the next thing, he wrote it down. "These types of alphas, are seen as the ideal alphas for submissive omegas or normal omegas by society”

Dazai watched in real time as that processed through Chuuya’s mind. His brows were furrowed as he looked up at his teacher. "Why is that? Why can't they be with who they want?” Oh poor naive Chuuya, he hadn't realized why Dazai was hidden as a beta, why so many omegas would never be safe in the mafia.

But Chuuya had seen the disgusting side of the mafia, the one that no omega, no beta could go into. It was too risky, even one slip up of either, and they would be caught in an inescapable web. The alpha had been chosen to do a few jobs, even oversaw two. He saw first hand what the underbelly of Japan did to omegas or certain betas. Dazai hadn't been able to squirm out of Chuuya’s sight for at least three weeks after that. He told Mori to never send the alpha on another one of those jobs, or he swore he would find the most effective way to kill himself. Color Dazai surprised, but the alpha hadn’t been assigned one of those missions since, and he couldn’t be happier.

“Because, society has expectations, and anything outside of those is not acceptable." Aizawa didn't glance at them, but he clearly wasn't happy that said expectations existed. The omega wasn't stupid, far from it, he knew why the man wasn't thrilled at their expectations. He fell in love with a beta, not an alpha. But the dominant omega was already ostracized due to his secondary genders factor, it was just fate cursing him further.

Neither of Soukoku said anything, they understood that clearly. It was even worse for alpha and beta couples of the same gender, especially males. “I'll touch on that before the last day, I won't be teaching the last day either, Nezu will. He said it would be fine for him to teach it since he ‘Doesn't have the required parts’ or something like that. " He sighed shaking his head.

“Anyway, submissive alphas. Often seen as weak, they still are stronger than most betas, with the exeption of dominant betas. More on those tomorrow. " Chuuya was back to coping down the bullet points like they mattered. “They back down really easily, even to omegas. And society often shuns them, it's not uncommon to see them without a mate. " that was just kinda sad. Because of your secondary gender you got to have no mate? Not even a chance? That was really just a shame.

“Really? I'm glad I'm not a submissive alpha, that doesn't sound like a great life. " Chuuya said, only after he had taken all of his notes.

“If Chuuya wasn't a dominant alpha, Chuuya would be an omega, probably a submissive omega!” Dazai took the opportunity to tease the alpha for his petite, light, and thin body, his caring, kind, and level headed personality–well at least when Dazai wasn't around. The alpha got either aggressive, easily annoyed, or just flat out pissed when Dazai was around or he was over protective, slightly possessive, and wouldn't even let the omega out of his sights for longer than 5 minutes. It really turned some missions into challenges, Dazai was glad there wasn't a high chance at the latter option. Though he did wonder why that happened.

Aizawa sighed, ignoring the two bickering over the most absurd things. “Recessive alphas are more of a mystery than any other secondary gender, even more than dominant omegas or recessive omegas, who are rarely researched. They stopped studying them 70 years ago, and haven't resumed. Scientists stopped after realizing certain recessive alphas had omega pieces in their DNA, or body structure. Many people view them as sickly, and recessive alphas are common to be quirkless, or have a weaker immune system. " Neither of the two had anything to say about that, recessive alphas weren't common in Yokohama, they weren't common in general.

“Alpha’s in general are usually at the top of the hierarchy, have earthy scents, and can command other genders. The things that aren't so easy to notice is how they are with potential mates, or their mate. Whether they are marked or if they just marked someone, it's common for them to be over protective, or even possessive of their mate. " Aizawa turned around from where he was writing his bullet points to face the two teens. "You should never get in between an alpha and their omega, especially if their omega is in danger. "

Aizawa let out a tired sigh. "A lot of alphas either end up in the way of hero work or have to be muzzled while we do our jobs.” He explained. “This occurrence gets far worse when it's a dominant alpha. Even if their omega doesn't like them, they still feel the need to protect them no matter what.”

Dazai tried not to show it in his expression. His nose wrinkled slightly as he thought over that sentence. No, Chuuya didn't feel that way, he had to stop getting hopeful that maybe, just maybe, the alpha would actually care about him. What a naive thought, he knew so many that would kill for this opportunity.

He hated everything about this, about Chuuya, and what was even happening! Maybe, just maybe if Dazai wasn't a stupid omega, he wouldn't be in this mess. Maybe if his dog wasn't an alpha, they wouldn't be here. Maybe if he didn't have that cursed bite on the back of his neck, he wouldn't have to worry about that feeling that clawed at him whenever Uraraka got too close to his– to Chuuya.

“Alphas also have something called a rut. Usually they get aggressive and possessive. Nezu will go over that with you two on Friday. You’re both dismissed.” Dazai was the first to stand up and walk out of the room. If he wasn't wearing scent patches, his irritation would be noticeable. But it wasn't, the alpha noticed it, but Aizawa didn't, and just sighed when he stormed out.

By the time they had gotten back the class was in the middle of a homework session. Yaoyorzu was leading it, going around all the students to make sure they understood the assignments. Dazai didn't actually care, why should he? He wasn't struggling with any work, he'd already taken these classes.

Chuuya on the other hand, did need some help, and it wasn't likely Dazai would actually do that. Don't get him wrong, he totally would, but it was a lot funnier making the ginger irritated at him for refusing to help.

“Mind if I join?” The alpha asked, he had set his back pack onto the ground. He was carrying a lot more than the omega because of his ability–plus Dazai was whining about his back hurting. If it was or wasn't, was it really Chuuya’s business?

“No, the more the merrier! Dazai are you joining too?” Yaoyorzu asked, he shook his head. He didn't need help when he was already done with the work.

Chuuya took a seat at the couch, digging through his back pack for supplies and his homework. Dazai would have laid across his lap, if that wouldn't have ruined pieces of his plan. He needed to start distancing himself from the alpha.

Uraraka sat right next to him, not close enough to be Dazai level close, but close enough that the omega felt his instincts twist in a disgusting way. He didn't acknowledge that part of him, even if it was getting louder by the day.

“I don't understand this problem.” Chuuya said, pointing at the paper. Dazai didn't have to look at the problem to know what he was talking about. The boy had been struggling with that same problem in Ectoplasm’s class. He had just conveniently glanced at his paper at that time, nothing else.

The problem itself was easy, it was just the process. With a calculator, the problem would be much easier, but without one you needed a little more brain, which Chuuya lacked. The problem used squaring, but you had to do a specific and tedious process to get the answer. It had been annoying for Dazai, but it wasn't as bad as it was for his dog.

He was sure that Kouyou had taught him some stuff about math, but likely not this stuff. Most of this wasn't important, and calculators weren't that hard to get. Why did they even need to learn this anyway?

Uraraka was leaned close to the alpha to be able to get a good look at the problem. Dazai knew better than that, she was trying to get her scent right into his nose. He hoped it would work, but that was unlikely. Either Chuuya was too stupid to realize what Uraraka was doing, or he didn't care. He had moved his head away from her neck, which had been as close as possible to his nose without being obvious to everyone else.

“You have to divide 52 by 4, then put the 13 in the square and square the 4!” The brunette said, writing on his paper as she explained it. If it had been Dazai he would have told Chuuya to divide it by 2 till he couldn't anymore. He might be stupid, but he was smart enough to figure even that out.

“That makes a lot of sense, thank you Uraraka!” the alpha smiled at her. Too bad he couldn't see her face, but he guessed it had a dusting of pink on it.

“No problem! I don't mind helping if you need it!” Her voice took on its usual sweet tone she used with Chuuya. Dazai’s eyes had to have deceived him as he saw the smile fade ever so slightly. That made no sense.

“I appreciate it! Especially because a certain mackerel wouldn't.” He sighed. Dazai stuck his tongue out at him. Uraraka glanced at him, but her gaze wasn't exactly kind. It was more of a glare, challenging him to try at Chuuya.

He wrinkled his nose at her– he had no interest in trying to take Chuuya from her. Well he wanted to say that, his instincts thought otherwise. Couldn't he just get rid of that nuisance? Honestly, he'd give everything to not be lying about being a beta; to not be caged by useless instincts; to just be himself. But that was far too much to ask when you were the Osamu Dazai.

Ryunosuke broke him from his thoughts, the pup sitting down next to him. He curled against the omega’s side. The Chuuya obsessed omega shot him a look. He didn't give her the satisfaction of a reaction. The milky scent was a welcome distraction from Chuuya and his pretty omega girl.

The instincts that came with Ryunosuke weren't unwelcome, at least not as bad as other instincts. He wouldn't admit it aloud, but the instinct to care and protect Ryunosuke was appreciated, and the back of his mind always kept tabs on the pup when possible. He hoped that it would be like this forever. That he never needed to turn his back on the pup.

“Isn't that your pup..?” Uraraka whispered, though it barely counted as one, to Chuuya. Luckily for her, Ryunosuke either didn't hear, notice, understand, or care. Or else the mafioso might have hurt the hero kid, which wasn't ideal in their current situation.

“Who, Akutagawa? He is technically, but I don't mind him being around that waste of bandages.” The ginger answered, confused on why she cared. Dazai didn't dare let his mind linger on his words. He had said technically, so he probably was just saying that so the hero's would get off their tail and let the teens off with a ‘must be their circumstances’.

“But with the way he acts, he’d probably be terrible with pups!” Her voice wasn't even a good stage whisper, you could hear it from the kitchen. Rude, but nothing new to the omega.

Chuuya’s scent soured ever so slightly, and he had packed up his math homework. When? Dazai couldn't quite be sure. Probably when he was distracted by Ryunosuke. “You'd be surprised how good the shitty mackerel is with pups.” he glanced over at the pair, Ryunosuke had fallen asleep, or so it seemed. “I doubt he would harm Akutagawa anyway.”

Dazai was glad his scent was hidden. His heart sank thinking about what he had done idioticly to the pup. The pain he'd caused, and that need to please the omega. He hoped when Ryunosuke presented that it would go away. Idolizing him wasn't a great idea, especially when Dazai hated himself.

He didn't move, or show anything was wrong, just began to play with his hair. He noted he needed to probably help him wash his hair. It was greasy, though only to the touch. Other than that, it was calming.

Dazai still felt off. He was a useless omega; a useless mate; a useless pup; a useless mafioso; a useless person. What was he good at other than committing suicide? Nothing really. In UA, he just felt out of place. If he couldn't be a good person, how could he possibly be a good hero?

He must have zoned out, because Chuuya was waving a hand in front of his face. He blinked a few times and looked up to meet the short alpha’s eyes with a questioning look.

“It's late Dazai, let's go back to our dorm.” He said the omega glanced at Ryunosuke, who was stretching. He stood up shortly after and muttered a good night before following after Midoriya.

Chuuya and Dazai were the only ones in the room. The alpha offered him his hand. He took it, and let himself be led back to their dorm. He knew no other Class 1-A would see him in this state. The ginger gently pulling him forwards wouldn't ever allow it. What a loyal, over protective dog.

The door to the room was opened, and he was pulled to Chuuya’s bed. Not his own. He didn't care. That familiar pit in his stomach was forming. It wasn't a pleasant feeling. It never was. He knew what it meant, he just wasn't in the mood to acknowledge it.

He was pushed to sit down on the bed while the other closed the door. He sat with his hands in his lap. He’d feel better tomorrow. At least he hoped he would.

Chuuya joined him in the bed, unwrapping his bandages from his neck. Dazai let him. He stared into his lap, fidgeting with his hands. His scent patches were removed, the smell made the alpha wrinkle his nose, and his eyes softened with pity.

He hated that, he hated being pitied. He hated that Chuuya was acting like he cared about the omega as more than a friend. He knew he didn't. He had Uraraka! A perfect submissive omega all over him! He'd be stupid to just let that slip away!

Dazai was the stupid choice there. Show a man a gourmet meal or a one star restaurant meal. Any reasonable person would choose the former.

He was pulled into Chuuya’s arms, nose pressed into his scent glands. He pulled away purely out of reflex and confusion. Only for his head to be pushed back.

“What is Chuuya doing.” He grumbled, loosely wrapping his arms around his waist. He accepted his fate, even if he could easily squirm out of it and move to his bed. Chuuya's bed was just comfier, that's all.

“Comforting my stupid partner.” Dazai pulled away to give the alpha a weird look. He said it like he needed comforting. Which was, in fact, not true.

“I don't need comforting.” He quipped, wrinkling his nose. “And I certainly don't need your stinking dog scent all over me!”

“Says the one who practically melted when I scented him.” Chuuya shot back, grinning. He was right but…

“Shush! I did not.” He hissed, slapping a hand over his dog's mouth. If this stupid alpha didn't shut his mouth, he would personally find the best way to torture him.

Chuuya just shrugged, looking way too cocky for what must be good for an alpha’s health. He pushed Dazai’s head back into his scent gland. He sighed before he closed his eyes and let his body relax.

The pit in his stomach was still there, still noticeable, still nagging at him. But it was more manageable now. He took the small victory without complaint, even if it also included a loss. He closed his eyes, hoping he would get more than 2 hours of sleep.

Dazai woke up pressed against the wall. Chuuya was sprawled across most of the bed. Why had he even agreed to this? Oh right, because he was stupid. He couldn't even get out of this situation. His dog had him not only pressed against the wall, but also to his side.

Dazai was resting his head on the alpha’s chest, head tucked directly under his chin. One arm was over his stomach while Chuuya had his arm around the omega with his hand on Dazai’s hip. He had to admit, regrettably, the position wasn't uncomfortable.

It was probably around 3 am, though not uncommon for him to wake up this early. What was odd was the way sleep nagged at him still. If he was still tired, tired enough to feel sleep trying to drag him bad into its warm embrace, why was he awake? That was the part that had him confused.

Chuuya wasn't the reason, he didn't think at least. He was sleeping, drool coming out of th corner of his mouth. It had yet to leave his mouth, but it was really disgusting. Dazai couldn't understand how one person could be so much like a dog.

Speaking of dogs, was that why he woke up? Now that his mind was clearing and the dream before he woke up came to mind it made sense. It was hardly a dream, a past memory more like, of a life he didn’t wish to return to. Those days were dreadful

The dream had been when he was 6, they had just returned from the doctors. His father had been furious, yelling at the bandaged boy. Calling him useless, that he wouldn't amount to anything.

The thing no one mentioned was that if you had enough money, you could know your secondary gender sooner. That's exactly what his father had done. A few small details, a few things a doctor checked to see what you were.

That day, his father found out he would be an omega. He was dragged out into the yard, and thrown into the dog kennels. The dogs, as soon as his father gave the command, leaped onto Dazai. They tore at his flesh, tearing muscle from some areas and skin from others.

He didn't know how long he had been in there, half way through he gave up on fighting them, and just let them attack him. His father returned, pulled Dazai out of the kennels and gave him to the butler, told him to take him to the doctor on staff.

Dazai never forgot that, or anything else his father did. Mori might not be his biological father or mother, but he was better than both of them combined. He missed Mori, as much as he hated to admit it. He would be happy if he got to see him again, but he doubted he'd even get to leave UA.

Dazai laid on the bed, pressed against Chuuya for the next few hours. It wasn't all bad, minus him being completely drenched in the alpha’s scent, it helped with his instincts. He was beginning to get tired more easily now that his instincts were working against him.

The alarm went off, and Chuuya was waking up. He lazily turned off the alarm and stretched. Dazai leaped for the opportunity to get out of his grip. He successfully got out of his grip and went over to his bed, sitting crisscrossed on the mess of blankets and pillows. He wasn't sure how it ended up in this state, but it did. Half of the comforter had ended up on the floor, and he somehow had 5 pillows with 3 barely on the bed.

Chuuya mumbled a good morning while getting up, pushing his hips forward with his hands, making his back pop. He went and grabbed his uniform and changed. Either he hadn't thought of Dazai, or just didn’t care about changing in front of the omega. He turned away, he didn't need or desire to see the alpha change, unlike a certain someone he could mention.

He honestly wondered how she didn't feel shame for her actions. Few things stumped him, but this certainly did. And Chuuya showed clear signs of not caring, not that it made a difference to her. Couldn’t she take a hint? Or at least know basic manners?

Dazai shook off those thoughts and grabbed his uniform. He changed with his back to Chuuya. Once they both had changed and grabbed their bags, they went down for breakfast. Though only the short dog would be getting breakfast. Dazai wasn't hungry.

Uraraka kept shooting him weird looks. He wasn't sure why, maybe because he wasn’t eating or talking to anyone. The alpha next to him was doing enough for the both of them. Maybe it was the fact that Chuuya had one leg over one of Dazai’s. Actually, that was probably the reason, along with the fact that he smelt like he took a bath in his scent.

His own scent was clinging to Chuuya, thought not even half as noticeable as the scent clinging to Dazai. Uraraka had picked up on it, though she was really close to the alpha. Close enough to pick up the cherry blossoms and pie on him.

“Chuuya, you smell really sweet, why is that?” She asked, tilting her head at him.

“I do?” He looked confused, glancing at her. He didnt dare try and figure it out himself. If he did it might become obvious that it wasn’t his scent, but someone else's.

“Yeah! Like pie and some type of flower.” Uraraka explained, getting closer to him to smell him.

Dazai picked up on how Chuuya leaned more into Dazai’s space, leaning partially on the omega who had his head resting on his arms, which were folded on the table. “Cherry blossom?” He asked, a hint of hesitation clear in his voice.

“Yeah! Cherry blossom, that's it! So why do you smell like that?” She pushed. He has a suspicion she was hoping it was his rut. Which would be completely wrong. He usually smelt more smoky around his rut, not sweeter. But she didn't know that, why should she?

“It must just be a lingering scent from an incense in sensei’s office.” He explained, coming up with a lie quickly. Hopefully it would work.

She deflated at that explanation, not exactly the reason she was looking for, not at all. What she had been looking for? Dazai wasn't sure. Completely sure, but he could guess it had been what he suspected.

What she planned to do if that had been the reason he smelt sweeter, he wasn't sure. What would they do if that happened? How would they get out of this situation? Actually, when was Chuuya’s next rut? He’d have to ask tonight, but right now wasn't the time. Not with his least favorite pick me omega around.

Chuuya got up, finished his food, and went to take care of his dishes. Dazai was happy that the alpha didn’t push him to eat this morning, though he doubted the same would be true later.

He got up and followed after his dog as they both went to class, following after some of the other class 1-A students. They all arrived at class, and sat down, some of them made small chat with the other students. Dazai didn’t bother, he wasn't in the mood.

By the time all the students were in the class, the bell rang. Everyone went quiet and scrambled to their seats, Aizawa arriving soon after. He wondered briefly if anyone would notice his lack of energy, his mood. He shook off the thought; no one would, no one ever did.

Dazai walked into the training room dragging his feet. He was, in fact, not at all excited to be here. Today he had to go against the entire class, alone. Not for Chuuya that wouldn't be a problem. The same could not be said for the nullifier.

Not only did he have to deal with Bakugo targeting him for some grudge he couldn't figure out, but he also had that insufferable brunette to deal with! Bakugo wanted to put him in his place, and Uraraka wanted to cut down on the supposed competition for Chuuya.

For the record, Dazai was hardly competition. Uraraka was easily the better omega in all ways, the only thing he had on her was something that was worthless to Chuuya. Who cared if he marked him, the omega nor the alpha actually acknowledged it.

Well, the alpha didn't. From time to time Dazai would submit to his instincts and do something for them. But that was really to stop the annoying nagging of his instincts. Need this, need that, need Chuuya, need nest, need pups, it was repetitive and annoying, and it was quite unhelpful.

At least he had one thing to look forward to, their new ‘hero’ costumes. Getting out of those eyesores of PE clothes had to be a blessing, because as soon as he got in it and out of the locker room, he felt more comfortable.

He didn't get a gun, a shame really, but they did add the pockets. He was delighted by that, meaning he could easily put his things in his coat, and store things he needed. Even if those things weren't exactly hero worthy items.

Chuuya’s design had been translated well into a hero costume. Minor changes were made, the removal of the coat, so he was in just a dress shirt, and the removal of the tie. The pants were cargo pants rather than dress pants. He got to keep his gloves, and his hat. Though it looked sort of out of place.

“Wow! That looks so good!” Nails on a chalkboard were the only way he could possibly describe her voice. It was so sickly sweet, sweeter than normal. She made no move to hide her actions, feeling around Chuuya’s body.

“Thanks,” Chuuya hummed, but his voice became unsure as she continued. Dazai bit the inside of his cheek, trying to ignore her. He was surprised the alpha hadn't realized. But he gently brushed her hands off when they got too low for his liking. Chuuya made his way over to Dazai, standing in the taller teen’s blind spot.

His mouth tasted of blood but he didn't care much. The irony taste wasn't new to him, instead it was grounding, a constant that wouldn't ever change. He leaned onto Chuuya, half of his body weight as normal.

Before the bitch could interfere Aizawa started speaking. He actually could have told the teacher he loved him, right then, right there.”Today you're all going to go against Nakahara and Dazai separately. Both will be allowed to get a feel for the terrain before you all enter. They are allowed to use supporter objects. You are not, understood?”

“Why do those extras get to use support items while we can't?” Bakugo huffed, “Seems a little favoritism to me Sensei.” It was reasonable, but Dazai had already figured this out.

Dazai got the gun he wished for, what kind, he was unsure, but he could be sure he was getting one. He was pretty much quirkless or abilityless, so getting to use an item wasn't unreasonable. Actually, it made even more sense than letting the teens use their quirks.

“Well, one of your opponents is pretty much quirkless.” Aizawa explained, “Even if his quirk is strong, he's rendered useless against long range.” He felt a chill of delight run through him, he really got to use a gun! Call him strange, but that power was the best part for him. One misstep, one mistake, and he'd die. Just like that, all his suffering, over.

But Dazai had heard that suicide by gun could be painful if you shoot in the wrong spot. He wasn't delighted by the pain. Not one bit. Plus whenever guns were around everyone got a little more attentive to him. He wasn't even allowed one in his shipping container if he was alone!

Unreasonable if you ask him. What was he supposed to do if someone came to harm him?. He had no way to defend himself without an ability. Sure he knew martial arts, but that was subpar compared to the rest of the mafia. Well, at least his level of the mafia.

Though he spent most of his time in Chuuya’s pent house, unless he couldn't due to ruts, heats, or just his own mental health. Though his dog preferred to keep him close. Dogs love to play with toys, that's what he guessed he was to Chuuya, being led on to believe he was ok, safe, when he would just get torn apart.

He shook off his thoughts when he was handed a gun. It was real, to no one's surprise, but it was a paintball gun, equipped with light blue paint. Why light blue? He wasn't sure exactly, he could guess why yellow, brown, red, orange, or even green was left out. But why specifically light blue?

He didn't get time to think about that as Aizawa continued his speech. “Nakahara will be going first, everyone but Dazai on the field.”

The class filtered out of the room, few lingered long, Midoryia glanced at him, and Dazai smiled at him. Not because he believed I'm him or anything like that, but because he knew who would win. Even handicapped Chuuya stood a chance against many pro heroes, which made him far scarier than normal.

Dazai’s intelligence rivaled the principle of UA. Alone he could easily run these heroes in circles. And he couldn't be affected by any ability or quirk. Other than mutant quirks, but that was nothing a gun couldn't handle. His only handicap was the fact he was an omega.

He observed next to the teacher, who lazed in his chair, seemingly ready for a nap. He must have known he couldn't, but the urge was there, and he had to shake it off. He could guess why the teacher was so tired. Dazai and Chuuya weren't a walk in the park to deal with for sure, but they weren't that bad either.

Speaking of the alpha, he was hopping around the field with his gravity control, setting traps and such. Blame it on his useless instincts, but he looked pretty good in his new costume, stupidly good. That wasn't the point. Each trap, blockedge, you name it, pushed the students to a center area. Each side but one was blocked in, preventing escape. Locking the students into a close combat.

The exit to the area closed with a crash, barely missing Tokoyami and Todoroki. Aizawa sighed as he watched that, clearly disappointed in someone. Dazai couldn't be sure who exactly, but it was probably all three involved with the situation.

Chuuya made quick work in going straight into and to hand combat with the stronger students. Midoriya backed out quickly from the fight as soon as Bakugo jumped in. Everyone else shrank back, probably from the scents of the two. He wouldn't be surprised if this was the first time Chuuya actually let his scent fully loose around the students.

Most staggered back, some omegas covered their nose. He wondered how bad the alpha’s scent was now. It couldn't be that bad, though even Uraraka was covering her nose.

All omegas were out already, Bakugo was the only one actually fighting him. Dazai had to say, the cameras they had sucked. He couldn't make people's faces out, their reactions, or minor body languages. Sure he could make assumptions, but none were actually accurate going off the next move.

As soon as Bakugo and Chuuya went rolling across the area, he knew this was over. And in well under 10 minutes. When he stood, anyone else who might have fought, cowered back. For hero students, they sure were pathetic. Bakugo stayed on the floor for a bit, and the other patiently waited for the match to be over in the middle of the field. At least it seemed that way.

“Nakahara wins.” Aizawa said, and the class began to return to the room. Chuuya led the way, pushing into the office before anyone else.

Dazai covered his nose immediately with his hand, and the teacher quickly followed suit. His head spun for a good while as the alpha walked over and stood in his blind spot. No one said anything, not even Aizawa.

Why his dog was like this beats him, it was a miracle he didn't growl at Uraraka when she cautiously approached. “Hey Chuuya, what's wrong?” she asked, purposely dropping her voice, her scent taking a calming hue. That would have probably worked, if Chuuya calmed down that way.

Dazai wasn't sure how he calmed down, but calming scents wasn't a way. He wasn't sure why it wasn't, it just wasn't. He'd only ever seen a few scents work, and most of those were gambles. The only reliable way was out of the question right now.

“The next match will be starting soon, Dazai, you can go on the field." Aizawa said. He nodded to him, heading to the field. Chuuya trailed after him like a lost dog until the entrance.

“Osamu.” His voice was deeper than usual, he turned, tilting his head at the other, inviting him to continue. ”Come here please.”

Dazai sighed, turning fully around.”Why?” he huffed, crossing his arms.

Silence stretched for a while Chuuya walked to him, the shorter pulling him into a hug. Confused, his arms remained by his sides. Before he could even think to hug him back, Chuuya had pulled away, and was walking away. Dazai sat there, confused, before he shook it off to get to work on the arena.

His plan was to beat them with tricks. He just needed to last half an hour. He hoped there were barely any rules given to them that weren't already basic knowledge. Dazai examined the paintball gun. He had about 50 shots till he was out. The gun was no bigger than a normal hand held, fitting comfortably in his palm, and the weight was okay to work with.

“You may enter the field" The loud speakers barked. The UA students were hunting him. Or was he hunting them? He snickered as he took off in a dash, a game of cat and mouse. But who was who was the real question.

He had climbed up onto a few higher up platforms, walking along them. Being on the roof was risky, seeing that some students could go on the roof. It wasn't worth the risk. They had only been playing for 5 minutes, and he hadn't even heard a single UA student.

That's what he thought at least. A barely audible “Release” from behind him made him spin around. Too late, Uraraka had already aimed a punch at him. He couldn't dodge but he made a move to cover his face from the impact. He didn't need a broken nose or a black eye to add to his strange appearance.

That didn't really matter though, because she had put enough force into that punch to send him off the edge and plummeting over 2 stories onto hard concrete. He could only guess why she did that.

He groaned, curling in on himself. His back was certainly bruised, if his head wasn't injured that would be more incredible than Chuuya actually leaving the mafia. Though it was, when he opened his eyes his vision swam.

Uraraka landed beside him, crouching down to his level. He couldn't muffle a whine of pain. He was pathetic, but right now everything hurt, everything was confusing, and he was disoriented. Why was he even here again?

“That's what you get for trying to take Chuuya.” she snapped, wrapping something around his wrists. He couldn't be sure what, but he did know she wanted Chuuya? Why did she blame him for trying to take his alpha? He closed his eyes, trying to recenter his mind, but instincts and unhelpful thoughts was all that came from his head. Nothing logical.

He didn't know how long he was there, if she'd left, if he was even alive. He hoped he wasn't, but death hated him, so he was. He didn't know if he actually wanted to die, but that would make life so much easier, wouldn't it?

A familiar, comforting scent filled his senses, Chuuya. He shook off any thought his instincts could conjure up. That wasn't helpful. He was scooped up like he weighed less than 30 pounds. Uraraka was speaking, but he wasn't sure what she was saying, it was muffled and fuzzy. The next thing he knew for sure was that he passed out in Chuuya’s arms.

He woke up confused in a medical bed. He hoped that everything was a bad dream after an attempt. That maybe he was in a small coma while he was out.

It wasn't, this bed lacked Mori’s medicinal scent, but it carried Chuuya's. The alpha wasn't in the room, but his school jacket was discarded on the bed. It was crumbled from where Dazai must have held onto it, placed over his frame like a blanket.

He reached down and grabbed it, confused on why the alpha had left it. He almost laughed at what Uraraka’s reaction would have certainly been, if not for the fact his back and head hurt.

Why had she done that anyway? He had memories from before he hit the ground; of her landing behind him and pushing him to the ground. Why had she done that? What had been the motive? Oh right. Chuuya.

What made her think Chuuya was her alpha anyway? He had done nothing for her, nothing to imply that. He wasn't hers, he would never be, he was–

What was he thinking? Had he really hit his head so hard he was going back on his carefully crafted plan? Well, he guessed he had been messing it up a lot more as of late. But in his defense, his instincts were way louder. How was he supposed to control that?

The door to the room opened, a Chuuya with ruffled hair and an unkempt appearance walked in. His tie was partially undone, his shirt was wrinkled and his pants had been rolled up.

Dazai realized he was still in his ‘hero’ costume, minus his big coat and some other accessories. From the looks of it, the heroes hadn't taken it off, going off the certain flair that the removal had.

He refocused and stared at Chuuya with one big, sparkling eye. Even if his head hurt, he was great at acting like he was fine. Chuuya let out a sigh of relief and put down an apple sauce on the side of the bed.

“How do you feel?” the alpha asked, sitting on the edge of bed. It gave Dazai a moment to pick up on the lingering anger, fear, and worry on him.

“Awe, was my dog worried about me?” He got a hard glare in response to that.

“You fell 2 stories and have been out for the past 6 hours. We started class at 1pm. It's 7:30 Osamu.” Chuuya sighed, glaring at the Omega.

Dazai sat in silence for a minute before shrugging. “I've been out longer.” He left out the bit, ‘after an attempt’ because he wasn't sure if there were cameras or microphones in here.

“That's different, I trust Mori with you. I'm not sure about these heroes, I know Recovery girl means well, but it still makes me… Never mind, you wouldn't understand.” He muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I'm going to get Recovery Girl to look at you now that you're awake.”

Before Dazai could respond, the alpha was gone, slamming the door behind him. He left the lingering scent of irritation, anger and the tinge of worry.

He picked up the left jacket, bringing it to his nose and inhaling the lingering scent of gunpowder and ginger. The scent of smoke was far stronger than normal but he brushed that off. He had clearly been mad.

Recovery Girl walked in a few minutes later, and Dazai acted like he hadn't been smelling Chuuya's jacket. Speaking of Chuuya, he trailed behind her. When she approached Dazai, he leaned against the wall, watching every move she made.

She had him track her finger with his eyes, going off her facial expression, he hadn't done well. Then she had him rate his back pain, he said it was probably a four. Chuuya ended up telling her his perception of pain was off, and that it was probably higher.

She told him to not butt in, which was a surprise. But Chuuya was right, both Mori and Chuuya had learned that he would call losing a limb a seven rather than a ten. Though he did rate his heats at a ten. The older Omega had given up understanding why he placed those much higher.

“Nakahara, could you leave the room for a second?” Recovery Girl asked in her usual welcoming tone.

The alpha nodded and sent Dazai a look before leaving. The nurse sighed in relief and redirected her attention back to her patient. “You will be out of class for the next week or two. That fall seemed to have given you a concussion and a bruised back.” she informed him, a frown present on her face. “I will inform Aizawa about this and that you are under no circumstances allowed to participate in physical activities.”

Fine by Dazai, he didn't even like any of those classes. He nodded in acknowledgment, and Recovery Girl gave him a smile. “You will be allowed to stay here or in your dorm room, whichever is more comfortable for you.” she stated

“I'll stay in my dorm room.” He said, knowing that if he stayed here his alpha wouldn't be too happy.

“You're free to leave. I'll see you soon, deary. Please be safe” The teacher nodded to him one last time before leaving, Dazai stood up and left the nurses office. Though the antiseptic smell brought faint comfort to him, it wasn't the same. He'd rather be smelling Chuuya's angry scent than that.

Speaking of his dog, he was waiting patiently outside of the door for him. Dazai didn't bother looking or saying anything to the alpha. Chuuya trailed after him, closer than normal, as if expecting the omega to trip or get into a dangerous situation where he'd need saving.

He was already slightly disoriented, and his instincts didn't need to join that either! And Chuuya acted that way was throwing him off! He grumbled softly as he continued walking. Though he wasn't sure where they were anymore.

Luckily for him the alpha picked up on his cluelessness, grabbing his hand and dragging him in the right direction. They walked through the halls, past classrooms, and out of the building. They walked to a tall building and into it. They were back in the dorms.

It took no time at all for a headache to begin to form in his head. There was a lot of yelling, laughing and some arguing. It didn't take long for Uraraka to come running up to Chuuya.

“Hey Chuuya, where have you been? You missed the class study session!” The brunette rambled, smiling in the disgusting warm smile that made him want to hurl.

Chuuya pulled Dazai slightly forward with his hand that had Dazai’s hand. He complied, too tired to argue. “I was in the infirmary with this idiot.” He explained, making a motion with his free hand to a certain omega.

“Why? Recovery Girl had it handled, he didn't need you there. I doubt he even appreciated it.” His hand was squeezed, causing him to move his gaze from the floor to the ginger in confusion.

“He’s not exactly thinking rationally right now, I didn't want to leave him alone.” Chuuya explained, now with Dazai’s full, albeit confused, attention.

“He would have been fine, still.” She snapped, putting both hands out in a confused gesture. The gravity manipulator was getting irritated at her, his scent had taken on the undertone of smoke. He glanced at Uraraka only to see her eyes glinting with triumph. At what, he didn't know. Maybe he would know later.

“Can we talk later? The mackerel needs rest.” Chuuya sighed. He didn't wait for a response, dragging Dazai after him as he walked to their bedroom. When they got there he locked the door and led Dazai to his bed.

He carefully undressed what he knew he could off the omega, his jacket from his hero costume, the tie, and Dazai allowed it. When Chuuya left he was left with his thoughts. He adjusted to sit crisscrossed on Chuuya's bed as he thought a few things over.

Was it just him or was Chuuya acting indifferent to Uraraka? He had been dismissive, yeah Dazai was injured and the alpha tended to get more attentive and protective, but that didn't explain his behavior.

…or had he seen what happened? Saw Uraraka shove him. No, that would ruin the entire plan. Knowing Chuuya he would become more bitter towards her. That wouldn't be good.

It had been about 15 minutes before Chuuya got back, his fists clenched and smelling heavily of smoke. He changed into casual clothes quickly, and glanced at Dazai.

“You should change into casual clothes.” He pointed out, raising a brow.

Dazai groaned, flopping back onto the bed. “But my head hurts!”

“And your shirt has dirt on it.” His dog pointed out, throwing him a shirt. He caught it and grumbled about having to put it on, but did it anyway. Shorts were thrown shortly after and he put those on too.

That pleased Chuuya, going off of his scent. It caused a vile twisting in his stomach in which he wrinkled his nose. His own instincts were vile and disgusting, constantly prodding at him to make his alpha pleased with him.

Dazai hated it. He would never submit to such a thing, never allow himself to be defined by only his secondary gender. Neither would Chuuya. Though he clearly was prideful, like all alphas, he could snuff out his instincts, allow himself to submit if it meant good for him.

The alpha hand climbed into his bed, Dazai made a move to get up but before the omega could, he had arms wrapped around his waist.

“Stay. I won't sleep well if you don't.” he mumbled, looking up at Dazai with his mismatched eyes in a puppy dog manner.

The omega sat there debating, but he realized he wouldn't have to be as alert as normal. And with this new head injury, he needed as much rest as he could get. So he threw rational thought out the window and adjusted so he was comfortable in the small bed with Chuuya.

It seemed like this was becoming a habit. He would have to snuff out when he got a chance. But after today's events, his plan of Chuuya and Uraraka was out the window completely. Just going off how the ginger had reacted to her presence after the incident.

A shame he'd seen what happened, but it was what it was. He would make it work, maybe choose an alpha to lead Chuuya on that he liked him. What a delight that would be, he wondered how the dog would react. He probably wouldn't but it was still entering.

He allowed his mind to rest, his nose in fluffy ginger locks and a certain alpha’s nose nestled into the crook of his neck. He let his eyes close, hoping that tomorrow he didn't have such a severe headache. That was unlikely, but one could always hope.

Notes:

Update on my 3ds, best buy said they could fix it, then said they couldn't fix it. Y'all worse than me with that one person I didn't realize had a crush on me before it was too late like damn. Pt two coming soon I'm trying to either get a new one or get a mother board and a new battery.. (3-4 months I desperately need it fixed 😭)

Yeah so we were supposed to go over the entire omegaverse but this chapter had other plans. 😭like dawg what happened to cause that.. It's changed the next to two chapter and swapped out the chain of events. Everything happening was already going to happen but it's just changed how soon it's happening

Also I joined artfight so if y'all want art of OC's my account is KGingerF (what a surprise...)

Me when I get a good idea but it has NOTHING to do with the current scene so I just have to shove it in the drafts and hope I remember 💔💔

The dog section of this chapter is a little harder for me to write. But it's also as accurate as I can get it with my knowledge with my dad being a dog trainer, and also karma. Cough, karma stop trying to eat my arm cough. The dogs in this scene are protection dogs, meaning they're hostile unless they are supposed to protect that person or property. I think we can guess who they're supposed to protect and who they're not. Anyway, more on dazai’s past guys!!! Heheh rejoice! (Update on this much later, dogs know when they bite something they shouldn't, they don't bite down as hard, but these dogs don't have the same training or discipline)

I'm removing the update schedule since I can't keep to it. Tired rex and way to many problems. I'll work on it but zero promises. Maybe monthly updates I'll post updates when they get beta read. The reasons? My mental health, to no surprise, has taken a sharp decline. Yay live laugh love… I'll keep writing but motivation isnt always there, and being motivated to do anything is hard. Oh and something within my area lit on fire (not a small fire either, can't specify because it'd give away my city, but it was large) and I didn't write that day, for obvious reasons. I kept getting headaches that whole week because of the fire. Plus my dog is going after my other dog. Which might mess her up so we have to remove all toys, and kennel both of them more frequently. (He went after her 3 days in a row.) Sighs in exhausted writer

I wanna tell y'all something funny. My mom once answered my dads phone call, said hola Como estas and this ho said hola camero… He also thinks Como estas is a greeting… 🫩

On an ending note, do we want a discord server? I mean id be fine making it but do we want it? Id probably post some spoilers for the next chapter and stuff! ^^

Notes:

Hi! uh you've unfortunately reached the end of what's currently been released. Currently on a hiatus for an unknown amount of time (I promise I'm working on C7 I don't know how much longer it will take. As of 6/19 I'm only ~5k words in.). Currently I have over 30 chapters plan and probably more to come. I want this fic to get over 100k words but I'm not sure how that will work out..

as always, huge thanks to my beta reader (and my friend who read the first chapter and reminded me to lock in) or else this story wouldn't be very good. Also! funny fun fact, my first language is english, but my beta readers first language isn't english if I'm not wrong! every thing works around her, and if something happens to her there will be delays on chapters, sorry guys more worried about my darling beta reader than the story

If you missed it in the beginning chapter note, there is a playlist. it will have the chapter name in order for the most part. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7aMMnErluzrttQS8Sh2veB?si=1QkaFXHdRUGic9KnK5p3bg&pi=elhbRmQlSTSvW

Thank you for reading, best of wishes, Rex 🩵
